The story and screenplay of this strongly citified fable on sexual liberation is credited to as many as seven writers. Too many cooks definitely don’t spoil this bubbly broth of uneven and yet endearing components from theatre, music videos, cinema, literature, soap operas, and sitcoms that merge with mirthful sighs.

Coming in the wake of the other films like Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai, Somnath Sen’s Leela, and Shashilal Nair’s Ek Chotisi Love Story about very young men being attracted to women old enough to be their moms, Freaky Chakra does suffer from a haven’t-we-seen-it-all disadvantage.

Fortunately for second-time director V.K. Prakash, his film is the most original among the films on the sexual diaspora. Its emotional graph swings from the ridiculously risible to the modestly poignant, sometimes combining both, as in the character of the pathetic Sunderam (Sachin Khedekar), the hypochondriac who keeps ringing...

The late Satish Kaushik had an illustrious career as an actor and director, but his last movie, Kaagaz 2, doesn’t do justice to his legacy. Like the previous installment, Kaagaz 2 is also a courtroom drama talking about a societal issue. The message is sincere and relevant, but V.K. Prakash’s weak direction and the caricaturish dialogue leave a bitter aftertaste. The characters in this world behave like they’re written by a toddler, and the low production value along with the poor soundtrack impacts the movie a lot.

Veteran actor Kiran Kumar, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Kaagaz 2’, shared insights into his ‘significant’ role and opened up on working with Anupam Kher and late star Satish Kaushik.

Kiran is best known for his role in ‘Khuda Gawah’. He is also known for his work in the Hindi films such as ‘Tezaab’, ‘Dhadkan’, ‘Kanoon’ among others.

Talking about his character in ‘Kaagaz 2’, Kiran said: “I play the judge in the last two or three reels where the story shifts to the courtroom. It’s a very interesting character. Altitude is launching international sales on two films featuring iconic British band Blur at the Berlin European Film Market. The band, consisting of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bass guitarist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree, was formed in 1988 and tasted considerable success until it went on hiatus in 2015.

The first film is an untitled feature-length documentary depicting the return of Blur, captured across a year in which the band made a surprise return with their first record in eight years, the #1 album “The Ballad of Darren.” It follows the relationship of the bandmates of over three decades as they come together to record 10 new songs ahead of their sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in 2023. Malayalam social thriller ‘Live’ revolves around the prevalent issue of fake news and how it affects people’s lives, the teaser released on Friday indicates. Directed by V K Prakash and written by S Sureshbabu, the movie features Mamta Mohandas, Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Priya Varrier, Krishna Prabha and Reshmi Soman.

Narayana has previously worked as an editor on Rajesh Pillai's "Traffic" and Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam". He says he gets bored doing the same old work and, hence, ventured into scripting.
