‘Facing Nolan’ Review: Portrait of Baseball Great Hits the Sweet Spot for Fans of the Game
Image
Bradley Jackson’s “Facing Ryan” tells the story of an agreeable fellow from small-town Texas who married his high school sweetheart, followed his dream of playing major league baseball, pitched for four MLB teams over a 27-year career while operating a cattle ranch during off-season, set records for no-hitters and strikeouts that remain unbroken to this day, held high-profile executive positions with two of his former teams more than a decade after his retirement from the game, and currently resides on the ranch where he and his wife, the loving and supportive life partner he wed back in 1967, are frequently surrounded by their children and grandchildren.

If you were to present this scenario at a pitch meeting, you’d likely be shot down for failing to hype your narrative with suspenseful setbacks, intense conflict and a slew of obstacles for your protagonist to overcome. And if you somehow managed to get your film made anyway,...

Harrison Ford
Watch: Grumpy Harrison Ford Has Demands About The New 'Star Wars'
Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford has expressed mild interest in appearing in the next chapter of the "Star Wars" saga, in that he probably mumbled something under his breath about wanting to take a nap while a reporter was present.

In this new sketch from the Austin-based Humordy, Harrison Ford (played by Howard Stern frequent guest Mike MacRae) explains what it will take to get him to reprise the role of Han Solo. (It involves a "space earring.")...

Mitt Romney
Watch: What Really Goes On In Mitt Romney's Brain (Nsfw)
Mitt Romney
Warning, some Nsfw language.

Mitt Romney is often accused of being an emotionless robot (at least until the infamous leaked tape, which he probably wishes didn't reveal his true, human feelings). But if Romney's mind is as fine-tuned and fragile as a computer, that means it's only inevitable until hackers get ahold of it. You know, for the lulz.

Humordy imagines what would happen if control over the words that come out of Romney's mainframe was compromised, and the hackers struggled with Mitt's handlers to make his speeches much more, uh, colorful.

Check out the video above if you ever wanted to see Mitt Romney, played by comedian Mike MacRae ("Late Show with David Letterman"), tell a crowd, "Training bras. I eat them. With corn Skittles, and reacharounds."...

Doug Benson at an event for Observe and Report (2009)
2012 SXSW Comedy LineUp Announced
Doug Benson at an event for Observe and Report (2009)
South By Southwest (SXSW) has officially announced the lineup for SXSW Comedy, which will take place from March 10 - 17 in Austin, Texas. The festival's comedy programming has grown considerably since last year, with showcases, live podcast tapings and interactive shows stretching continuously throughout SXSW for the first time. The festival has announced 62 comedians scheduled to appear, nearly doubling last year's roster of performers.

Although SXSW is known for its music, film, and more recently, interactive portions of the festival, the comedy programming looks designed to delight both devoted comedy fans as well as casual observers. In fact, five of the comedians who landed on HuffPost Comedy's favorite comedy albums of 2011 list will be performing at the festival.

Part of the fun of SXSW Comedy is not knowing which performers will show up at which shows, although a full list of confirmed comedians has been released (and can be found in...

Several new series add actors
Jane Adams has landed the female lead opposite Thomas Jane in HBO's hourlong pilot "Hung."

Additionally, Cynthia Stevenson is set to co-star opposite Bob Saget on the CW's new comedy series "Surviving Suburbia," and actor-comedian-impressionist Mike MacRae has joined the cast of TBS' late-night sketch comedy series "Frank TV."

The dark comedy pilot "Hung," directed by Alexander Payne, centers on Ray (Jane), a well-endowed struggling middle-age high school basketball coach who figures out a way to use his best asset.

Adams will play Tanya, an artsy single woman.

"Suburbia" centers on Keith (Saget), a misanthropic family man in suburbia trying his best to be left alone. Stevenson ("Men in Trees") will play his wife.

On "Frank TV," MacRae, who recently signed with New Wave for management, will play several characters in sketches.
