Tajh Bellow Off Contract at ‘General Hospital’; Actor Has Portrayed Tj Ashford On Soap Opera Since 2018
Image
After being upped to contract status in February 2022, actor Tajh Bellow (Tj Ashford) is now off contract at “General Hospital.”

According to an update to the show’s end credits on Friday, February 21, Bellow’s name was removed from the contract cast list after previously appearing between cast members Kristina Wagner (Felicia Scorpio) and Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford).

The change in status for Bellow doesn’t come as a surprise considering the actor seemingly gave an indication early last week when he took to his Instagram, saying, “I know a lot of my fans are wondering what’s next for Tj, but before I speak to that I wanted to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together.”

Bellow’s post highlighted his appreciation for all the support he received during last year’s tumultuous storyline which saw Tj and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) lose their daughter following a traumatic accident involving their surrogate,...

General Hospital’s Tajh Bellow Celebrates Before Speaking To What’s Next For Tj
Image
We haven’t seen much of Tj since he and Molly officially split up on General Hospital. Tajh Bellow took over playing Tj in 2018, replacing fan-favorite Tequan Richmond and becoming beloved in his own right. He’s done so well that he’s gotten several accolades for his soap role, and despite the lack of story for Tj lately, Bellow has a lot to celebrate.

2024 Was a Big Year For Him

Bellow shared several pics on Instagram that highlighted the praise he’s been getting recently. The first pic sets the stage by illustrating the actor looking very relaxed while seated at a major historical landmark — the El Badi Palace in Marrakesh, Morocco. His caption read, “What A Year We Had!!!! ✊...

Tajh Bellow Breaks Silence, Teases Update on ‘General Hospital’ Status
Image
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, “General Hospital” star Tajh Bellow (Tj Ashford) looked back on an emotional year in which his character has been through a trying period of his life, particularly the loss of a child, as his daughter with Molly (Kristen Vaganos) sadly passed away following a traumatic accident involving their surrogate, Molly’s sister, Kristina (Kate Mansi), that later caused an initial rift in Tj and Molly’s relationship.

“What a year we had,” opened Bellow in his post, which included a collage of images highlighting key moments from last year. “Playing Dr. Tj Ashford has been a groundbreaking experience for my career. Pouring into Tj as he poured into me has been illuminating in many regards.”

Bahareh Ritter/Disney

Bellow also acknowledged several media outlets that have extensively covered his daytime career since making his debut on the series in 2018, including Soap Opera Network.

Why Tyler James Williams Isn't Returning For Everybody Hates Chris' New Show
Image
The 2000s sitcom Everybody Hates Chris is getting an animated reboot with Everybody Still Hates Chris without Tyler James Williams returning, as his role as the titular Chris has been recast. Comedian and actor Chris Rock co-created and narrated Everybody Hates Chris, which ran for four seasons from 2005-2009 and was loosely based on his experiences growing up in Brooklyn. Tyler James Williams played the young version of Chris, the oldest of three kids, who hopes to be the cool kid at his all-white school but finds it harder than he thought it would be.

The original Everybody Hates Chris was well-received by critics and well-loved by audiences thanks to its snappy writing and heartfelt comedy. The cast of Everybody Loves Chris also received high praise for their performances, both the adult cast and child actors. Central to that cast was Williams, whose breakout role showcased his comedic timing and humor,...

Boomerang (2019)
It might’ve been a Tuesday night in Hollywood, but the “Boomerang” cast, crew and exec. producer Lena Waithe were ready to celebrate “Waithe Wednesdays” at the Bet drama’s second season premiere.

Blumhouse’s Slasher Film ‘Thriller’ Surprises With Netflix Premiere Date
Blumhouse gave us a jump scare today as they announced that they will drop the Divide/Conquer-produced slasher film Thriller on Netflix on April 14. Following the surprise release of last week’s horror Mercy Black, this is the second time Blumhouse has surprised us with a release date for one of their films.

Written and directed by filmmaker Dallas Jackson and executive produced by RZA, Thriller is cut from the same cloth as classic slasher films like Prom Night and Halloween, but subverts the genre which usually takes place in white suburbia and sets it in modern-day Compton, CA, where teenagers experience an unforgiving cityscape of racism and violence.

Through the a black horror lens, the movie follows the story of an introverted young man named Chauncey Page who is sent to juvenile hall after he accidentally kills a young woman who is part of a group of tormentors that...

‘Boomerang’ Season Finale: Lena Waithe Talks Subversive Cliffhanger, Plans For Season 2, And Potential Guest Stars
Boomerang (2019)

With Ben Cory Jones as showrunner and a team of fresh talent in front of and behind the camera, the first 10 episodes of the series brought a new perspective and look to the continuation of the film starring Eddie Murphy as playboy Marcus Graham who learns to love like an actual adult. Waithe and Berry (who starred in the original) brought the story into 2019 with a raw and real sense of storytelling and tonight’s finale titled “Trust” had...

