Taylor Sheridan’s ‘F.A.S.T.’ Casts Lakeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin and Trevante Rhodes
Image
The “F.A.S.T.” cast is quickly coming together.

Lakeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin and Trevante Rhodes will join lead Brandon Sklenar and Juliana Canfield in the Warner Bros. action thriller, which was written by Taylor Sheridan and directed by his frequent collaborator Ben Richardson, who worked with Sklenar on Sheridan’s “1923.”

In “F.A.S.T.,” Sklenar (who appeared in “Drop” earlier this year for Blumhouse) plays a former special forces commando, who is hired by the DEA to go against a group of CIA-protected drug dealers operating in his town. This means that there are plenty of roles for colorful characters on both sides of the law – characters that these latest cast members will undoubtedly play.

Sheridan wrote the script for “F.A.S.T.” in the mid-2010’s, when he was still one of Hollywood’s hottest screenwriters and before he had expanded his empire to the small screen.

“F.A.S.T.” will begin production...

Tyler Perry's Next Netflix Film Gets First-Look Image
Image
After scoring on a series of Netflix dramas, including Straw and Madea's Destination Wedding, Tyler Perry prepares to release his next feature-length project for the streaming giant. Perry's upcoming faith-based film, Ruth & Boaz, gets a first look as he looks to bring a popular Bible story to life.

Per Collider, Perry's Ruth & Boaz offered a new sneak peek showing the titular couple flirting with each other during the modern-day biblical retelling. Empire star Serayah McNeill portrays Ruth, while P-Valley actor Tyler Lepley portrays Boaz.

Perry stepped back from the director's chair for Ruth & Boaz, producing the upcoming drama alongside pastor and best-selling author DeVon Franklin. Trees and Peace's Alanna Brown helmed the project, with Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan co-penning the screenplay. Production on Ruth & Boaz took place last fall.

Ruth & Boaz is a spin on the famous biblical story, where Ruth sought food to...

Image
Cameron Diaz‘s comeback movie, Back in Action, has officially become Netflix’s most-watched movie in 2025 so far, outpacing Taraji P. Henson‘s Straw. Her long-awaited return has finally paid off.

Netflix released a biannual Engagement Report in July for the first half of 2025. According to this report, Back in Action racked up an astounding 164.7 million views, outperforming all other titles on the platform. In comparison, Straw, a psychological drama directed by Tyler Perry and led by Henson, pulled in 102.9 million views. The movie stands in second position, right after Back in Action.

The data, based on total hours viewed divided by runtime, reflects Netflix’s internal viewership metric. Released alongside Netflix’s Q2 earnings in July, the report captures around 99% of all viewing activity on the platform. It showed that overall watch time rose to 95 billion hours, slightly up from last year.

The Plan for New Paramount: 7 Things We Learned From Talking to David Ellison and His Exec Team
Image
Hours after the deal was approved, David Ellison and his leadership team took the stage of 1515 Broadway in New York City to discuss the topic everyone in media has been feverishly talking about for months: the future of New Paramount.

There’s a reason for the curiosity: A lot is riding on whether Ellison and co. can turn Paramount around at a time when media is going through a broader industry shakeup. Between the future of Paramount+, its ability to supercharge its franchises and whether it can compete with some of the bigger players in the field, there remain a lot of questions about the fate of the company.

Many of Paramount’s broad plans were outlined in an open letter from chairman and CEO Ellison as well as a Thursday morning press conference that included TheWrap. But following a heated Q&a about FCC regulations and CBS’ appointed ombudsman,...

30 Actors Who Looked Completely Unrecognisable in Their Roles After Extreme Movie Transformations
Image
Movie-making is an art, no doubt about it. But some actors treat it like a full-contact sport. Behind every unforgettable performance, there’s often an insane amount of preparation. For some stars, that means going way beyond just memorizing lines. We’re talking hours in the makeup chair, extreme movie transformations, and physical sacrifices that make you wonder if they ever found their way back to normal life.

