One of the Best Game Shows Ever Also Has Some of the Smallest Payouts
Image
Throughout its triumphant run on Discovery Channel, fans dreamed of being picked up by the infamous Cash Cab. The series, hosted by stand-up comedian Ben Bailey, saw contestants enter the titular taxi vehicle as the ceiling lights were illuminated and musical fanfare played. After Bailey dropped the line, "Do you want to play?" the game was on as he raced to their destination. Of course, three strikes, and they're out literally dropped off on whatever street of New York City they failed their final question. When he did not appear back in the newsroom following a trip to London, senior editorial leadership was advised he was on “compassionate leave” with no further explanation. By the end of last month,...

Daytime Emmys Boycott Called After ‘Bulls—‘ Decision to Strip Actresses of Award (Exclusive)
The drama behind the scenes of the Daytime Emmys is getting as juicy as the soaps they honor.

At least three top daytime veterans on Monday called for a boycott of the event after the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ recent decision to revoke the awards of two actresses over submissions errors, while allowing a male actor who committed a similar infraction to keep his.

Emmy-nominated producer Michael Caruso, Emmy-winning director and producer Sonia Blangiardo and Emmy-winning actress and producer Crystal Chappell told TheWrap that they “are not willing to participate in future Emmy competitions” until NATAS agrees to an outside audit of all submission reels in the digital series category and clears up the underlying issues about submissions.

“That is an insult to our creative teams and we are no longer willing to look the other way,” they said in a joint statement.

Cash Cab Renewed at Discovery Channel and it Will Return in July!
The Hollywood Reporter brought us the good news this week that Cash Cab has been picked up by the Discovery Channel and will be back on our screens this July! This is such great news, as Cash Cab is such a fun and original show. Ben Bailey returns as the show host, who drives around the streets of New York City, as a mini-van Taxi cab driver, picking up pedestrians looking for a ride. When they hop in and state their destination, a fun blast of music starts to play, along with flashing lights, and Bailey exclaims that they are on the show Cash Cab! They are given trivia questions worth escalating amounts, which they have to answer before the time is up. If they answer three questions incorrectly, their ride is up and they must get out (at least they got that far for free!), but if they get...

Exclusive: Watch Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt in first full Delivery Man trailer
There's nothing like finding out you've accidentally fathered 533(!) children to really kick-start your life. At least that's the quite literally surprising premise behind the fall comedy Delivery Man. We brought you a sneak peek back in May, but now we've got the first full-length look at the October release.

The film is an English-language remake of the popular 2011 French Canadian flick Starbuck, and just happens to be helmed by that film's original director/star, Ken Scott.

Taking on the Scott role this time around is Frat Pack kingpin Vince Vaughn (finding himself so far from money here that his Swingers character would be apoplectic) who finds himself joined by a stellar supporting cast that includes comedic gem Chris Pratt along with Cobie Smulders, Bobby Moynihan, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson.

Produced by Steven Spielberg, Delivery Man hits theatres this October. Catch the Canadian premiere of the first full trailer after the cut!

Heather Tom, Thorsten Kaye, and Katherine Kelly Lang in The Bold and the Beautiful (1987)
Buzzmakers: Kimye's Baby & Remembering Gandolfini
Heather Tom, Thorsten Kaye, and Katherine Kelly Lang in The Bold and the Beautiful (1987)

1. James Gandolfini Dies in Italy

Actor James Gandolfini, perhaps best known for his role as Tony Soprano died June 19 in Italy. He was 51.

Gandolfini's managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders confirmed that the Golden Globe winner passed away while on holiday in Rome, Italy. Reports suggest that his death came after a possible heart attack.

"Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply," Armstrong and Sanders said in a joint statement. "He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving."

HBO also released a statement, saying, "We're all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family. He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years...

5 Unforgettably Strange Moments From The 2013 Daytime Emmys
(Source)

The best award shows have their dubious moments, and the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards — which Snicks lovingly liveblogged last night– simply teemed with unexpected and bizarre moments that brought the best (and weirdest) out of many presenters. I also enjoyed planned hilarity like Kathy Griffin‘s presenter speech, in which she quoted four lines of nutty dialogue from nominated soap operas and Betty White‘s tribute to the late game show producer Bob Stewart. But here are five wacky moments I’m still thinking about.

1. Carrie Fisher’s wild introduction to the Best Animated Show category is inspiring, drug-fueled, and maybe poetic.

Carrie Fisher, the goddess who once composed my favorite tweet of all time (and I quote: “Oh BiPolar the way I’m on Letterman tonight w/ my peers Rihanna & Zac Efron pray 4 me”), introduced the Best Animated Show category. Struck me as apparent that she was...

