Biography

Joshua Shaffer is an American writer and actor who was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. His parents, Ken and Sandy, are of Irish, Danish, and Dutch descent. He has one younger brother.

When he was younger, he aspired to be an actor after appearing as an extra in Angels in the Outfield (1994), but it never came to fruition. After graduating high school at 17, he attended culinary school, followed by the police academy, before starting his career for Contra Costa County Animal Services in 2000. He married his first wife, Tia Jewell, in 2002 and accompanied her to some of her film shoots as she got into acting and modeling. This introduced him to Groti Productions, a company he was able to do some acting for in several independent short films and other projects.

In 2006, Joshua embarked on a new creative endeavor: writing his first book, Discovering the Magic Kingdom: An Unofficial Disneyland Vacation Guide, which was published in 2010 and marked a significant milestone in his career. During the same period, he went through a personal transition: getting divorced in 2008 and marrying actress Courtney Shaffer in 2011. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in separation in 2014 and divorce in 2017.

In 2016, Joshua took on a new professional role as the public relations manager for Gina Rock, the renowned aerialist with the title of the longest-flying Tinker Bell in Disneyland's history who flew across the castle for the nightly fireworks from 1983 to 2005. This position allowed him to utilize his communication skills and passion for the entertainment industry. In the same year, he published his second book, a revised edition of his first. He also found love again, marrying fitness trainer Ashley Shaffer in 2017.

In addition to appearing in several documentaries for Theme Parkology beginning in 2016, Joshua started voice acting for Adventurous Ideas in 2020 due to the pandemic lockdown. He eventually accepted a position as their production coordinator.

Joshua still lives in Northern California with his wife, Ashley. He continues to voice-act, write books, manage Tinker Bell, and appear at events. As of 2019, he has been working at a local refinery as a locomotive engineer, industrial firefighter, and wharf hand, and he is involved in the process of producing renewable diesel.