"Do you feel sorry about what you did?" The Orchard has debuted the official trailer for an indie drama titled Savage Youth, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival last year and stopped by a few other small festivals. The second feature from director Michael Curtis Johnson, Savage Youth is set in small town America following a group of young people. Based on a true story, six young lives collide in the most horrific and twisted of ways. Described as a "brutal examination of doomed youth exiled to society's edge." The film stars Grace Victoria Cox, Tequan Richmond, Will Brittain, Chloe Levine, Mitchell Edwards, J. Michael Trautmann, and Sasha Feldman. Looks like yet another forgettable kids-are-crazy indie flick. Eddie Murphy at an event for Good Luck Chuck (2007)
‘Boomerang’ Review: Bet’s Chill Sequel Series Is Less Outrageous, More Nuanced Than Its Charming Predecessor
Eddie Murphy at an event for Good Luck Chuck (2007)
Eddie Murphy’s 1992 romantic comedy “Boomerang” begat Bet’s new sequel series, which doesn’t share its predecessor’s outrageous brand of humor. Instead, the new “Boomerang” is the epitome of Millennial cool — stylish and ambitious, but not willing to be defined in any traditional way.

In the original film, womanizing ad exec Marcus Graham (Eddie Murphy) has the tables turned on him by his co-worker Jacqueline (Robin Givens), who then becomes his superior. Eventually, he falls for the talented artist Angela (Halle Berry). At the time, the film was a revelation of representation — depicting black excellence in a hilarious, heightened environment and boasting a killer supporting cast, including Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Grace Jones, John Witherspoon, Eartha Kitt, and Chris Rock.

Berry joins forces with Lena Waithe (“The Chi”) to produce the Bet sequel series, in which Marcus Graham’s grown daughter Simone (Tetona Jackson) and Jacqueline’s...

Halle Berry ‘Might’ Appear on Bet’s ‘Boomerang’ – But She ‘Can’t Speak’ for the Rest of Film’s Cast
Boomerang (2019)
Fans of the 1992 romantic comedy “Boomerang” who are looking to see the original film’s cast appear on Bet’s upcoming sequel series shouldn’t hold their breath.

Well, no, you might see executive producer Halle Berry reprising her role. But as far as everyone else goes? We’ll have to wait and see, because Berry hasn’t asked her former co-stars to appear on Lena Waithe’s updated take on “Boomerang.”

“You might see me at some point,” Berry told reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour Monday, with a little laugh.

Lena Waithe & Halle Berry Open Up About Bet’s Small-Screen ‘Boomerang’ Remake – TCA
Lena Waithe
Lena Waithe has praised Viacom-owned Bet for speaking the same language as her on the half-hour comedy Boomerang. Waithe and Halle Berry are exec producing the remake of the 1992 movie, in which Berry starred alongside Eddie Murphy. They are joined on the team by by Dime Davis and Ben Cory Jones, who is showrunner on the series from Paramount Television and Bet Networks.

“Most of the shows I do are being pushed through a white filter. The most exciting thing about Bet and Paramount is that we speak the same language,” Waithe said Monday at TCA. “There is no, ‘Well can you have more joy in that moment of black pain’ – I don’t have to do that. That’s no shade at other partners I work for but the best thing is working with people who look like me and trust me. Black and honest as hell.”

‘Boomerang’ Review: A Sexist Rom-Com Gets A Smart Modern Makeover for TV
Boomerang (2019)
The 1992 romantic comedy Boomerang was the last big hit of Eddie Murphy’s remarkable 10-year run as one of the world’s biggest movie stars. In it, Murphy plays Marcus Graham, a commitment-phobic ad executive with impossibly high standards for his conquests (he rejects one gorgeous woman because her feet have bunions), who falls into a love triangle with the similarly ruthless Jacqueline (Robin Givens) and the sweet Angela (Halle Berry). The film isn’t one of the best of that period for Murphy. But it was one of the...

Sundance 2019: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez In The House & ‘Boomerang’ Preview
Lena Waithe
Exclusive: The Lena Waithe- and Halle Berry-executive produced Boomerang recharge doesn’t debut until February, but Sundance Film Festival attendees are going to get a world premiere preview of the Bet series in just over a week.

In addition, eaving the likely still ongoing government shutdown behind for the snow of Utah, new Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be bringing some of her much-analyzed moves to the festival too. A Sff juror last year, Jada Pinkett-Smith is returning to Sundance as well for what is described as a fireside chat by the host of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk at MacRo founder and CEO Charles D. King’ Main Street lodge.

Back for a second year at the Robert Redford-founded Park City-based bash, the MacRo locale will be screening at least one episode of the Tequan Richmond and Tetona Jackson led Boomerang on January 26, nearly three weeks before...
