As we may have mentioned once or twice in the past, working on Community wasn’t always the easiest job, thanks in large part to Caddyshack star/toilet fortune heir Chevy Chase.
The former Saturday Night Live cast member famously antagonized his co-stars, lobbing racist insults at Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover — sometimes involving the N-word — and straight-up physically fighting Joel McHale. Meaning that the only way Chase’s going to be in the Community movie is if a fan edits him in using clips from old National Lampoon movies.
Also contentious was the relationship between Chase and creator Dan Harmon, who isn't exactly known for being the chillest personality to deal with either. Famously, Harmon “publicly reprimanded Chase in front of his family and colleagues” during a wrap party, allowing frustrated crew members to collectively, cathartically shout, “Fuck you, Chevy!”
This prompted Chase to leave Harmon an expletive-filled voicemail,...

After six seasons and movie, two Community characters might finally seal the deal if Alison Brie has her way.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently revealed her hopes for her character Annie Edison in the long-awaited feature adaptation of the NBC/Yahoo series, while sharing an update on the production schedule.
“There’s no update,” she told husband and Together co-star Dave Franco in a sit-down for Entertainment Tonight. “I would say it’s paused due to a number of factors. The entire cast is still enthusiastically on board to do the movie.”
Brie added, “Something I would love to see for Annie is full sex with Jeff Winger. You know, I think an X-rated Community movie would consummate that ‘will they, won’t they.'”

The cast of The Cosby Showis paying tribute to the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable in the '80s sitcom. The Cosby Show star and Grammy-winning musician died on July 21, 2025, at age 54. Despite Bill Cosby's conviction in 2018 (which was later overturned in 2021), the rest of the show's cast clearly remain fond of each other.

Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner died on July 20, 2025, while vacationing in Costa Rica. He was swimming off the coast when he was caught in a riptide and pulled under the waves. He was 54 years old.
Warner is perhaps best known for playing Theo Huxtable, the irascible, well-meaning, but mistake-prone teenager on "The Cosby Show" from 1984 to 1992, a role he would reprise on shows like "A Different World" and on a notable Earth Day TV special in 1990. He was a constant presence on TV throughout his career, however, and should be remembered for the breadth and depth of his showbiz career. Warner was one of the main characters on the short-lived drama "Here and Now" in 1992, and he hosted the kids anthology series "CBS Storybreak" in 1993 and 1994. He played The Producer on "The Magic School Bus" from 1994 to 1997. This, while appearing in single episodes of shows like "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Touched by an Angel.

Following the news of Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s death, TV father Bill Cosby paid tribute to his onscreen son, who rose to fame for his portrayal of Theodore Huxtable on the seminal ’80s sitcom.
“He was never afraid to go to his room and study,” the comedian told CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan of Warner, who was just 14 when NBC began airing The Cosby Show in 1984. “He knew his lines and that he was quite comfortable even with the growing pains of being a teenager.”
Warner, who garnered an Emmy nomination for his role on the eight-season show, also appeared in series Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines and, more recently, The Resident and guest arcs on 9-1-1 and Alert: Missing Persons Unit. The...

"All we want to do is save your life... Some of you don't make it easy." Aura Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for Code 3, an action comedy movie about paramedics from filmmaker Christopher Leone. As strange as it may seem, they took the old ambulance story and turned it into a wacky comedy. "All the sh*t you're about to see happened to a real paramedic." Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery, and Aimee Carrero lead a dynamic ensemble, joined by Rob Riggle and Yvette Nicole Brown, bringing both heart and levity to the chaos. The screenplay is grounded in real-life experience (and crazy stories) and was co-written by former paramedic Patrick Pianezza & director Christopher Leone, providing an authentic and emotionally resonant core. Code 3 is set for release starting in September later this year. This is just a quick red band trailer introducing us to the absurd comedy...

