Netflix's New Crime Thriller With 100% Rt Score Also Becomes an Instant Streaming Hit
Image
Netflix subscribers can't get enough of the latest Danish limited series. The streamer has doubled down on foreign productions, which have become wildly popular on the platform.

Secrets We Keep is just the latest one of them. The Danish thriller is a new binge-worthy series, and it debuted with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics, attracting more viewers immediately. Shortly after its May 15 release on Netflix, Secrets We Keep became an instant hit, topping the non-English TV charts, per Tudum.

For the week between May 12 and 18, Secrets We Keep attracted 10.3 million views and 38.6 million hours viewed. That was enough to reach the top of the charts, as the show entered the Top 10 in 82 countries, and became the No. 1 show in 28 of them.

The Danish limited series Secret We Keep, or Reservatet in original, is perfect for fans of other Netflix shows like Harlan Coben's Missing You and Hold Tight.

Audiences Aren’t as Hot on Netflix’s New 100% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Thriller Series
Image
After being lauded by critics, Netflix’s gripping new crime series has divided general audiences a bit more. Secrets We Keep, which was originally titled Reservatet, follows Cecille (Marie Bach Hansen), a woman who searches for her neighbor's missing au pair only to find her perfect world crumbling down the deeper she gets into her investigation. The show debuted on Netflix last Thursday, and after earning a flawless 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, it has come to rest at only 76% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. One of the common complaints from audiences keeping the series from attaining perfection is that it’s a bit too predictable, and that some elements are too unrealistic. The show is a limited series, so it’s highly unlikely it will ever receive another season.

Secrets We Keep star Marie Bach Hansen is also known for her roles in The Team and The Last Vermeer,...

Netflix's New Crime Thriller Series Has Perfect 100% Score on Rotten Tomatoes
Image

‘Secrets We Keep’ Netflix Review: Danish Show Is The Perfect Companion Piece To ‘Adolescence’
Image
When the Nirbhaya case happened in New Delhi and a 17-year-old kid was found to be one of the accused, questions were raised about whether our laws should be harsher on juveniles. After spending 3 years in prison, he was rehabilitated, and, right now, he’s out there, living amongst us. All this shook our conscience for a while, and then we went back to living our lives, ignoring the rise in hate crimes and sex crimes because they were limited to the lower and middle classes of society. Then the pandemic happened, and the upper class realized that their kids were micro-dosing on “red pill” content emerging from the “manosphere,” which was teaching them that feminism is the greatest evil that humanity has ever seen. Crimes against women in posh environments finally came under the spotlight, with the “Bois Locker Room” case sending shivers down the spines of anyone with a soul.

Oscars: Denmark Submits ‘The Promised Land’ For Best International Film Feature
Image
Denmark has submitted Nikolaj Arcel’s The Promised Land as its candidate for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

The epic historic drama stars Mads Mikkelsen as the real-life Ludvig von Kahlen, a former soldier who tries to make his fortune by taming the then wild and lawless heath of the Danish Jutland peninsula, so it could be turned over to cultivation following a declaration by King Frederik V.

The film world premiered at Venice and then headed to Telluride and Toronto, is currently screening at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, and will next screen at the Zurich Film Festival, Filmfest Hamburg, Hamptons International Film Festival, and the Mill Valley Film Festival.

The film was selected from a short list which also included Anders Walter’s Before It Ends and Lea Glob’s documentary Apolonia, Apolonia.

The Danish Film Institute-backed film produced by Louise Vesth for...

Mtg’s Viaplay Orders Second Season Of ‘The Great Escape,’ Boards ‘Those Who Kill’
Mtg’s streaming service Viaplay has ordered a second season of its original series “The Great Escape,” a Swedish format which was named Children’s Program of the Year at last year’s Kristallen Awards.

“‘The Great Escape’ follows a Christmas calendar format, with a new episode released every day from Dec.1 to Christmas Eve, and is produced in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish versions. Beppe Singer, Ole André Sivertsen and Niels Christian Meyer headline a local cast in each respective country.

The series is being produced by Nexiko, a Stockholm-based production company, for Viaplay.

Jakob Mejlhede, Mtg’s exec VP and head of programming and content development,” said “The Great Escape” has sparked a “huge demand from kids and parents for a second season.”

“Thousands of budding young scientists across the Nordic region can’t be wrong – mixing creative experiments with a dramatic storyline is a winning formula,” said Mejlhede,...
