Has there ever been an actor more underappreciated than Kurt Russell? Sure, he's produced his fair share of stinkers throughout a career spanning more than six decades -- see 2006's "Poseidon" -- but more often than not, the man delivers. Yet, Russell had never earned an Academy Award nomination and too frequently gets treated like a glorified character actor than a genuine A-lister, despite appearing in some of the most beloved motion pictures of our time.
Perhaps Russell cemented his seclusion from Hollywood's top tier after teaming up with director John Carpenter to produce films like "Escape From New York" and "Big Trouble in Little China," films that, for all intense purposes, are essentially big-budget riffs on the classic B-movies of the 1950s and 1960s. Or maybe his rugged good looks and roguish charm weren't enough to contend with the likes of Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Tom Cruise, or Tom Hanks.

Winfield was known as “The King of Kustoms,” and his most famous creations include the iconic Galileo shuttlecraft and the Jupiter 8 for Star Trek — the latter seen in the episode “Bread and Circuses” — and the “spinners” for Blade Runner, which was nominated for the Special Effects Oscar. He also built the Catmobile for TV’s Batman and gadget cars for Get Smart! and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. during the Bond-fueled spy craze of the 1960s.

2014. After the celebratory shenanigans of 2013, this year so far has been something of a head-scratching enigma in the land of Doctor Who. Whereas 2013's Psychic Paper showed up a balloon-doffing, missing episode recovering party animal, 2014's Psychic Paper draws a blank. The endless Missing Episode Omnishambles trudges wearily on, a bleary, pointless mess of internal politics, bickering and question dodging worthy of Chancellor Goth. Brand new episodes mysteriously leak online, prompting the question as to how it was so easy to shove them into the public domain in the first place. Even The Underwater Menace DVD has seemingly sunk without trace – look at that, I'm pining for The Underwater Menace, so obviously these are murky times.
Not even a brand new Doctor Who series can put paid to this unsure fog. Deep Breath is the first bid for new Doctor Peter Capaldi, who may be the 12th Doctor. Or the 13th.

Vocal coach David Grant has criticised The X Factor and controversial contestant Rylan Clark. The former Fame Academy coach told Sky News that Clark is "unbelievably fame-hungry". "You have had in the many years of X Factor many people desperate for success. But this is the first person I have ever seen that would dress up and cross the street to be at the opening of an envelope," he said. "Rylan is the man who has had the greatest songwriter of our generation told he is deaf by someone who manages Jedward. Every time you think X Factor is a talent show, something like this happens to remind us that it's not." Grant added that talented contestants always leave before (more)...

A band composed of four teenage YouTubers has released an entirely-crowdsourced single. 19-year-old Charlie McDonnell joined forces with three other teenage YouTube users to take part in a BBC Switch project named 'ChartJackers', in which they are attempting to break in to the UK chart in an unorthodox style; they have no budget, no experience and have to crowdsource everything - musicians, producers and promotion. The song, I've got nothing, was a combined effort, with a number of users coming up with the lyrics. The group even managed to get help and advice from Fame Academy vocal coaches Carrie and David Grant. Last week, the Chartjackers launched a two-pronged social media attack on UK Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills. They encouraged Twitter users to send him Tweets and emails about their song in a bid to have it played on air. You can...
