The Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America East have chimed in with their selection of the best writing among television and film offerings of 2024. TV’s best scribes are getting their moment in the spotlight: The Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw) and Writers Guild of America East (Wgae) have announced nominations for the 2025 Writers Guild Awards ceremony, which is to be held Saturday, Feb. 15.

The TV nominees include a number of first-timers, including the final season of Paramount+’s supernatural drama Evil, HBO’s Batman spinoff The Penguin and freshman series like Prime Video’s Fallout and FX’s Shōgun. Of course, usual suspects like Hacks, The Bear and Abbott Elementary are all present and accounted for as well.

The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. A brand-new trailer for the Max Original rock climbing competition series The Climb has been released. When The Following began its second season it seemed like it had fixed its previous issues. But those old problems eventually began to resurface and season two was faced with unnecessary plot twists, important characters with nothing to do, and countless storylines that didn’t seem to go anywhere.

“The Reaping” has one central issue and that’s Kingston Tanner (Tom Cavanagh). When he was introduced in “Betrayal” it was an interesting choice. On one hand, the idea of Joe (James Purefoy) fighting a religious war with a man who doesn’t exactly seem on the up and up and who represents what Joe viciously hates is fascinating. At the same time, it’s problematic that the writers have introduced a new character this late in the season.

2.13 The Reaping

Throughout the season, The Following has been building to something. Basically, they've been threatening a clash of cults. Joe's cult versus Lily's cult versus the FBI and Ryan's little cult of followers (Max and Mike and sometimes Claire). It's been teased, hinted at, and outright planned by certain parties on the show, but it has finally come to fruition, and it's as bananas as you would expect from this particular show.

There's been a relatively slow confluence of events to lead up to the big throw-down. Ryan followed the killers from the college and dropped his phone. Joe calls Lily, who traces the call and figures out where Korban is located. Lily hires a mercenary, who rents a car, which the FBI tracks. When they...

It’s always interesting to see a Canadian take on a traditional romantic comedy, and The Right Kind of Wrong, based on the book “Sex and Sunsets” by Tim Sandin, is certainly striving to be a worthy successor to its American counterparts. It has all of the elements: good-looking leads; a pretty locale; a candy-coated landscape and fanciful feel…the one (very important) thing it doesn’t have is a well thought out script.

True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten plays Leo, an eccentric writer who’s reeling from the flop of his first novel and the break-up of his marriage to a woman (Kristen Hager) who has spent her down time documenting his flaws on a wildly popular blog called “Why You Suck” that’s now primed to become a best-selling book. She leaves Leo behind in their sad, little apartment and insists that they split custody of their cats...

The sleepy but postcard-pretty town of Pincher Creek, Alberta provides the ideal backdrop for director Jeremiah S. Chechik's decade-in-the-making romantic comedy whose major appeal, according to star Ryan Kwanten, is that it doesn't play like a rom-com.

Magnolia Pictures acquired Us rights to The Right Kind Of Wrong, a romantic comedy starring Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Catherine O’Hara (Best In Show) and Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), directed by Jeremiah Chechik (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Benny & Joon). Ej gives Jeff detective Sakelik’s police jacket, which she hacked after she found out who Jeff and Burt were looking into. Her record is spotless, but her youth is a different subject: she has a juvenile recored that she has petitioned to have expunged three times in the last year. Each request has been denied. Jeff blackmails an attorney into getting him Sakelik’s juvenile record. There isn’t anything criminal; she was an abandoned child. In her file there are lots of photos of Sakelik as a child, as well as dozens of other kids. Jeff and Skye have an address for Sakelik during that time, a place up at Lake Arrowhead.

The house belongs to a woman named Annabelle. She has only owned the property for 10 years and...

We're a bit disappointed in "Cult" so far, but since we've been a fan of Robert Knepper since his "Carnivale" days, we're holding out hope that things will improve so we can keep seeing him on a weekly basis.

A trio of boys are watching a clip from “Cult” for the “millionth time.” Then, in mimicking the episode, they kidnap a coed, tie her up in a car, and leave her to be hit by a train. Only this is a prank; the train is just car headlights and a train sound effect CD. The kids laugh, even the girl, Jill. This is “Being Billy,” a game played on college campuses. After the prank, the kids join their friends in a party where they screen the prank. Jill loves being the center of attention. Unfortunately, when she leaves the party, she is hit by a car for real and dies instantly.

Jeff discovers a girl named Laura rifling through Nate’s apartment. She was Nate’s girlfriend, and used to live with him there.

It'll be interesting to see how The CW's "Cult" fares on Friday nights, and in advance of the show's first airing on its new day, we have a "Producer's Preview" of Episode 1.03, "Being Billy," in which creator Rockne S. O'Bannon talks about the latest deadly craze to hit college campuses.

Meanwhile E.J. (guest star Stacey Farber, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”) searches Nate’s laptop and finds that he’s been active online and sent a cryptic email to a hidden recipient list.

We're not sure if this is a good thing or a sign that the show's in trouble, but The CW just announced that they are moving "Cult" immediately from Tuesday to Friday night. Read on for the details.

In some new casting details, Variety reports that The Three Stooges star Will Sasso, Jennifer Baxter, and Kristen Hager (Being Human, I’m Not There) have joined the upcoming romantic feature, The Right Kind of Wrong – formerly known as Sex and Sunsets. Megan Martin is providing the adapted screenplay, which is based off Tim Sandlin‘s novel, while Jeremiah Chechik is set to direct.
