General Hospital Spoilers — It’s Been an Honor

General Hospital Spoilers: Does Rebecca Shaw Hold the Key to Spencer Cassadine’s Return?
Image
General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease how Spencer Cassadine (most recently Nicholas Alexander Chavez) could return to Port Charles.

A certain someone connected to Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) long ago happens to live in Paris-Rebecca Shaw; (Natalia Livingston) might Spencer have been in Rebecca’s care all this time?

Spencer Could Have Amnesia And Rebecca Has Been Caring For Him

Rebecca is the late Emily Quartermaine’s (Natalia Livingston) twin sister who dated Nikolas years before Spencer was born. She left town and moved to Paris, France on a scholarship that Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) was going to use for Emily.

However, Rebecca loved Paris and decided to move there, and never did return; might she have found Nikolas washed up on the bank of the Seine and helped him?

Nikolas himself had something similar happen many years ago, but unfortunately the woman who helped him kept him captive...

General Hospital’s Cutthroat Cain: Drew’s Most Dastardly Deed Yet
Image
General Hospital’s Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) has really done it this time. He got Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) to officially kick him out the family — and who could blame her?

The son she adopted as an adult turned out to be someone she would never want to associate with, which means at this point, she has joined most of Port Charles.

“Smarmy Congressman Steals Nephew’s Wife” might sound like a headline for the Invader, but it’s true to life, at least Port Charles life. However, that’s not the worst thing Drew has done lately.

Crypt Craziness From Drew Cain

As Drew salivated over destroying the family crypt, all anyone could talk about was how Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) brother and parents were in there.

But Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle), Lila Quartermaine (Anna Lee), and Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) aren’t the only Qs in that crypt.

Image
So long yet again, Ava.

Tamara Braun revealed via Instagram that she’s leaving Days of Our Lives on April 3. Given that it’s April Fools, Deadline checked with the Peacock soap to make sure it’s true.

It is.

Here’s What Natalia Livingston Thinks About Returning To General Hospital
Image
Natalia Livingston is best known for her role as Emily Quartermaine in General Hospital. She played the role until her character died in 2007. She popped up over the years, making appearances in 2013 and 2014. In a new interview, she revealed whether she would return.

How She Joined Gh

Livingston appeared on the Then Is Now podcast. She revealed how she got her big break on the ABC soap. Livingston tried out for many acting jobs. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry can be hard to break into. At first, Livingston was hesitant about joining the show.

It took some convincing from her father, who told her to approach it like a “vacation” rather than a “job.” Livingston admitted she was “green” when she “first started.” Though she was in “many acting classes,” it was her “first time on TV.” The small screen is different from the theater stage.

She didn’t want to watch the soap.

Who Will Kill General Hospital’s Drew?
Image
Ever since this latest version of Drew returned to General Hospital, he has been rubbing people the wrong way — both on-screen and off. As of now, almost everyone in Port Charles seems to have turned against him. Which, on soaps, can only mean one thing: a whodunnit is on the way? Drew seems to have a target on his back (and on his forehead). But who will end up doing the honors?

An Affair To Remember

Drew (Cameron Mathison) slept with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) in her kids’ nursery while she was still married to Michael (ex-Chad Duell). Michael can’t exactly wreak his revenge at the moment — he’s in Germany recovering from his burns. But you know how Carly (Laura Wright) is when someone slights one of her precious babies. Especially Michael, her favorite baby. If he can’t punish Willow and Drew for what they’ve done,...

Remembering General Hospital’s Young Adults When They Were Children
Image
General Hospital has adult romance, young adult romance, and even teen romance, but we rarely see childhood romance on the soap. The exception was the Spencer, Emma, Cameron, and Josslyn love quadrangle.

Young Love

When the foursome of Spencer (then Nicolas Bechtel), Emma (then Brooklyn Rae Silzer), Cameron (then Michael Leone), and Josslyn (then Hannah Nordberg) were elementary school age, there was fierce competition for boyfriend/girlfriend status. It was adorable.

Spencer and Cam were both in love with Emma. They each used their charms to win her affection. Although the young Cassadine wined and dined her, she chose Cameron for his caring and sweetness. But it didn’t end there. The precocious Spencer still tried to woo her away from his friend, so he used Josslyn to make her jealous. Joss was happy to oblige because she was in love with Cam. A dinner was arranged for the foursome.

The General Hospital cast and crew have been dealt several losses over the last few years.

Over the weekend, Leslie Charleson became the latest in a string of deaths that have plagued the show.