The air in K-Pops! is thick with rhythm, a cinematic space defined by an energetic pulse from its opening frames. It introduces Bj, a musician of palpable talent whose career has settled into the comfortable stasis of a Los Angeles dive bar. His charisma is a bright, undeniable force, yet his ambitions have long been stalled, confined to the same stage night after night.
A sudden opportunity offers an escape from this loop: a plane ticket to Seoul and a steady gig as the house drummer for “Wildcard,” a televised K-pop competition of significant popularity. The film then arranges its pieces around a wildly improbable turn of events.
Amid the polished spectacle of the show, Bj discovers that a young, hopeful contestant is the son he never knew existed, a living secret from a romance that ended a dozen years prior. This revelation sets the film’s main action in motion,...

If you are a Community fan and own a Hulu subscription, next month will be a great one for you. This week, the streaming platform announced that all seasons of the cult comedy are being added to the library, and you can start binging as early as July 3. In case you missed the series, this is the perfect chance to find out why it became such a high-rated show back when it started airing in 2009. The entire story has six seasons – and a movie that has been in the works for a decade.
One of the reasons why Community became as popular as it did is because pretty much every episode contains a ton of references to other shows and movies. It could go as big as referencing Batman movies but also use some lesser-known references to inspire an entire episode, like the one built around the 1981 cult comedy My Dinner With Andre.

Dan Harmon has been conducting a number of interviews to promote the upcoming eighth season of Rick and Morty, but not unlike a horny teenager in an ‘80s slasher movie futilely trying to evade a knife-wielding killer, he just can’t seem to escape questions about the near-mythological Community movie.

Ford and the rest of the cast — Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, and Brett Goldstein — had been filming since 6 a.m., but they stayed overtime until late in the evening to shake hands with Television Academy members and answer their burning questions. Since September 2022 when news was confirmed that the Community movie was happening, we've been wondering not just when it'll be released, but when filming would actually start. Now with one of the star's current shows getting picked up, this could be bad news for the project.
Joel McHale who played Jeff Winger currently stars in the comedy series Animal Control on Fox. The third season finished airing recently, and the show has now been picked up and renewed for a season 4, per TVLine. This of course makes us happy for the actor. We love to see them all succeed! But, the renewal news does have us thinking about Community: The Movie and McHale's upcoming availability.

The NBC corporate legal series "Suits" was a huge hit, running for nine seasons before ending in 2019 and earning a pretty decent following on streaming. Unfortunately, it has not been able to spark any successful spin-offs just yet. In 2019, the USA series "Pearson," which followed Gina Torres's character Jessica Pearson as she entered the world of Chicago politics, was canceled after just one season. Now, the second such spin-off, the NBC series "Suits LA," has been canceled after only one season as well. People absolutely loved the New York attorney antics of "Suits," so why didn't the Los Angeles version seem to pan out?
Despite bringing back some of the original cast from the flagship series, including Gabriel Macht's Harvey Specter, and having some pretty big-name guest stars to help fill out the world of celebrity lawyer Ted Black (Stephen Amell), "Suits LA" just couldn't live up to the charm of the original,...

Exclusive: It’s one and done for NBC’s legal drama Suits LA headlined by Stephen Amell, a spinoff of the long-running USA Network series Suits.
Given the high-profile IP involved, NBC had high expectations for the series from Suits creator Aaron Korsh. They never materialized: after an Ok premiere, viewership for the offshoot, which airs on Sunday, has remained low.
That is with NBC and Korsh pulling out all the stops and bringing back popular original cast members to play with the new cast. They included Gabriel Macht, who reprised the role of Harvey Specter in a three-episode arc, Rick Hoffman as eccentric Louis Litt in episode 112 and David Costabile as Daniel Hardman in episode 109.

ABC is feeling very confident when it comes to its slate of reality television. The network has renewed Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Shark Tank, and America's Funniest Home Videos. These titles have entertained audiences for many years, with Celebrity Jeopardy! headlining the group as the latest addition to the roster. No premiere dates have been established for the new seasons of reality television that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats with amusing contests and unpredictable investment pitches. These four titles are only a fraction of what ABC is working on for their reality television department.
Celebrity Jeopardy! brings to the screen the concept audiences have come to know and love for years while allowing famous people to participate in the competition. Ken Jennings is the current host of show. Mayim Bialik presented the competition during the first season of the series, but the Big Bang Theory...

