Tom Cruise has confirmed that a third Top Gun movie is officially in development. The actor revealed this during an interview with Australia’s Today, saying that the long-awaited sequel is being discussed.

Cruise shared, “Yeah, we’re thinking and talking about many different stories and what could we do and what’s possible.” He added that it took him 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so planning the next chapter is a careful process.

Top Gun 3 isn’t the only sequel on Cruise’s mind. He hinted that a follow-up to his sports drama Days of Thunder is also being considered. He said, “We’re discussing [sequels to] Days of Thunder and Top Gun: Maverick. There’s numerous other films that we’re actively working on right now.”

Today, Prime Video announced the premiere date and revealed first-look images for the second season of the action-packed adult animation comedy, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.

All eight episodes will debut exclusively on Prime Video on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Executive produced by hip-hop pioneer Too $hort, and featuring an all-star ensemble including Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, Angus Cloud, and Tom Hanks, Freaky Tales is a pulpy blend of explosive action, edgy humour, gory kills, and sly twists and turns… making for one wild ride.

Freaky Tales is in select UK cinemas from 18th April and on digital platforms from 28th April.

From its pulpy title, to its retro-computerised intro with Giorgio Moroder-style synths, to its opening voiceover (“Oakland in ’87 was hella wild”), it’s clear within seconds that Freaky Tales aims for culty midnight-movie status. On that front it largely succeeds, boasting a scrappy energy, outsider outlook, and local focus that feels like a sharp pivot from the slick universe-expansion of writer-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s previous film, MCU behemoth Captain Marvel. Tom Cruise and Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is set for a Cannes Film Festival launch.

As we reported Monday, the film’s presence was all but a lock and it has now been confirmed by the festival. The movie will play Out of Competition on May 14 with Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie and cast treading the carpet. The trailer for the movie launched Monday.