She was the longest-running cast member on the ABC soap, having taken over the role of Monica Quartermaine in 1977.

Leslie’s brilliance shone through in every storyline, and those fortunate enough to work with her had nothing but glowing reviews.

The last time she was seen in Port Charles was in December 2023, but she has been mentioned quite a bit over the previous year.

Unfortunately, the show must now create a tribute for Monica Quartermaine while mourning Leslie’s death.

Steve Burton at an event for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005)
General Hospital (Gh) spoilers and updates reveal changes are afoot at General Hospital, and one of the most significant developments is Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) return to the Quartermaine mansion.

Following the accident, Jason has distanced himself from the Quartermaine legacy, choosing instead to embrace a life alongside Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) rather than the corporate world of his family.

General Hospital Spoilers: Things Changed And Jason Changed After His Tbi

Longtime viewers will recall the episode when Jason, seeing his brother Aj Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) rushed out of the Quartermaine mansion to stop Aj from driving drunk.

Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) saw the wreck, when Aj crashed into a tree on the Quartermaine grounds and Jason was thrown against a large rock, causing a traumatic brain injury.

Steve Burton reflects on General Hospital’s Quartermaine legacy
Steve Burton at an event for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005)
Things are changing at General Hospital, and one of the biggest ones is Jason (Steve Burton) moving back into the Quartermaine mansion.

Since the accident, Jason hasn’t considered himself a Quartermaine, preferring his life with Sonny (Maurice Benard) over the business-savvy family.

Monica (Leslie Charleson) has always been someone he can depend on, and his relationship with Emily (Natalia Livingston) was incredibly special.

Jason is now forced to be there for his son because of Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) death. He and Dante (Dominica Zamprogna) decided raising the kids together would be best, and Drew (Cameron Mathison) is seemingly on board.

During a recent break on the set of General Hospital, Steve gave followers an inside look at the Quartermaine foyer, complete with the photos of Quartermaines past on the table.

The Quartermaines were a massive part of the show, and as the number of Qs continues to dwindle,...

Image
Recent developments have seen a few characters, and their actors, leave General Hospital. However, fans don’t think they’ve seen the last of a few of these actors just yet. In particular, some feels there’s already a perfect place for them on Days of Our Lives.

Here’s What Happened To Ric And Liz On General Hospital
Image
General Hospital’s Elizabeth Webber and Ric Lansing have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. With Rick Hearst’s recent reprisal of the sleazy lawyer, they may just rekindle their toxic romance. Let’s take a look at their history together.

His Misdeeds Shocked Her

In 2002, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric met and found a mutual attraction. However, Ric had a couple of things working against him: he was actively pursuing a vendetta against his half-brother Sonny (Maurice Benard) — who he blamed for causing their mother to abandon him — and he was secretly having an affair with mobster Faith Roscoe (Cynthia Preston) although he really loved Liz.

Faith didn’t want to share Ric with her, so she put a snake in her art studio, where Liz got bitten and landed in the hospital. Fortunately, she survived and learned she was pregnant with Ric’s baby. They ended up...

Blaze Wasn’t Jacqueline Grace Lopez’s First General Hospital Character
Image
Jacqueline Grace Lopez may have said goodbye to General Hospital, but to some eagle-eyed viewers, she may be remembered as more than just Blaze.

Not Her First Rodeo

Lopez debuted the character of Blaze in 2022, starting out as Chase’s (Josh Swickard) duet partner and eventually becoming Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) client and Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) girlfriend. Although the actress turned what she recalled as a 10-episode part into a two-year gig, it was far from the first time she had been in Port Charles.

Lopez’s first role on Gh happened in 2015 when she appeared as Leo’s (Easton Rocket Sweda) unnamed babysitter. The actress was credited in the same role again in 2016.

A Common Theme

It’s not uncommon on Gh for actors to play more than one role throughout their careers. Some memorable instances include Natalia Livingston playing Emily and later returning to play her twin sister Rebecca,...

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rebecca Herbst Who Celebrates 27 Years Of Playing Legacy Character, Elizabeth Baldwin
Image
‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers reveal that on August 1, 1997, a new resident came to Port Charles. A young, pretty, and rebellious teenager named Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) arrived on the scene as the daughter of Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson) and Carolyn Webber (Denise Crosby).

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rebecca Almost Wasn’t Cast On Gh

She’s also the granddaughter of Steve Hardy (John Beradino) and Audrey Hardy (Rachel Ames). Liz came to town to live with Audrey and her sister, Sarah Webber (Jennifer Sky).

