Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (2004) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
Intro: 1815. Canadian settlers are pushing westward. A trading company has set up a fort in the middle of a vast wilderness… and now that fort is under siege. Ravenous beasts lurk in the forest, howling, scratching at the gate. These pioneers have entered werewolf territory. That’s the set-up for the most unexpected prequel of all time, Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (watch it Here). And it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.

Creators / Cast: Director John Fawcett’s teenage werewolf movie Ginger Snaps started making its way out into the world in the year 2000. It quickly earned a cult following, and a reputation for being one of the best werewolf movies ever made. It had a low budget and was so financially successful, two follow-ups were given the greenlight. These would be shot back-to-back, with Ginger Snaps editor Brett Sullivan taking the helm of one and Ginger...

‘This isn’t just a good horror movie, it’s a good movie. Period’

‘The euuuuwwww factor is sky-high for this black horror comedy’

The Guardian

Ginger Snaps is a landmark in feminist horror and now the seminal movie is set for a highly anticipated collector’s edition treatment from Second Sight Films. Helmed by John Fawcett (Orphan Black, Saving Hope), it offers a fresh take on the werewolf and coming-of-age genre, with heaps of gore and a lot of heart.

The film is out now in a complete set with all three films as The Ginger Snaps Trilogy Limited-Edition Blu-ray Box Set.

The original film is set in the suburban Canadian town of Bailey Downs,...

Ginger Snaps trilogy is getting a Blu-ray box set release in the UK
Image
The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween, which happens to be the setting of the first movie.

Copies of the Ginger Snaps trilogy Blu-ray box set can be pre-ordered directly from Second Sight Films.

Caption This: Aquarius’ David Duchovny on the Scene; Plus An Unhappy American Ninja Warrior
For Caption This, we at Collider TV take note throughout the week of the weirdest, strangest, or simply most caption-worthy promotional photos we run across, and pick the best one (or two) to share. You can see previous picks here. First up, David Duchovny is back on the scene in Aquarius, and here, we find him crouched over a bleeding police officer. Personally, I feel like there are a lot of ways to take this scene, but I’ll leave it up to you, commenters, to provide a great caption for it. The Following, Ep. 2.13, “The Reaping” brings season to new high
The Following, Season 2, Episode 13, “The Reaping”

Written by Kevin Williamson and Megan Martin

Directed by Joshua Butler

Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox

When The Following began its second season it seemed like it had fixed its previous issues. But those old problems eventually began to resurface and season two was faced with unnecessary plot twists, important characters with nothing to do, and countless storylines that didn’t seem to go anywhere.

“The Reaping” has one central issue and that’s Kingston Tanner (Tom Cavanagh). When he was introduced in “Betrayal” it was an interesting choice. On one hand, the idea of Joe (James Purefoy) fighting a religious war with a man who doesn’t exactly seem on the up and up and who represents what Joe viciously hates is fascinating. At the same time, it’s problematic that the writers have introduced a new character this late in the season.

The Following season 2 episode 13 review: The Reaping
Review Ron Hogan 16 Apr 2014 - 07:15

The Following comes to the violent confrontation it's been building towards all season...

This review contains spoilers.

2.13 The Reaping

Throughout the season, The Following has been building to something. Basically, they've been threatening a clash of cults. Joe's cult versus Lily's cult versus the FBI and Ryan's little cult of followers (Max and Mike and sometimes Claire). It's been teased, hinted at, and outright planned by certain parties on the show, but it has finally come to fruition, and it's as bananas as you would expect from this particular show.

There's been a relatively slow confluence of events to lead up to the big throw-down. Ryan followed the killers from the college and dropped his phone. Joe calls Lily, who traces the call and figures out where Korban is located. Lily hires a mercenary, who rents a car, which the FBI tracks. When they...

The Right Kind Of Wrong Review [Tiff 2013]
It’s always interesting to see a Canadian take on a traditional romantic comedy, and The Right Kind of Wrong, based on the book “Sex and Sunsets” by Tim Sandin, is certainly striving to be a worthy successor to its American counterparts. It has all of the elements: good-looking leads; a pretty locale; a candy-coated landscape and fanciful feel…the one (very important) thing it doesn’t have is a well thought out script.

True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten plays Leo, an eccentric writer who’s reeling from the flop of his first novel and the break-up of his marriage to a woman (Kristen Hager) who has spent her down time documenting his flaws on a wildly popular blog called “Why You Suck” that’s now primed to become a best-selling book. She leaves Leo behind in their sad, little apartment and insists that they split custody of their cats...

Ryan Kwanten, Sara Canning on finding The Right Kind of Wrong
The sleepy but postcard-pretty town of Pincher Creek, Alberta provides the ideal backdrop for director Jeremiah S. Chechik's decade-in-the-making romantic comedy whose major appeal, according to star Ryan Kwanten, is that it doesn't play like a rom-com.

We spoke to the "True Blood" star about playing the role of Leo Palamino, failed writer, slacker extraordinaire, recent divorcé and suddenly in love with Colette (Sara Canning) - whom he meets At Her Wedding - when the cast was in town during Tiff.

The Right Kind of Wrong, based on the 1987 book "Sex and Sunsets" by Tim Sandlin with an updated screenplay by Megan Martin, follows Leo's single-minded, determined attempts to win over Colette, with the help of her boozy, straight-talking mother, played by a delightfully against-type Catherine O'Hara who told us she had some trouble with the salty dialogue but was game for something new.

A trio of boys are watching a clip from “Cult” for the “millionth time.” Then, in mimicking the episode, they kidnap a coed, tie her up in a car, and leave her to be hit by a train. Only this is a prank; the train is just car headlights and a train sound effect CD. The kids laugh, even the girl, Jill. This is “Being Billy,” a game played on college campuses. After the prank, the kids join their friends in a party where they screen the prank. Jill loves being the center of attention. Unfortunately, when she leaves the party, she is hit by a car for real and dies instantly.

Michael Ealy and Regina Hall Ponder ‘Last Night’; ‘Sex and Sunsets’ Finds Two More
With Kevin Hart in the bag, those behind the upcoming remake of About Last Night have started to find their other main players — and they’re planning this one pretty specifically. You’ll know of what I speak upon reading Variety‘s story, which tells us Screen Gems and Think Like a Man producers have corralled two of his co-stars from that film, Michael Ealy and Regina Hall, both of whom are expected to sign in the near future.

Like Edward Zwick‘s original film — along with its starting point: David Mamet‘s play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago — About Last Night revolves around a couple who, after having a one night stand, decide to make their relationship into a legitimate enterprise. We, the voyeuristic viewers, then get to follow that over the course of a year, as things get better, worse, and end up somewhere in-between.

Hart has already committed...
