Evanescence Tops Billboard Charts Thanks to Nathan Fielder and Captain Sully
Image
The second season of Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal is already making waves in the aviation safety community, as evidenced by the fact that Fielder was given a platform to roast the Faa on CNN. And the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure straight up addressed the thesis of a TV show that once featured a prolonged discussion about the fuckability of Albert Einstein.

But The Rehearsal has also, it seems, had a pretty big influence on the music world. As you may recall, in the episode “Pilot’s Code,” Fielder attempts to relive the bulk of Captain Sully Sullenberger's life, beginning in infancy. After pouring over Sully's autobiography, Fielder floats the theory that the famed pilot was only able to pull off the “Miracle on the Hudson” with the aid of his trusty iPod and the inspiring sounds of one of his very favorite bands: Evanescence.

The cathartic track,...

Halsey Premieres Propulsive Pop-Rock Record ‘Carry the Weight’ on ‘For My Last Trick’ Tour
Image
No two nights of Halsey’s wondrous For My Last Trick Tour have been the same. Since the live run began in May, the musician has switched up the setlist with surprise songs in every city. Some cities got two songs, while others received three and sometimes four. Some welcomed special guests, like Amy Lee and Lauren Jauregui. But for their latest trick, Halsey premiered the currently unreleased song “Carry the Weight” in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, June 24.

The pop-rock record is driven by propulsive guitars as Halsey sheds the weight of the past.

Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Kimmel, Gracie Abrams, Kerry Washington and More Stars Participating in “No Kings” Protests
Image
Hollywood is out participating in the “No Kings” protests.

People are protesting all across the country, including in major cities like Los Angeles and New York City, against President Donald Trump and his policies, just hours ahead of his military parade for the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary in Washington on Saturday, which is also Trump’s birthday.

Mark Ruffalo spoke with MSNBC at a protest in New York City and was asked why people were out protesting in the rain “to send a message,” to which he responded, “Because we see our democracy is in real trouble.”

“We see a president who has made himself a king and dictator, and we don’t seen an opposition that’s powerful enough to stand up against the trampling of our rights and the trampling of the Constitution that’s happening every single day with executive orders, with the refusal to obey court orders,...

Ex-Evanescence Guitarist Exits Music Industry Citing AI Developments and “Change in Society”
Image
Former Evanescence guitarist Jen Majura has announced that she’s stepping away from the music industry, citing “AI related developments and change in society” among her reasons.

Majura joined Evanescence’s touring lineup in 2015 before being named a permanent member in 2017. However, she was let go from the band in 2022, with bassist Tim McCord switching over to guitar, and Sick Puppies’ Emma Anzai joining the group as its new bassist.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Majura detailed her reasons for quitting the music industry, while also mentioning she was releasing some unearthed material as a parting gift to her fans. Her open letter reads as follows:

“Dear friends

I‘m gonna make this as brief as I can:

After careful consideration, observing what‘s going on in the music industry, AI related developments and change in society I‘ve come to the conclusion to step away.

Some of you have...

Halsey started off the song, singing the initial verses, and then a loud roar erupted from the crowd as Lee walked out onstage to join in on the chorus. Lee then took on the second verse, before the pair duetted on the rest of the tune. Fact-Checking Nathan Fielder’s Wild Claim About Captain Sully and Evanescence
Image
This week’s installment of The Rehearsal boldly answers the question “What if the movie Sully starred Nathan Fielder instead of Tom Hanks and took place inside a 19th century carnival performer’s feverish nightmare?”

The episode opens with a stunt involving Fielder’s attempt to revive the personality of a dead dog via its clone. Then, in a left turn so wide that it mounted the curb and hit several pedestrians, Fielder endeavors to try out this “personality transfer” approach on himself. And because this season is all about aviation safety, the personality he tries to hack into is that of Captain Sully Sullenberger.

Using Sully’s 2009 memoir Highest Duty as his road map, Fielder restages key moments in the pilot’s life, experiencing them firsthand. It all begins in infancy, a feat that’s accomplished with gigantic sets and towering puppets. Of course, Baby Nathan doesn’t actually...

'Devil May Cry' Season 2 Gets First Sneak Peek in an Unexpected Way
Image
When Netflix decided to adapt video game franchise Devil May Cry into a new animated series, the streamer knew that fans wanted to be surprised at every turn. They were, but soon after Season 1 premiered, they discovered that the surprises weren't limited to the series itself. The streamer brought Evanescence to perform one of the series' theme songs, and that was surprising enough. However, the music video for "Afterlife" revealed that there are even more surprises in store: the music video brought a sneak peek from Season 2 of the series.

