Donald Ryan Reeb was born in Colombia, Maryland on the fifth of January
in the year 1980. Donald became known to most by his middle name, Ryan,
for which he was named after his older brother who died during infancy.
He later became professionally known as D. Ryan which led to many
humorous mailings addressed to Dr. Yan. During his childhood, he and
his family moved cross-country about seven times before settling in the
suburban wonderland known as Coral Springs, Florida. His father was a
construction manager who was brought to South Florida by the massive
Outlet mall project which came to be known as Sawgrass Mills Mall.
Meanwhile, Reeb was making the most of his formative high school years
by playing in bands Last Minute and Forever and a Day. Reeb planned
shows and tours for both bands utilizing his uncanny people skills and
trustworthy minivan. After a number of years and a series of
unfortunate events, including the cliché irreconcilable differences and
drug abuse, Reeb's life as band member and concert organizer was over.
However, to this day, he is still a musician at heart. Following that
debacle, Reeb attended art school where he sharpened his skills in Film
Making and Animation. He became inspired by contemporary filmmakers and
such as Tim Burton, John Carpenter, Quinten Tarentino, Ray Harryhausen
and Peter Jackson. He developed an appreciation for creative and
original stories and found a deep seated passion for film. Nearing
completion of his degree, he acquired an internship at award winning
visual effects studio Digital Domain. This opportunity marked the end
of his life in Florida and the beginning of his life in Los Angeles.
His internship at Digital Domain eventually turned into a successful
career in CG for feature film which has opened the door to many other
opportunities. One such opportunity was spending a year in Taiwan as a
CG supervisor for an international production company. Reeb became
tired of creating the dreams and visions of others and set out to
create his own vision. Kill Zombie Kill is the first (of many) original
stories that he hopes to bring to life.