Actors like Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and Charlize Theron don’t just play a character. They live the characters they play. Whether it’s dropping or gaining a shocking amount of weight, piling on prosthetics, or vanishing behind layers of makeup, these transformations blur the line between actor and character in the best possible way.

Directors love it because it keeps things grounded in reality without relying on heavy CGI. And for us as viewers, it makes the entire movie feel that much more immersive.

Not Continuity Errors, Eyes of Wakanda’s Biggest Challenge Was a Team ‘Full of Die-hard Fans’

Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda reportedly had a dedicated team who were huge fans of the material and were enthusiastic to give their best. The animated anthology series has been in development since Avengers: Endgame and will be released this week on August 1, earlier than its original release date of August 27. Ryan Coogler acts as an executive producer.

Creator and showrunner Todd Harris mentioned that the team at Marvel, including the animators and other creatives, was extremely dedicated to the show. The success and standard of Black Panther were something that they always held on to. Mistakes such as continuity errors and logistical issues were reportedly not the problem with the crew and were not the cause for the long development stage. It was a bigger challenge to control themselves and be completely indulgent (via Animation Magazine).

Tyler Perry Confirms New Sequel To $116M Comedy Franchise, Original Cast Expected To Return
Image
Tyler Perry may not be the most consistent director in terms of critical reception, but he has had an incredibly impressive rate of production. A multi-hyphenate talent who has served as producer, writer, director, and actor — and sometimes all on the same project — he has an impressive filmography that mostly includes comedies.

Perry is best known for his work on the Madea franchise. This began with the character's appearance in The Diary of A Mad Black Woman, a 2005 film that Perry wrote and acted in. Most recently, that franchise continued with the 2025 Netflix release Madea's Destination Wedding.

Perry's output has been even more prominent in the last few years because of his deal with Netflix. The streamer formed this multi-year partnership with Perry in October 2023, which would allow Perry to produce multiple movies for the streamer.

This deal has been pretty successful for the creator. His movie Straw, which came out this year,...

The couple had signed a $100 million contract with the streaming giant in 2020. As per The Sun‘s report, “There is no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course.”

As the contract nears its end, the ‘Suits’ star is reportedly grasping at straws, trying to find the next project that will be perfect for her. According to an insider who confided in Rob Shutter (via Substack), Markle is “Terrified of fading into irrelevance.”

To add to it, Markle would even accept a seat at the table over at ‘The View,’ the insider claims. In their words, “At this point, she’d take a hot topics seat next to Whoopi Goldberg if they let her.” The source continues that Markle is in desperate need of...

Tyler Perry’s $260 Million Lawsuit: The Billionaire Suffers Another Setback
Image
Tyler Perry reportedly got abandoned by his Royal Family friends, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after his scandalous $260 million lawsuit. He was accused of s*xual harassment last month, and Markle & Harry want no part in the case. Most importantly, they don’t want to get dragged into the trial as witnesses.

Perry has a close relationship with the royal couple, and he is the godfather to their daughter, Princess Lilibet. He owned an $18 million mansion in Beverly Hills, LA, which he reportedly offered up to Harry and Markle when they stepped down from the royal family. The couple eventually purchased their own $14 million home in Montecito.

Royal critics slammed Markle and Harry’s silence on the matter. They believed that Perry had stood by their side during some of their toughest times. They felt that it was hypocritical that the couple remained silent now. An insider shared with RadarOnline...

Tyler Perry Shared His Billionaire Secret With Ryan Coogler to Get Ownership Over ‘Sinners’
Image
When Ryan Coogler walked into that make-or-break Hollywood boardroom to negotiate the fate of Sinners, he wasn’t just armed with a brilliant script and box office clout; he was carrying Tyler Perry’s playbook. The Creed and Black Panther director stunned the industry by securing a deal that gave him ownership rights to Sinners, a move nearly unheard of in studio filmmaking. But as Perry recently revealed, this bold strategy was no coincidence.

