Alec Baldwin and Travis Fimmel in Rust (2024)
Documentary About Slain ‘Rust’ Cinematographer Haylna Hutchins in the Works
Alec Baldwin and Travis Fimmel in Rust (2024)
Story Syndicate has begun production on a feature-length documentary on the life and work of Haylna Hutchins. The film will detail both her work as a cinematographer and her death on the set of the low-budget western “Rust.” Emmy nominee Rachel Mason (“Circus of Books”) will direct the film, which has the approval and backing of Hutchins’ widower Matt Hutchins. Julee Metz is producing.

The current untitled documentary will have exclusive access to Hutchins’ personal and professional archives. It will detail her early life living on a Soviet naval base and then in Kyiv, Ukraine and eventually chronicle her rise to professional prominence as one of the indie film scenes’ most sought-after cinematographers. It will, of course, deal with the on-set calamity which saw Hutchins being fatally injured while shooting “Rust,” a Alec Baldwin-led indie, as well as the fallout from that tragedy and attempts to complete the film.

Father Of ‘Rust’ Armorer Says Sabotage Might Be To Blame For Live Rounds In Gun Used By Alec Baldwin
Image
The father of Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the Santa Fe set of the movie Rust, told ABC News that he believes that sabotage was to blame for the loaded gun on the set, leading to weapon discharging as Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene on Oct. 21.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joe Souza was injured in the incident, but sheriff’s investigators are trying to determine why live ammunition was in the weapon Baldwin used.

Gutierrez-Reed’s father, Thell Reed, himself a veteran armorer in the industry, said that there was “a lot of motive there” for sabotage.

Jason Bowles, Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney, said, “Somebody wanted to cause a safety incident on set. Nobody wanted anybody to be killed. We have developed evidence of motive here. Why they wanted to do that. Why Hannah might have been a target and that has all gone to the sheriff.

Morning Meme: Alan Cumming Calls "The Good Wife" Drag, MTV Says Sex Is No Accident, and Eddie McClintock Dishes "Warehouse 13"
First off, I’m back! I ran down to lovely Lexington, Va to talk to OUTLaw, the Glbt student organization at Washington & Lee University. They were great people, and didn’t throw rotten vegetables at me, so I think we had a really great talk about bullying, suicide, and Glee. Many thanks to Emerald, David, Chad, Anthony and everyone else for having me.

Mike O’Malley has a great interview about playing Burt Hummel and how much the show means, and how he and Chris Colfer go about all those heavy scenes. But what really got me was when he was discussing the sex education talk Burt and Kurt had, and how sex ed talks between parents and kids focus on the bad things. “And look — parents don’t want their kids having sex. If they did, they’d teach them technique! I don’t care how open-minded you are.
