The BBC and Netflix have garnered the most nods at the upcoming Royal Television Society (Rts) Craft & Design Awards with 31 and 16 nominations respectively.

An Underrated 14-Year-Old Angelina Jolie Thriller Streams for Free in November
Image
Angelina Jolie is one of the biggest action stars and Hollywood's top choice for female-led films in the genre. By 2010, when she starred as the titular character in Salt, she was already an established action actress, with several popular titles under her belt.

Now Salt is one of the titles that will join Tubi's new selection of free films starting Nov. 1. Following her role as the title character in the video adaptation Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel, 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and 2008's Wanted, Jolie had proven her star quality and was more than ready to tackle the role of Evelyn Salt. The action thriller will join other titles like 2014's Edge of Tomorrow, 2015's Furious 7, 2012's Taken 2 and 3, and 2021's Wrath of Man.

How ‘Eric’ Created Its 7-Foot-Tall Titular Monster
Image
Stitches and Glue, the London-based puppet and creature makers, are the unsung creative force pulling the strings in “Eric.” The Netflix limited series, which explores the ugly underbelly of New York City in the 1980s, contains a cheerful side in the form of “Good Day Sunshine,” a popular children’s TV puppet series.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays desperate puppeteer Vincent from “Good Day Sunshine,” who goes on a quest to find his missing 9-year-old son, Edgar (Ivan Howe), with the help of Eric, a 7-foot-tall blue monster inspired by Edgar’s drawings. Stitches and Glue (run by Paul Vincett and Becky Johnson) were responsible for creating all of the puppets for the show within the series for their portion of the shoot. In addition, they made the full-size animatronic Eric, who performed alongside Cumberbatch.

“There are so many storylines in it, and we only feature for a very small part of one,...

Last Of Us Episode 5 Bloater Gets Up Close & Personal In BTS Image
Image
A disgusting The Last of Us image shows a close and personal look at the monstrous Bloater from episode 5. Episode 5 saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) partner with Henry (Lamar Johnson) and his little brother Sam (Keivonn Woodard) as the four tries to escape violent insurrectionists in Kansas City. Eventually, Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) and her troops cornered them, but they soon became bombarded by a horde of infected from a sinkhole. Among the swarming infected was a Bloater, which became a talking point on the internet, given its hulking grotesque imagery.

Stunt performer Adam Basil recently shared on Instagram behind-the-scenes images of his role as the fearsome Bloater in The Last of Us episode 5. The actor gives thanks to the work of the HBO show's prosthetics designer Barrie Gower, prosthetic makeup artist Duncan Jarman, as well as the puppet and creature maker company Stitches and Glue and their...

‘House Of Gucci’: Read The Screenplay That Ridley Scott Fashioned Into A True-Life Crime Drama
Image
Editors note: Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series debuts and celebrates the scripts of films that will be factors in this year’s movie awards race.

Gucci fashion has made many appearances in Hollywood, both in movies and on the red carpet. The actual story of Gucci is worthy of a movie of its own, and it finally got one in House of Gucci.

Ridley Scott directs the tale of how Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) fell in love with Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga). Maurizio’s father Rodolfo (Jeremy Irons) does not not wish them to get married — he fears she’s after their wealth. Maurizio has little interest in the company himself, as he wants to be a lawyer.

They do get married, and Patrizia helps Maurizio’s uncle Aldo (Al Pacino) convince him to choose the family business over law. Together, Patrizia and Maurizio take over the Gucci empire,...

Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto, Lady Gaga, and Adam Driver in House of Gucci (2021)
House of Gucci Review: Ridley Scott Spins a Threadbare Family Saga
Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto, Lady Gaga, and Adam Driver in House of Gucci (2021)
Upon sitting down to write about House of Gucci, I thought I’d open with a quote. There had to have been some line, however peripheral, that stuck. That wasn’t the case. How about a moment that encapsulates its 157 minutes? It has the components necessary to dive into its artifice, at least in theory. There’s the grandeur, and there are the more hyperbolic aspects that match whatever people loosely toss the term “camp” at. Alas, nothing on that front dug its heels into me either. Instead all I asked was why this thing is so hard to latch onto.

It’s probably because of the script, which feels like more of an information dump of vignettes than the parsimony Ridley Scott’s direction tries to cobble it toward. It might even be because some of the cast is oddly forgettable. And what if it’s actually because this...

Lady Gaga at an event for The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards (2015)
House of Gucci Review: Ridley Scott and Lady Gaga Movie Has Deadly Style
Lady Gaga at an event for The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards (2015)
Lady Gaga’s journey as an actress has been remarkable. Once the vamping vampire in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story—where she wasn’t asked to do much more than strut—she soon revealed herself to be genuinely effective in A Star Is Born. With palpable insecurity and a hell of a ballad written by Gaga herself, that character believably lived in the singer’s world if not her personal headspace. Now in House of Gucci, Gaga finds a real high note, announcing she’s a major thespian and feasting on a role so vain and consumed with avarice that it perhaps took a pop star to know you can never underplay it.

Gaga commands the screen of Ridley Scott’s second film in as many months so thoroughly that it might as well be taking place on a stage in Madison Square Garden. But as good as she...
