The Oldest Players In Survivor History
Image
When most Survivor fans think of the reality TV show, it is Jeff Probst that comes to mind first and foremost. However, once fans figure out which seasons to watch first, they will realize that it is the show's players that make some seasons better than others. For that reason, it is always a shame when Survivor players get medically evacuated for whatever reason.

Considering how important the players are to Survivor's success, it is fascinating to look at who the people who've appeared on the show are. One perfect example of that is the fact that it is interesting to look at who the oldest people to ever play Survivor have been.

Rudy Boesch Was Survivor's Oldest Player Ever... Twice

Over time, Survivor became a more youth-oriented show. However, when the show's first season was still airing, the show's producers clearly were still figuring out what Survivor...

Why Jeff Probst Refuses To Change The Survivor Medevac Rules, Despite Fan Demands
Image
Survivor host Jeff Probst stands firm on not changing medevac rules despite fan discontent. First injury on the show led to a medevac, setting a standard for the intense gameplay. Fans advocate for a 24-hour window for medevac participants to potentially return to the game.

Survivor host Jeff Probst has remained adamant that the show will not be changing its controversial medevac rules any time soon. The CBS reality series is known as one of the most difficult and dangerous on television, and has seen multiple players medically evacuated over the years.

In fact, the very first injury on the show resulted in a medevac, after Michael Skupin suffered accidental burns. The moment is still considered one of the most intense in all the near-half century seasons that have aired since 2000.

A few lucky Survivor evacuees have been lucky enough to get a second chance back in the game, including Skupin himself.

Survivor's Neal Gottlieb Was Hospitalized After Suffering A Horrific Wound During The Show
Image
Survivor players face real peril, as seen with Neal Gottlieb's infection nightmare during Survivor: Kah Rng. Gottlieb spent days in the hospital after being medically evacuated, questioning if he should have stayed on the show. Despite his ordeal, Gottlieb believed he could have continued playing since he didn't feel pain while walking or running.

For most reality TV stars, the biggest thing they have to fear while filming is an argument hurting their feelings. While new Survivor fans who are still figuring out which season to watch first may not realize it, however, Survivor players can be in real peril.

After all, since the first Survivor player was medically evacuated, that has happened many times. On top of that, some of those evacuated players, like Survivor's Neal Gottlieb, suffered a lot more than fans realized.

This article will reveal that Survivor's Neal Gottlieb had an infection that was so...

How Survivor 44 Could Be Similar To Kaôh Rōng
Image
Survivor season 44 has yet to premiere, but it's already drawing comparisons to a prior season, 2016's Survivor: Kaôh Rōng. Though it was filmed before season 31, Kaôh Rōng aired as the show's 32nd installment, and it was the final season to be filmed in a location other than Fiji. Set in Cambodia, the installment featured one of the show's most shocking endings, when Michele Fitzgerald won the final jury vote over Aubry Bracco. That event was very controversial.

Season 44 is set to be the fourth installment of the show's "new era," and will feature the same basic format of its three "new era" predecessors. It will be a 26-day game, and end with an on-island winner announcement and after-show. Additionally, Survivor season 44 will introduce 18 new Survivor contestants, who will begin the game in three tribes of six.

‘Survivor’ medical evacuations through the years: How Nick Wilson and Michele Fitzgerald benefited
Survivor (2000)
As “Survivor: Winners at War,” the 40th season of the landmark reality competition series, continues to heat up we take a look back at all the times players were evacuated from the game for medical reasons in its first 20 years (see above). Though some players removed from the game once later returned to compete again, none of them have ever returned and won. That isn’t to say their evacuations haven’t had a long-lasting impact on the show–both Nick Wilson and Michele Fitzgerald benefited greatly from the removal of players in their path to a win. And now they both have a chance at a second win on “Winners at War.”

‘Survivor’ medevacs: See all 15 medical evacuations through the years, from Michael Skupin to Pat Cusack
Survivor (2000)
In the game of “Survivor,” the goal is to outwit, outplay and outlast the competition, but sometimes real-life troubles get in the way that lead to dramatic medical evacuations. As of this writing, a whopping 15 castaways have been medevaced by host Jeff Probst and the medical teams due to emergencies — 14 men and only 1 woman (Kourtney Moon). Need a refresher on the show’s evacuees through the years? Click through our photo gallery above highlighting all of the medevacs on “Survivor.”

See‘Survivor’ Season 37 premiere ends with a shocker that leaves the David tribe in tears

While the first season (“Borneo”) went off without a hitch in 2000, the much anticipated sequel (“The Australian Outback”) in 2001 wasn’t so lucky. In the sixth episode Michael Skupin fell face-first into the campfire after taking in too much smoke. Cameras didn’t actually capture the moment he fell in the flames, but the after-effects...

‘Survivor’ Season 37 premiere ends with a shocker that leaves the David tribe in tears
Survivor (2000)
The premiere episode of Season 37 of “Survivor” started with a lot of touchy-feely moments and the usual grousing about outsized personalities, thanks to its premise of pitting so-called Davids against Goliaths. But it ended up with an unexpected and rather harrowing twist when Pat Cusack, a member of the David tribe who took charge of building their shelter, was suddenly shown to be moaning in pain and clearly injured in the final moments of the show. He somehow hurt his back when his tribe returned to their camp after they lost the immunity challenge when their boat went through choppy water caused by a rainstorm.

The maintenance manager, 40, from upstate New York tied the record for the earliest medical evacuation in “Survivor” history. That mark was previously set by Kourtney Moon of “Survivor: One World” in 2011’s Season 24 when she was forced to leave on Day 3. Moon remains the first...