Everybody’s talking about the deal Ryan Coogler had for Sinners… I did that almost 20 years ago for Madea. I was letting him know how to talk in meetings, how to structure this deal — and to see him pull this off, I cried. I applaud this as a Black man — to get ownership.

And it paid off handsomely. Sinners, a haunting vampire thriller set in 1930s Mississippi, has become one of the highest-grossing original Black films ever,...

Keep reading to find out more…“I fired my aunt,” Tyler explained on the Den of Kings podcast. “She said she wanted a job. She would always call, asking for money. Sylvester Stallone's Criminally Underrated Adventure Drama With 83% Rt Audience Score Is Finally Getting Recognition on Streaming
Image
Sylvester Stallone is primarily known for his acting, for which he received two Academy Award nominations. However, the actor is also a director and a producer, and he has been behind many titles without starring in them.

One of them is 2024's Lost on a Mountain in Maine, for which Stallone is a producer. The film is an adventure drama based on the true story told in Donn Fendler's book of the same name, which narrates the author's experiences as a 12-year-old boy lost in the wilderness. Lost on a Mountain in Maine, which most fell under the radar, has reportedly found new life on Netflix one year later, according to Tudum.

Lost on a Mountain in Maine premiered on Jul. 13, 2024, at the Maine International Film Festival and hit theaters on Nov. 1 of the same year. It hit digital and PVOD on Jan. 7, 2025, with physical media released on Mar.

Louis Gossett Jr: Five Great Roles
Image
Last year, veteran character actor Louis Gossett Jr, who got his acting start in Broadway productions back in 1950s (including Take a Giant Step and a 1959 production of A Raisin in the Sun where he shared the stage with Sidney Poitier), passed away at 87. But he leaves behind a rich legacy, so let’s look back at five of his coolest roles.

An Officer and a Gentleman:

Louis Gossett Jr. won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in this, and became the first African-American actor to win an Academy Award in that category in the process. Next to R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket,...

Tyler Perry’s 14% Rotten Tomatoes Rom-Com Defies Controversy For Another Week of Streaming Success
Image
Tyler Perry has come under fire recently after being accused of sexual assault and workplace harassment by The Oval actor Derek Dixon, but his latest releases haven’t suffered for the disturbing allegations. Perry most recently wrote, directed, and starred in Madea’s Destination Wedding, the latest film in the Madea franchise following the titular character who goes to the Bahamas for a destination wedding, only for tensions to arise which lead to suspicions about the marriage’s legitimacy. Madea’s Destination Wedding hit Netflix on July 11, and the film is currently charting in the top 10 in more than 50 countries globally, including the United States. This success also comes in spite of poor scores of 14% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and even a 44% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

Perry also recently found success with Straw, the psychological thriller starring Taraji P. Hensonthat spent several weeks atop streaming charts. Henson spoke about her connection...

Not Even Madea Can Take the Streaming Crown From This 96% Rotten Tomatoes Must-Watch Adventure on Netflix
Image
Tyler Perry (Sistas) has proven himself as a valuable asset to Netflix. Just recently, the comedian and filmmaker managed to take over the streamer's charts with the surprise hit movie Straw, which dominated the global Top 10 and accumulated millions of views. It was pretty safe to say that the new installment of the Madeafranchise, Madea's Destination Wedding, would be a top performer – and it was. The new movie just didn't count on a dark horse that is quickly becoming one of Netflix's biggest hits ever: KPop Demon Hunters.

This past week, the animated movie continued its winning streak among the Netflix Top 10 globally. Ever since it premiered, the movie has ranked among the most-watched titles on the platform, and this week it added 24 million views to its total – which, at 80 million views, makes it one of Netflix's biggest animated movies ever. In addition to a surprising performance on Netflix, the...

