Like most sci-fi thriller films, Max’s Caddo Lake doesn’t care to explain how the time-traveling swamp in the film works. The characters passing through the liminal space randomly end up in different timelines, which inevitably messes up their lives. The film centers around two characters, Paris Lang, and his daughter, Ellie, who are [Spoiler Alert] current in two different timelines, i.e., 2003 and 2022 respectively. Most of the events of the film take place on 26th September, the day both Anna Bennett and Paris Lang disappeared from their respective timelines. In the 2022 timeline, Ellie embarks on a journey to find her sister and goes to and fro through different timelines, only to realize that bringing Anna back would not only erase her father’s existence but also her own.