Exclusive: Rick Hoffman returns to the Suits universe in NBC’s Suits LA on Sunday, and Deadline has your first look at Louis Litt as the actor teases what his character has been up to since we last saw him.
In last Sunday’s episode titled “Stuart and Tedster”, Stuart (Josh McDermitt) has a run-in with actress Yvette Nicole Brown, Rick’s (Bryan Greenberg) client at Railsback Lane, while each picks up their children at school. Stuart has not been his usual self since becoming involved in a highly stressful case, which has been affecting every area of his life. At the school drop-off, Stuart was jamming to the Nsync song in the episode title, distracting him from the road. His car accidentally taps Brown’s bumper, leading to a tense confrontation.

L.A. Is Set To Become A Little Easier To Film In After City Council Passes Motion To Reduce Red Tape
Making a mid-budget movie or TV series just got a little bit easier in Los Angeles.
The L.A. City Council on Tuesday passed a motion that reduces “onerous regulations and permitting” as well as other “unnecessary fees, inconsistent safety requirements.”
The vote, which took place earlier today at City Hall, passed unanimously.
It was introduced by Councilmember Adrin Nazarian. He said, “This is about jobs that support L.A. families and all the small neighborhood businesses where they live and shop; the dry cleaners, the manicurists, the taquerias, the breakfast spots, the sandwich shops and the caterers. Los Angeles is hurting because film production is leaving. Covid, an unprecedented firestorm and an uncertain economic climate have made a bad situation worse, but we can do better.”
He added, “We cannot lose our signature industry to other cities, regions or countries that want to steal our original industry. They don’t have what we have.

Six seasons and a movie may not be enough for Community fans or Joel McHale!
When it comes to cult comedies, Community is in a class all by itself. Premiering on NBC in 2009, the Dan Harmon-created comedy at first looked like a simple sitcom premise. Jeff (Joel McHale) is a lawyer who loses his job when it's discovered his degree doesn't count. He thus enrolls in Greendale Community College to earn a real degree.
Joel forms a study group of quirky students, played by Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Chevy Chase, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, and Donald Glover. Ken Jeong and Jim Rash also star.
While the show had humor from the start, it would soon evolve into one of the wilder comedies on television. Every character was made into an offbeat individual, with episodes playing as mockumentaries, parodies/homages to famous movies and TV shows, and unpredictable stories...

Community fans keep waiting for the beloved sitcom to honor its "six seasons and a movie" promise as the long-gestating film adaptation remains on standby. However, when the film finally makes its Peacock debut, Joel McHale says he and his cast mates are "game" for continuing the franchise.
Speaking with Screen Rant, McHale teased the possibility of the Community series making a comeback once the anticipated movie is released. "I think there are some of us that would love to keep going, and I would be like, 'Great, if you guys want to do episodes, let us know,'" he said. "I think that'll probably depend on the success of a movie, but I think if there's enough of a demand to do more. I don't know what it would look like, but obviously the movie would have to inform a lot of that."

The long-gestating Community movie remains on the backburner as its stars' schedules clash. However, star Joel McHale offers a positive progress report on the upcoming feature-length adaptation of the hit sitcom while hilariously revealing a spoiler.
Speaking on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's On Me podcast, McHale addressed the status of the Community movie and what's holding up production after the film was announced in 2022. McHale insisted that everyone involved with the film remains committed to making it work, with Dan Harmon's script for the project long completed. The final two seasons of "Community" were a painful affair, as the beloved comedy series fought valiantly against its own inevitable decline. The show losing its original showrunner, Dan Harmon, after season 3 was the first strike. Harmon returned to "Community" in season 5, but then the show had to deal with the departure of two major cast members, Chevy Chase and Donald Glover. Strike two.
By the end of season 5, there was still some hope that the show might have plenty of years left in it. The departure of Troy and Pierce was handled gracefully, and the quality of the writing itself had returned to pre-season 4 quality. Then "Community" was canceled, and then brought back to viaa little-known streaming service run by Yahoo, and then a whole other round of cast departures was announced.
