The Notebook musical is heading to Broadway early next year. Preview performances will kick off on February 6th, 2024 at New York’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre ahead of the opening night on March 14th.

The adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 romance novel The Notebook previously ran at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the fall of 2022. It features music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson, with a book by This is Us supervising producer Bekah Brunstetter and choreography by Katie Spelman. Michael Greif and Schele Williams will split directing duties.

The Notebook is bringing its epic romance to Broadway.

Based on Nicholas Sparks’ bestselling novel — which inspired the 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams — the new musical is set to open at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 14, 2024, following previews, which are set to begin on Feb. 6. Casting for the production will be announced at a later date.

Directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, with a book by writer-producer Bekah Brunstetter (This Is Us, The Cake) and music and lyrics by folk singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, the show made its world premiere in fall 2022 at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater starring Ryan Vasquez and Joy Woods as Noah and Allie, the characters played by Gosling and McAdams, respectively.

Exclusive: The Wiz is getting ready for the road to Broadway with an award-winning design team, including Oscar-winning Black Panther production designer Hannah Beachler and Emmy-winning Watchmen costume designer Sharen Davis.

The design team, which also includes lighting design by Ryan J. O’Gara (Thoughts of a Colored Man) and wig design by Academy Award-winning Mia Neal (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), was announced today by producers Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Brian Anthony Moreland, and Ambassador Theatre Group.

The Wiz is easing on down to Broadway.

The beloved Black-led, music-infused spin on the Wizard of Oz is slated to return as a reimagined revival in Spring 2024, producers announced Thursday. Amber Ruffin, whose co-written Some Like It Hot with Matthew López is set to open on Broadway this December, is attached to provide additional material for the limited engagement.

The “all-new” production of the Tony-winning musical adapted from L. Frank Baum’s children’s book will serve as the Broadway directorial debut for Schele Williams.

Black Theatre United has announced its new Executive Leadership Committee, with Broadway’s Trouble in Mind star Lachanze moving from Vice President to President.