With the characteristic red look from Devil May Cry, the music video from "Afterlife" is a good way to welcome the rock band after a four-year hiatus. It is also an excellent way for vocalist Amy Lee to announce that Evanescence is planning to release a new album in 2025. But for Devil May Cry fans, the music video had an extra special taste.

Netflix Brought Back Evanescence for ‘Devil May Cry’ but Did They Deliver?

If there is one franchise that is known for its amazing soundtracks and combat, it’s Devil May Cry, for sure. Everyone who has played the games can attest to the amazing soundtracks that play in the background when you go for those Stylish Ranks (I reach Smokin’ Style and SSadistic without breaking a sweat).

Netflix and Adi Shankar (god bless them for this show) have continued this tradition by bringing back Evanescence and giving us a banger of an opening in the form of Afterlife.

Evanescence’s “Afterlife” Lyric Video from “Devil May Cry” Features New Footage from the Netflix Series
Image
Continuing the nu-metal throwback that also includes Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, the “Devil May Cry” soundtrack has a new Evanescence song titled “Afterlife.”

Co-written by Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee and Alex “Mako” Seaver, the lyric video below features new footage from the show.

The song will be available on streaming platforms at midnight, and the full “Devil May Cry” soundtrack drops on April 3 — the same day the eight-episode anime hits Netflix.

Based on the Capcom video game franchise, the series is created by Adi Shankar, who also serves as showrunner, and produced by South Korean animation studio Studio Mir.

Sinister forces are at play at the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.

'Devil May Cry' Creator Seems to Confirm We're Getting a Bad-Ass Evanescence Song For New Netflix Anime Series
Image
It’s time for Evanescencefans to assemble because the band is all set to jump on the highly anticipated game-to-anime adaptation bandwagon, which is none other than Devil May Cry. The Adi Shankar-helmed series appears to have confirmed that the upcoming Devil May Cry anime will feature a powerhouse song by the rock band Evanescence — the band behind hits like “Bring Me To Life,” “Lithium,” and “My Immortal.”

The news comes after both NetflixGeeked and Shankar shared a video posted by the band on its official X (previously Twitter) handle. The video features Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee, doing a countdown using hand signals — first three fingers, then two — before culminating in the classic “devil horns” gesture. So while it’s unclear what the song will be like, or what exactly it is for, this countdown and the repost by Shankar must mean that there’s some kind of a...

‘Price Is Right’ Contestant Wins Showcase With Shocking Bid
Image
Often, people on The Price is Right make daring bids to have the best chance of winning. This happens from the opening bids to the final Showcase. This happened again on an episode this last week when one contestant shocked everyone when she made a surprising bid in the Showcase Showdown. It worked out perfectly as well since it got her ht6e win.

Here is a look at what happened on the game show and how the player won despite making a daring bid.

Woman Wins Showcase Showdown Despite Very Low Bid

On The Price is Right, people have specific tactics they implement to try to win the prizes. This starts from the game’s beginning when people are bidding on the Contestants’ Row. When people are unsure about the cost, they will often bid $1 more than the person they thought was closest. This, if nothing else, blocks the other player from winning.

‘The Price is Right’ Fans Stunned by Contestant’s Crazy $1 Bid in ‘Showcase’ Round
Image
A Price is Right contestant caused quite a stir on Thursday’s (January 16) episode after making a crazily brave $1 bid during the Showcase round, only for it to pay off and win her a massive prize. The contestant in question was Anna, who faced off against fellow contestant Amy Lee in a tricky pricing game. Amy Lee was first up and had to guess the price of a laptop and craft suite, camping gear and painting set, and a 2024 Mazda Mazda3 S. She initially wanted to say $55,000 before the studio audience talked her down. She almost went for $35,000 but ultimately landed on $40,000. It was then Anna’s turn to make her bid on three separate trips, including one to Mexico, another to Germany, and finally, a trip to Bali. She turned to her family in the audience for advice. “One Dollar?” she said, confirming whether that was what her family wanted her to say.

Evanescence’s Amy Lee: “50 Cent Hates My Guts”
Image
You won’t find Evanescence singer Amy Lee chilling in da club with 50 Cent anytime soon. As the goth-rock vocalist explained in a new interview, the rapper “hates [her] guts.”

Fifty’s beef with Lee stems from the time he lost the Grammy for Best New Artist to Evanescence in 2004. Despite not being announced as the winner, 50 Cent still walked across the stage, making for an awkward moment during Evanescence’s acceptance speech.

