Born in Durban, South Africa, Matthew was scouted while working as a bartender in 2005. He quickly became a fixture on the runway, walking in the first Durban Fashion Weeks before relocating to Cape Town to pursue modeling full-time. His career later took him to Italy and Germany, where he walked in Milan Fashion Week and featured in numerous international campaigns.
His introduction to acting came through the commercial world, where time in front of the motion camera sparked a deeper interest in performance. Since then, he has trained extensively with coaches in both Cape Town and Vancouver, steadily building a screen career that includes roles in Girl You Know It's True, the historical mini-series Abraham Lincoln and Churchill at War, and the South African crime drama Die Byl.
