Biography

Kari Layland was born in St Paul, Minnesota to Kathy and Paul Layland. She grew up in Cottage Grove, MN where she attended Park High School. In her early 20s, Kari spent time working for Occidental resorts as a stage performer/entertainer putting on improvisational comedy shows and musical numbers as a singer. She worked as a photographer for her business Kari Layland Photography, married Robert Layland and had three daughters, Alinya, Zahra and Annabelle. After a hiatus from performing to raise her family, Kari began acting in film and commercials. Her first film role was Justin Atkinson's film Bobby's Intermission, where she played Lisa, the mother of a teenage son in a coming of age comedy/drama. Inspired, Kari and her family began writing scripts and produced the short films Zombie Baby 1, 2 and 3, Suzie Meet Santa, Sleepover, and recently began filming their first feature film Hello, Again. Kari has also paired with friend and actor Anthony Hunke to direct The Roommates and the upcoming films Despondent and Dragonity.
