Biography

    • Roman Vladimirovich Davydov is Soviet director of animated films. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1979). He graduated from the Moscow Industrial College, but very soon he showed the extraordinary ability of the artist. In 1932, Davydov won the competition for cartoonists, and in 1934 he graduated from the courses of cartoonists at the Crocodile magazine. In 1937, Davydov entered the courses of animator artists at the Soyuzmultfilm studio and for many years worked as an animator with the leading directors Vladimir Polkovnikov, Dmitriy Babichenko, Ivan Ivanov-Vano, Mstislav Pashchenko and others. The debut film as the director for Roman Davydov was Kolobok (1956). In 1966, Davydov began work on a film based on the 'Book of the Jungle' by Rudyard Kipling. In 1967-1971, the five-part series The Adventures of Mowgli (1973) was released, which became a landmark work for the entire Soyuzmultfilm studio, which earned the praise of colleagues and the love of the audience. He taught at training courses and advanced training of animators.
