Biography

Liam Gilbey is a writer and director who comes from a background in 2D animation. Working on a range of original short films and client work at the studio Cut the Mustard Animation, he also produces original screenplays, writes freelance for other projects, and is a part-time pop culture journalist.

Graduating in 2019 from Norwich University of the Arts, Liam resides in the city full-time for his work. Coming from a background of game design, art and storytelling, he continues to grow as a filmmaker with an expanding library of stories of all forms, from shorts to features. He covers a wide range of genres and styles, but most often tackles coming-of-age, sci-fi or animated stories. Usually all at once.

With a multi-disciplined role at the company he founded, he is involved with the finance, legal, admin, marketing and production sides of the filmmaking business, all skills leading towards securing funding and working on larger projects down the line.

In his spare time, Liam draws (a lot), games, practices Judo or impresses anyone who will listen with his useless (yet endless) movie trivia.
