When David Fincher sat down to helm Seven, he was coming off the bruising experience of his directorial debut, Alien 3. Studio interference had left him frustrated, even disillusioned. “I thought I was done with movies,” Fincher confessed in a recent interview with Los Angeles Times. Yet, the gritty, rain-soaked thriller that became Seven offered him a rare opportunity: creative freedom. He knew the film needed contrasting energies to balance its dark narrative. “Brad and Morgan were polar opposites, and that’s exactly what the story needed,” Fincher explained.

Killing Joke guitarist Kevin “Geordie” Walker’s influence is vast: Metallica attempted to emulate his guitar snarl on their cover of “The Wait”; Kurt Cobain admittedly ripped off his riff to “Eighties” for “Come As You Are”; LCD Soundsystem synthesized his riff on “Change” and turned it into “Losing My Edge.” Other artists who praised Walker’s playing and Killing Joke include Jimmy Page, Trent Reznor, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, and all of Faith No More. Yet Walker himself never became a household name before his death on...

Killing Joke have released the new song “Full Spectrum Dominance” in celebration of their sold-out show this Sunday (March 12th) at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The legendary UK rock act has also unveiled a “Pure Trance” remix of the song by band member Youth.
Led by frontman Jaz Coleman, Killing Joke’s blend of post-punk, industrial music, and gothic rock has influenced such acts as Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and Metallica.
“Full Spectrum Dominance” offers a bit of all the aforementioned genres, with Killing Joke sounding in fine form roughly 45 years after their formation. The song follows last year’s Lord of Chaos EP, which marked the band’s first new music in seven years.
Still featuring classic members Coleman, Youth (bass), Geordie Walker (guitar), and Paul Ferguson (drums), Killing Joke will perform their 1980 self-titled debut album and their 1981 sophomore effort, What’s This For…!, in their entirety...