When asked by Daily Beast about the incident, Lee responded, “50 Cent hates my guts,” adding, “It’s just one of those things… I mean, truthfully, we thought he was going to win, too. It was such a wild night. People are like, ‘What was it like to win a Grammy?’ and I’m like, ‘Stressful!’ I mean, it’s wonderful now, to have them, but it was surreal… I just remember thinking, ‘I don’t even think...

Image
Evanescence are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2003 album Fallen with a Super Deluxe Edition box set and expanded vinyl and CD reissues, arriving November 17th via Craft Recordings.

Each format includes various demos, outtakes, B-sides, and live recordings from the Fallen era, including a previously unreleased demo of the band’s massive hit “Bring Me to Life” that can be streamed below.

Amy Lee and company pulled out all the stops for the Super Deluxe Edition box set, which includes the standard 2-lp reissue and a box-set-exclusive cassette featuring unreleased demos and voice notes. Kamala Harris on What She Learned from Tina Turner
Image
When I was a child, my mother would play “Proud Mary” on repeat as I danced around our living room, singing along into my toy microphone at the top of my lungs. The power in her voice and in that song made me a lifelong fan of Tina Turner.

Tina Turner spoke a universal language. Through her music, she told stories of love and loss, of triumph and pain, and she told them in ways that people around the globe could understand and relate to. Her songs — and the strength...

Bring Me the Horizon Announce New Album Post Human: NeX GEn
Image
Bring Me the Horizon have announced their seventh full-length studio album, Post Human: NeX GEn, arriving September 15th via Columbia Records.

The news comes after a string of singles from the UK band: “DIE4u,” “sTraNgeRs,” “LosT,” and “AmEN!” It’s undetermined if those song will be included on the new album (the tracklist is pending), though the wonky capitalization in the titles implies they are likely part of the same collection.

The band used an immersive augmented-reality approach to announcing the album, offering fans a series of clues and riddles that eventually led to a secret building, The Church of Genxsis, which was on site at the Download Festival alongside Bmth’s appearance at the UK fest this past weekend. Once inside, fans experienced “a variety of immersive Genxsis rituals, including face branding, a sermon and tarot readings as they completed their journey to becoming members.”

The LP will...

Bush’s Gavin Rossdale Shares Origins of “1000 Years” Duet with Amy Lee: Exclusive
Image
Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Gavin Rossdale takes us through his “1000 Years” duet with Amy Lee from Bush’s deluxe edition of The Art of Survival.

Bush are set to unveil a deluxe edition of their 2022 album The Art of Survival this Friday (June 9th). In advance of the release, Gavin Rossdale is sharing the origins of a new version of the song “1000 Years” featuring a duet with Evanescence singer Amy Lee.

Rossdale and Lee performed the song together during a Bush show at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in February of this year. Prior to joining the band onstage, Lee sent Rossdale a demo of her vocals on the track, bringing the Bush frontman to tears.

Evanescence Joined Onstage by Jacoby Shaddix for “Bring Me to Life” at Rock Am Ring: Watch
Image
Evanescence’s 2003 anthem “Bring Me to Life” famously features a rap-metal section. For a while, Amy Lee abandoned that part of the song during the band’s live shows, but lately she’s re-embraced it with the help of some notable vocalists.

For Evanescence’s rendition of “Bring Me to Life” at the Rock Am Ring festival in Germany on Saturday (June 3rd), the band tapped a nu-metal luminary who had performed earlier that day: Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach.

Shaddix was a natural fit — especially considering he helped pioneer the nu-metal rap style with Papa Roach — nailing the vocal part that was performed by Paul McCoy of 12 Stones on the original recording.

Last year, Lee recruited P.O.D. singer Sonny Sandoval to perform the rap section of “Bring Me to Life” during a few shows.

As Lee noted in an interview with Metal Hammer earlier this year, Evanescence...

Tina Turner in Brother Bear (2003)
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome Gave Us The Ultimate Tina Turner Performance
Tina Turner in Brother Bear (2003)
There's a lot that can be said about Tina Turner. The music legend, who passed away on May 24th at the age of 83, had been dubbed the "Queen of Rock n' Roll" thanks to her huge impact on that genre while rising to prominence during the '50s and '60s. Her fit, impressive figure became so famous all by itself that she allegedly had her legs insured for $3.2 million. One of her first and biggest hit songs, "Proud Mary," became a hit that dwarfed the original version by Credence Clearwater Revival. Above all else, Turner was a consummate performer.

Given that, it's a crying shame that she graced the silver screen a mere handful of times, and most of those appearances were as herself. No matter who she was playing, Turner showed up and dug into the performance with as much spirit and professionalism as any of her live shows,...