KPop Demon Hunters Retakes Top Spot On Netflix Chart Again After Losing To Tyler Perry's 15% Sequel
Image
KPop Demon Hunters has risen back to the top of a major streaming chart. The Netflix hit is an animated fantasy musical about a KPop girl group, Huntr/x, who moonlight as demon hunters and face off against the demonic boy band Saja Boys. The KPop Demon Hunters cast includes Arden Cho, Daniel Dae Kim, Lee Byung-hun, and Ken Jeong.

The movie, which is on track to have Netflix's most-watched animated feature launch in history, was previously toppled from its position at No. 1 on the platform's daily Top 10 movies chart in the U.S. by the Tyler Perry sequel Madea's Destination Wedding, which is performing well in spite of its dismal 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, per Netflix's latest daily chart, KPop Demon Hunters is back on top in the United States. On July 18, it pushed Madea's Destination Wedding down to No. 2, climbing back up to its perch at No.

Netflix reports 16% revenue boost as ‘Adolescence’ tops first half viewing
Image
Netflix has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of 2025 and touted what co-ceo Ted Sarandos describes as “perhaps the most anticipated slate of new movies that we’ve ever had” for the rest of this year.

For the second quarter of the calendar year, the streaming giant reported revenue of $11.08bn, up 15.9% on the $9.56bn tally for the second quarter of 2024. Operating income was up 45% from the previous year’s second quarter, to $3.78bn, and earnings per share were $7.19, compared to $4.88 for the previous year’s quarter.

Netflix’s Most Viewed Series for 2025’s First Half Is … Not ‘Squid Game’
Image
Netflix has released its semiannual viewing report for the first half of 2025, with a breakout hit that originated outside the U.S. topping the series rankings.

It’s not Squid Game — at least not according to the way Netflix ranks its programming. Adolescence, the critically acclaimed U.K. limited series that earned 13 Emmy nominations earlier this week, takes the crown with 144.8 million views worldwide since its March 13 premiere.

Squid Game is not far behind, however. Season two of the Korean thriller, released in the last week of 2024, is second among all series with 117.3 million views from January to June. The third and final season is one spot back with 71.5 million views, despite having premiered just four days before the close of the half-year.

Netflix released its six-month data report, which it says covers some 95 billion hours of viewing worldwide (a slight increase from the second half of 2024) in conjunction with...

As ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Sings On Netflix, Ted Sarandos Talks Up Original Animated Features
Image
KPop Demon Hunters, released June 20 and, at 80 million views, one of Netflix’s biggest animated films ever with chart-topping music to boot, had co-ceo Ted Sarandos singing its praises today.

The film “is a phenomenal success out of the gate. One of the things that I’m excited, really proud of the team over, is [that it’s] original animation — not a sequel, not a live action remake. Original animation … is very tough and has been struggling for years.” Leo, The Sea Beast and now Kpop Demon Hunters are original animation and “we’re super thrilled about that,” he said on a call after the giant streamer’s second-quarter earnings, noting the latter’s winning mix of music and pop culture.

“Getting it right matters. The storytelling matters. The innovation and animation itself matters. And the fact that people are in love with this film and in love with the music from this film,...

‘Adolescence’ and ‘Back in Action’ Are Netflix’s Most-Watched TV Show and Movie in First Half of 2025
Image
Netflix released its biannual viewership report Thursday alongside its earnings, with U.K. breakout hit “Adolescence” topping the TV side and action-comedy “Back in Action” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz landing as the most-viewed movie on the service.

The latest Engagement Report covers about 99% of the viewing of what Netflix members watched from January through June 2025. Netflix measures engagement by views, which it calculates by total hours viewed divided by runtime. Overall, subscribers watched 95 billion hours globally in the first half of 2025, up slightly from 94 billion in the year-earlier period. That 1% uptick in engagement came amid higher competition for Netflix, co-ceo Greg Peters said on the earnings interview Thursday, and he said the company expects a stronger increase in viewing for the second half of 2025 “given the strength of our second-half slate.”

More than one-third of all viewing came from non-English language titles, and 10 of the 25 most-watched series in...
