  • Retired from MMA at 47 years old after losing to Lyoto Machida. The retirement was announced before the fight. He retired with an overall MMA record of 19-11-0 and he is regarded as one of the best MMA-fighters of all time.
  • Former two-time UFC Light-Heavyweight champion and three-time UFC Heavyweight champion. He is the only man to win the Light-Heavyweight championship twice and the only man to win the Heavyweight championship three times. He also has three successful defenses to his credit at Heavyweight.
  • Before mixed martial arts, Couture enjoyed a successful amateur wrestling career with such accolades as four World Team member spots, 8th place at the 1997 World Championship in Poland, Pan American Games Champion, four-time National Champion in Greco-Roman, and three All-American honors in college, including two runner-ups for the national powerhouse Oklahoma State.
