For several years now, Film Independent’s Fiscal Sponsorship program has supported a wide variety of projects: shorts, features, both narrative and nonfiction. Not to mention the occasional new media project, special event or advocacy initiative. Each month’s Fiscal Spotlight column announces three new projects taking part in the program.

But maybe you’re curious how some of those prior subjects have turned out. Well hey, you’re in luck! Once again it’s time for another FiSpo Update highlighting the recent achievements of previous Fiscal Spotlight subjects.

Film Independent’s Fiscal Sponsorship program opens the door to nonprofit funding for independent filmmakers and media artists. The projects and makers participating in the program express a uniqueness of vision, celebrate diversity and advance the craft of filmmaking through the creation of these special works. Media talent discovery app Husslup has joined with Fuse Media, Keshet Studios and Roadmap Writers to expand its search initiatives in identifying the next generation of film and TV talent.

The Husslup app, currently in its beta stage, also revealed the winners of its “Roadmap Writers X Husslup” pitch competition: Writers Sarah Mack and Josh Price landed the prize, a chance to pitch their completed script, “Shrink Retreat,” to Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman.

“Shrink Retreat” is about “a burned-out young therapist tries to rekindle her passion for helping others at a secret retreat for psychologists at what turns out to be a wacky summer camp.”

The winner was chosen from a group of five finalists that also included Eric Rudnick (“Hold You so Tight”), Gabriel Malasig (“American Retail”), Jacobo Fe (“Halsted: Between Pleasure and Pain”) and Gina DeAngeles (“The Knocking at the Marsh”).

Exclusive: Eric Rudnick has been crowned the winner of Atx Television Festival’s annual Pitch Competition presented with Final Draft. Rudnick, who was one of 10 finalists selected to pitch live in front of industry execs, won for his pilot titled Incoming.
