Forbidden Door 2 builds on the tremendous original PPV from last June and is riding the coattails of some fantastic teaser matches between Aew and New Japan talent we’ve had on Aew television in recent weeks. My Thoughts: What an opener for the PPV; superb action, amazing fan interaction and another stellar performance from Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy in particular. A massive excitement builder for the main pay per view!

My Thoughts: Opening with the TNT title match? With Eddie Kingston? Way to rile up the audience for this PPV. These two went for it big time. This is the kind of match that played with the audiences emotions – highs and lows, hopes were raised then dashed. Total rollercoaster. Eddie looked like he was going to win it but it was not to be.

New Japan Pro Wrestling seems to be on quite a roll lately. In the past year or so, they’ve announced partnerships with both Ring of Honor and Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling. Furthermore, they’ve been airing their major events in the United States via iPPV.

On August 10th, New Japan wrapped up their annual G1 Climax tournament — or Grade One Climax — which began on July 21st. This year was the 24th incarnation of the prestigious event — although Njpw held annual tournaments beginning in 1971 under different monikers. The shows consistently draw sold out crowds and mainstream Japanese press for each night of the event.
