Upcoming high school horror “Lice” — about a parasitic invasion of lice that hits Long Island — has added a couple of names to its cast.

Emilie Bierre and rising star Joelle Farrow have joined Emile Hirsch, Justin Long and Kevin Connolly in the feature, described as a horror mashup of “The Breakfast Club” and “Lord of the Flies” and first announced by Variety in Cannes.

“Lice,” which recently wrapped production in Canada, marks the first feature from Connolly’s ActionPark Productions alongside partner Patrick Marino, and is billed as a “gruesome throwback to ‘80s high school classics.”

Highland Film Group is repping international rights, having launched sales at the Marché du Film.

Director/cinematographer Jonathan Bensimon makes his feature directorial debut with a script written by Anthony Musella and Shaun Harris (“The Hemingway Thief”), from an original concept by Connolly. The film is produced by Connolly, Jeremy Alter, and Gary Goldman,...

The Up and Comer delves into the seemingly perfect life of Philip Randall (Nate Mann), a brilliant attorney poised to become the youngest partner at his prestigious firm. Philip’s idyllic world begins to unravel when a former prep-school classmate (Andrew Burnap) threatens to reveal a devastating secret involving another woman (Shay Mitchell). Deadline has unveiled that Chris Long, whose credits include the FX drama series, The Americans, will be helming the adaptation of The Up and Comer. It has also been announced that Nate Mann of Masters of the Air, Shay Mitchell, from Pretty Little Liars, and Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap, known for The Inheritance, have all signed on to star in the thriller.

The synopsis, per Deadline, reads,

‘Call Jane,’ Abortion Rights Drama Starring Elizabeth Banks, Acquired by Roadside Attractions
Sigourney Weaver and Elizabeth Banks in Call Jane (2022)
Roadside Attractions has scooped up the U.S. rights to “Call Jane,” the period piece abortion drama that stars Elizabeth Banks and made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

Phyllis Nagy (“Carol”) directed the film that also stars Sigourney Weaver. Roadside is planning a theatrical release for the film this fall.

“Call Jane” is set in Chicago in 1968 and follows a suburban housewife named Joy who has a life-threatening heart condition as a result of her pregnancy and finds an all-male medical establishment is unwilling to assist in her abortion. Her journey for a solution leads her to two women who are committed to women’s health and have the dream of giving all women access to abortions, and together they form an underground abortion service for women that puts every aspect of her own life on the line.

When Joy’s pregnancy leads to a life-threatening heart condition, she must navigate an all-male medical establishment unwilling to terminate her pregnancy in order to save her life.