Beverly Hills, Calif. — "Days of Our Lives" won drama series honors for just the second time in 40 years at the Daytime Emmys in a rough-hewn ceremony that included more upsets and an envelope mix-up on Sunday night.

The NBC soap opera that began in 1965 beat out defending champion "General Hospital" and former three-time winner "The Bold and the Beautiful," among others.

The category included the only four remaining soaps still airing on the broadcast networks in addition to "One Life to Live," which has found new life on the Internet after being canceled.

"Days" only other drama series win was in 1978.

The show claimed one other trophy: Chandler Massey as outstanding younger actor.

Doug Davidson of "The Young and the Restless" and Heather Tom of "The Bold and the Beautiful" won lead acting honors.

Davidson earned his first career trophy for a role he's played since 1978. Tom, who previously was on "Y&R,...

But presenter Carrie Fisher did talk about dropping acid...

Among the winners (listed below) was also George Lucas, who took home his very first Emmy for his animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The show, hosted by Morning Express' Robin Meade, Good Morning America's Sam Champion, and A.J. Hammer of Showbiz Tonight, contained a few production gaffes, including a misplaced awards envelope that left the cast of The Talk stranded on the stage while the crew searched to find...

Exclusive: Vince Vaughn gets a surprise in first Delivery Man trailer
It's all too common these days for Hollywood to pick up on the success of a foreign-language film and to set about making their own version. What's decidedly rare is to see the original film's director step behind the camera again to helm the remake. But that's exact what Canadian actor/director Ken Scott is doing with this English-language remake of his own 2011 Canadian comedy Starbuck.

The Dreamworks flick sees Frat Pack kingpin Vince Vaughn taking on Scott's lead role, joined by a supporting cast that includes the always funny Chris Pratt along with Cobie Smulders, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson.

Produced by Steven Spielberg, The Delivery Man hits theatres this October. Catch the Canadian premiere of the first teaser after the cut!

The 10 Best Candidates to Take Over "Jeopardy!" From Alex Trebek
I got the memo about Alex Trebek potentially leaving Jeopardy! in 2016, and that sent my mind into a frenzy (accompanied by the ping-pang-pow sound effect of a Daily Double). Alex Trebek's name is synonymous with Jeopardy! for a reason: He is an astoundingly great host who knows so much trivia and loves the learning process. You might think his knack for accents and correcting contestants is pretentious or annoying, but that discipline is so essential to the dignity and respect of the show's difficult material. Hell, this man hosts the National Geography Bee every year. He is a TV legend and it pains me to think of him departing the series.

But the task becomes a little bit easier when I think of some of the qualified people who could replace him. A few names have been thrown about loudly -- particularly Matt Lauer's and Anderson Cooper's...

'Back to the Future' DeLorean Taxi Gets You There On Time
What if you were already 30 minutes late to a meeting, but you hailed a cab that got you there an hour early?

Wishful thinking? Not when your taxi has gull-wing doors and a Flux Capacitor, as New York fashion design company Nooka (via Mike Lubrano Advertising) has done in a new ad campaign featuring a yellow "Back to the Future"-style DeLorean cab.

Now settle down, New Yorkers. We're pretty sure you can't flag this one down yet, as it's apparent from the pics that this is just a Photoshop mock-up, at least for now. If it does hit the streets for real, we have a feeling Ben Bailey's "Cash Cab" will be quickly usurped for Doc Brown's flaming tread as the most fantasized mid-town ride. One question, though: does it charge by the mile, minute, day or decade?

Needless to say, when this baby hits 88-miles-per-hour, you're gonna see some serious s**t.

Vince Vaughn Comedy Starbuck Changes Its Title To The Delivery Man
We've been calling this one for a while, but today the move has finally been made. The new Vince Vaughn sperm-donor comedy Starbuck is a remake of the French Canadian film of the same name from last year, but as long as the project has been in pre-production we've predicted that the name wouldn't stick around long. Now the title has officially been changed. Coming Soon has learned that the film has changed its name from Starbuck to The Delivery Man. While the site doesn't say why the title was switched, one can assume it has something to do with a certain mega huge insanely popular chain of coffee stores. The film is being directed by Ken Scott - who also directed the original movie - and the supporting cast includes Chris Pratt, Cobie Smulders, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson. The film follows the tale of a middle-aged man (Vaughn...
