    • Born and raised on the island of Guernsey, Brandon Ashplant is a writer-director, producer and actor.

      Ashplant's narrative short film writing-directing debut was Bet Your Bottom Dollar (2023), starring his brother Cameron Ashplant (The Last Bus (2022)), alongside Paterson Joseph (Wonka (2023)) and César Award nominee Marc Duret (La haine (1995)). His latest writing-directing works is the Cold War biopic Whispers of Freedom (2025). The short film is based on the true story of Chris Gueffroy - the last person to attempt an escape through the Berlin Wall's infamous death strip. Ashplant worked with producer and Academy Award® nominee Jonathan Tammuz for a second time on the project which stars his brother Cameron Ashplant, Wendy Makkena (Sister Act (1992)), Darragh Cowley (Masters of the Air (2024)), Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)), BAFTA nominee Christopher Eccleston (28 Days Later (2002)) and Thomas W. Gabrielsson (The Promised Land (2023)). Whispers of Freedom (2025) World Premiered at BIFA-qualifying Sunderland Shorts Film Festival on Friday 16th May 2025 at the Omniplex, Sunderland, before embarking on the international festival circuit. Other screenings include at Canadian Screen Award-qualifying Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival in September 2025.

      Ashplant also acts. In addition to appearances in several short films, including his own, his acting credits include Patrick in Horror feature Underground (2023) and Private Daniel in independent revisionist Western Last Flamingo of the Red Summer Sunset (2024) - the latter of which Premiered on 2nd February 2024 at the Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square. His professional theatre work includes three productions with Moor Theatre; portraying Malcolm in "Macbeth" (2021), Horatio in "Hamlet" (2022) and Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet" (2023).
