Dora Nyaboke is an actor and voice artist and is known for her most recent role in Showmax's Original Telenovela - Second Family where her portrayal of Evangeline is evident that her acting skills have evolved over the years, delivering an excellent performance leaving the audience mesmerized. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, discovered her love for acting in Sunday school from an early age of 10, taking part in church plays. She would entertain her family and friends with her overly imaginative mind and sense of humor and they often told her that she should venture into acting.
Her curiosity for the craft drove her to her first professional audition in 2014 for two short films; The Article and Righteousness that were being produced by the Jamuhuri Film & TV Academy respectively. She played in both films and it was from this moment that it became clear to her that this was what she would to be doing for the rest of her life and although Dora was excited and eager to get fully into the acting industry it wasn't until In 2019, that she landed a role in her first feature film, Lost in Time, playing the role of Dr. Janice, a psychologist treating a patient with a mental disorder. In the same year, she also took part in her first short film, Man Down, playing the role of Beryl, an activist. Both films won awards.
In 2020 things begun to open up . Dora begun taking on more challenging roles. The first was a role of the hit Telenovela Selina, where she played Dr. Christine, a geriatric doctor who tries to assist the matriarch Patricia McKenzie conceive a child through surrogacy. This stint opened her up to more projects and In November of the same year she got a role in the hit crime drama series Crime & Justice, playing the role of Zera, an arrogant aristocrat married to Politician husband Baraza. Together they seem 'unstoppable' and will do anything to get what they want even if it means going against the law. It was this role that got people's attention on Dora's capabilities and skills as an actor and soon after it opened up more doors to big shows like Single Kiasi where she played the role of Grace, a role she in all 3 seasons of the show.
In 2022, Dora featured in her second feature film - Murder Camp, playing the role of Detective May Seloney.
2023, has been Dora's greatest year in her acting career playing the lead role of Evangeline in Showmax's first original telenovela - Second Family. This role saw her get her first nomination for Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama hosted by Women in Film Awards, Kenya (WIFA).
In addition to screen acting, Dora is a voice artist trained by renowned voice coach Jennifer Kanari of House of Sakal. She has voiced for different campaigns and commercials for clients such as World Hope Organization, Lotto Kenya, SuperSport, Elbins to name a few. She is an active member of the Voice Actor's League of Kenya (VALK).
Dora's interest in film writing saw her take part in the Kenya Film Commission, film empowerment 3rd cycle in January 2022. Although she did not win, she is still actively working on her film project and hopes to produce it in the near future.
Away from acting she enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