Rebecca almost wasn’t cast on Gh. She initially tested for the role of Sarah, but she didn’t get the part. However, the writers were so impressed by her that they wrote a new part specifically to suit her.

That’s how she got the role of Liz. Rebecca started to shine as an actress after her character was raped. Liz’s personality drastically changed after that happened.

Finola Hughes, Maurice Benard, Steve Burton, Genie Francis, Kelly Monaco, Laura Wright, Donnell Turner, Tanisha Harper, Josh Kelly, Eden McCoy, Josh Swickard, and Tabyana Ali in General Hospital (1963)
General Hospital viewers were sad to learn that although Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s leave was temporary, it was made permanent.

Sprina fans had rooted for the couple, with a huge fan base growing because of Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Spencer.

She was backburnered while Nicholas was filming a Ryan Murphy show about the Menendez brothers, but it seems the General Hospital writers are ready to use her again.

The young adult scene has dwindled over the years. It was once a huge part of the show, especially when Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), and Emily (Natalia Livingston) were a part of the show.

Giovanni Mazza (Gio) joined the show with a contract and is connected to the Cerullos, Falconeris, and Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Living at the Quartermaine mansion is a perk, but his intrigue with Trina will heat things up.

General Hospital Spoilers: Maurice Benard Address Mental Health Issues On The Show
Image
General Hospital Spoilers reveal that fans know that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has bipolar disorder just like his portrayer.

Of course, Sonny was diagnosed back in the early 2000s when Sonny and Emily Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston) were very close Maurice, as many fans know is a huge advocate for mental health as well.

General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Stays Connected With Fans

Fans have seen for years that Maurice is very good about staying engaged with fans on social media. Fans can also be very critical of the scenes that play out on the show.

On the 3/29/24 episode, Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) discussed how Valentin was manipulating Sonny by messing with his meds.

Valentin believes that by switching Sonny’s medication, he will commit a crime and get put away. If that happens, Valentin believes he can run whatever he wants through Sonny’s territory with no interference.

General Hospital needs to stop bloating the cast
Maurice Benard
General Hospital has lost its way, and adding cast members with little to no significance to the current cast has been par for the course.

The cast is so bloated, yet many longtime fan favorites have been on the back burner for so long that what was simmering is probably stuck to the pot.

Over the years, the show has morphed from the hospital drama to being more focused on the mob scene, run by none other than Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Whether viewers want to admit it or not, he has become the face of the show. He is on nearly every day and often is the center of focus for several big storylines on the daytime drama.

However, some of us remember the days of great storylines that happened at the hospital. The nursing staff has dwindled, and the doctors are few and far between these days.

There’s just no escaping Helena Cassadine, the villainous “General Hospital” matriarch who has wreaked havoc in Port Charles for decades. Our sister site TVLine has now reported that actress Constance Towers is on her way back to the show for a big reveal in a major storyline.

TVLine’s scoop indicates that Helena will show up in a flashback to the time cult leader Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) and Drew (Billy Miller) spent in Afghanistan. But no word yet on who is having the flashback, what exactly is being learned, and who the information is being revealed to. We’ll find out when Towers’s appearance airs on Monday, August 19.

Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider in Last Tango in Paris (1972)
What ‘Last Tango in Paris’ Did Wrong, and ‘General Hospital’ Did Right (Commentary)
Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider in Last Tango in Paris (1972)
Bernardo Bertolucci’s inspired an outcry with his admission that he didn’t warn actress Maria Schneider about every aspect of a “Last Tango in Paris” rape scene because he wanted a shocked reaction. In this Hollyblog, Emmy-winning actress Natalia Livingston describes to TheWrap’s Rosemary Rossi how her “General Hospital” colleagues handled a 2006 rape scene responsibly and respectfully. They included her boyfriend at the time, Tyler Christopher, who played her attacker. It’s not Ok what happened on “Last Tango in Paris.” You want to be considerate of each other and thoughtful and mindful. It’s the director’s...

Tropical Storm Emily Joins Tempestuous Emily Club with Stewart, Quartermaine, Bishop, McLaughlin & O'Brien
Just like tropical storms and hurricanes, famous soap opera women named Emily tend to be unpredictable and even dangerous--and fun to follow!

Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms have been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center. The original name-lists featured only women's names, but in 1979, men's names were introduced. Of course, in the soap opera world, the best dramatic, tempestuous and unpredictable characters are almost always women.

In honor of Emily the Tropical Storm, here are our five favorite soap opera women named Emily (characters and actors).

1. Emily Stewart

Emily Stewart is a woman with many talents, including being a newspaper mogul and high class prostitute. Played (over the years) by Janine Sagan, Pat Reynolds, Jenny Harris, Marissa Morel, Colleen McDermott, Melanie Smith and Kelley Menighan Hensley, she churned up As The World Turns from April 1972 to September 2010, and made a brief appearance on The Young And The Restless in March 2007. Over the years,...

Amy Locane-Bovenizer Car Crash: Melrose Place Actress Giggled After Fatal Crash

A police officer says an actress who had appeared in the original Melrose Place was giggling and laughing after a motor vehicle crash that killed a New Jersey woman. The officer says Amy Locane-Bovenizer said police and emergency personnel were "being overly dramatic."

The Courier News of Bridgewater reports Montgomery Police Officer William Wilkes testified Monday during a hearing to determine whether statements the actress made to police after the June 2010 crash will be admissible at her trial.

Locane-Bovenizer is charged with aggravated manslaughter stemming from the death of 60-year-old Helene Seeman.

Days of Our Lives (1965)
Soap News: Braun In, Livingston Out on 'Days' ... and More
Days of Our Lives (1965)

There's been an unusual and unexpected casting switch on 'Days of Our Lives,' with Emmy-award winning actress Natalia Livingston being replaced by Tamara Braun.

What's strange is that Livingston was let go because the writers changed the character of Taylor Walker, and Natalia's not the right actress for the part anymore. Braun, who has excelled in bad girl roles, apparently is. Braun's first airdate will be in April.

'Days' co-executive producer Gary Tomlin talked to Soap Opera Digest about the change, saying, "It was decided to take the character ... in a new direction. Natalia Livingston is an amazing actress and a consummate professional. She is a class act and everyone at the studio adores her."

Braun, like Livingston, is an award-winner. In fact, Braun won the Daytime Emmy as Ava Vitali on 'Days' in 2009. Presumably, fans won't mind that...

Shocking Replacement At Days
According to Soap Opera Digest, Days has replaced Natalia Livingston's character of Taylor Walker with her former General Hospital castmate, Tamara Braun.  This comes as quite a surprise, especially given that the show proudly publicized the hiring of Livingston several months ago.

Several weeks ago, Taylor Walker returned to Salem after an eleven year absence.  As played by Livingston, she has been sweet, kind, down-on-her-luck, and suddenly in love with E.J. Dimera.  One can only speculate the reasons for this change.  But based on Braun's Emmy winning run as Ava on Days back in 2008, we can expect that Taylor will be more edgy, tough, and a force to be reckoned with that can rival Nicole and Sami.

What do you think of this move? Was it wise to replace Livingston so quickly? Will it be strange to see Braun back in Salem as a different character (along with...

'General Hospital' sneak peek: Chad Brannon's guest spot
Chad Brannon
It's always nice to see old flames together, like in this shot from Chad Brannon's Dec. 22 return to General Hospital sitting next to his former onscreen love, Natalia Livingston (Emily/Rebecca). In his one-off appearance, Brannon's not playing Zander, Emily's great love before Nicholas and also Elizabeth's baby's daddy, but rather an airplane passenger who has a conversation with Rebecca as she leaves Port Charles This trip down memory lane comes on the heels of Jonathan Jackson's October return to the role he originated, Lucky Spencer. Does seeing the old lovebirds together make anyone nostalgic for a simpler time on Gh?...

General Hospital Casting News: Natalia Livingston Out, Marsha Thomason In
Lots of major casting news has been going on at General Hospital. Jonathan Jackson returned to the show yesterday afternoon.

Today, there are two major announcements:

Natalia Livingston is leaving. No word yet on when Rebecca will bid farewell to Port Charles, but the actress is departing the show for good. Marsha Thomason has been cast as a "mystery woman." The character will be involved in some way in James Franco's storyline, according to Soap Opera Digest. Thomason, pictured, appeared in the pilot episode of USA's White Collar.

Said a General Hospital spokesperson, of Livingston:

"We were thrilled that we were able to get Natalia back for a second run, after her Emmy winning turn as Emily Quartermaine. The character of Rebecca Shaw will soon depart the canvas and Natalia has decided to pursue other projects. A beloved member of the Gh family, the entire cast and crew wish...
