Fear FactoryThe Industrialist || Review
Industrial metal band Fear Factory is back with another release, The Industrialist. Much like their previous album, Mechanize, The Industrialist takes the band's music and futuristic story telling to the next level. The new album features a story much like their 1999 concept album Obsolete. The futuristic science fiction story, which is presented in the CD booklet, follows the main character, known as "The Industrialist." The music for The Industrialist is brilliant and brutal, which is more or less what you expect from Fear Factory. There was once again a line up change for the band's newest release and the only members involved with this outing are vocalist Burton C. Bell and Dino Cazares on guitars. The drum and bass tracks are programed and arranged. Despite lacking musicians, the album does not lack any of its Fear Factory potency.

Fear Factory: 'The Industrialist' – CD Review
Burton C. Bell, Fear Factory, and Matt Devries
Industrial metallers Fear Factory have been dealing in futuristic sonic destruction on and off for two decades now, but their career spiked again in 2009 with the return of masterful guitarist Dino Cazares to the fold. The subsequent album Mechanize marked a new burst of creative energy for the team led by founder/frontman Burton C. Bell, inviting positive comparisons to their much-hailed 1995 release Demanufacture. For the inevitable follow-up, the band set their sights even higher, choosing to write a concept record (their first since 1998's Obsolete) that plays out like an industrial rock opera set in a horrific future – augmenting the band's signature deep, dark & furious mechanized metal rhythms with spooky...

Fear Factory Narrowly Escaped Tour Bus Fire
The members of rock act Fear Factory escaped unscathed after a freak fire engulfed their tourbus in the early hours of Thursday morning, August 5. The group was traveling to London after a show in Sheffield, north England when their driver spotted smoke coming from beneath the bus and pulled over on the M1 motorway to investigate.

He then noticed fire and alerted the band and crew to evacuate the bus - but guitarist Dino Cazares reveals not everyone heeded the warnings. A statement from the rocker readers, "Everyone grabbed there (sic) bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going, 'Thank god we all made it out' until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus, so our good friend ran back on the smoke-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames."

The band...

Fear Factory Get 'Mechanized'
Burton C. Bell, Fear Factory, and Matt Devries
According to Candlelight Records, industrial metallers Fear Factory will be rolling out their seventh studio album Mechanized early next year. If the first single Powershifter is any indication, this release sounds like a return to the band's groundbreaking roots. Flip to the other side and find out more about their apocalyptic new creation... Mechanized also represents the reunion of frontman Burton C. Bell with the original guitarist Dino Cazares – after parting ways nearly six years ago – and also marks the return of Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly) on keys. They're joined by bassist Byron Stroud and the masterful Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad) at the drumkit. Bell describes the product of...

Woh Chicago: Horror Rock Panel
The Monsters of Rock panel hosted by Fango's Scott Licina and James Zahn featured members of Fashion Bomb and Mushroomhead, as well as David Greathouse, who directed two recent videos for the band, in addition to designing their costumes, makeup, and props. This small army took the stage to answer questions.

Licina kicked it off with an absolutely fantastic music video from Mushroomhead (see it below) and then proceeded to hype up the crowd for that nights show. He didn’t have to do much. This was a group of people ready to rock and ready to ask lots of questions. When asked about the experience of working on Robert Kurtzman's The Rage, the members of Mh were enthusiastic in the extreme. When asked about their new, as-of-yet-untitled album, they took that enthusiasm and ran with it. But even in the midst of their joking around, the band refused to give away anything.

Exclusive: Talking horror and Cults with Static-x
For the past fifteen years, Static-x has been delivering their crushing brand of industrial metal (self-dubbed "evil disco") to the masses. On March 17th, the band will release Cult Of Static, their sixth studio album, coming on the eve of the tenth anniversary of their platinum-selling debut, Wisconsin Death Trip.  Last night, Fango caught up with bassist Tony Campos, who along with frontman Wayne Static, has been in the band since the beginning. What followed was a conversation about the band, their new album, and their long-running connections to the horror genre.

James Zahn: So you've got Cult Of Static being released almost 10 years to the date that Wisconsin Death Trip (released March 23, 1999) came out. How do you feel Static-x has evolved over the course of the past decade?

Tony Campos: It's weird, ya know? We did some experimenting on the third and fourth albums, and then went...

Roadrunner United: The Concert (Music DVD Review)
“You can’t consider yourself a hardcore kid or a metalhead without owning a Roadrunner album.” - Jamey Jasta, Hatebreed.

In 2004, Cees Wessels, founder and owner of Roadrunner Records, approached longtime A&R chief Monte Conner about creating a project and event to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the label. Roadrunner had humble beginnings, launching in 1980 under the name Roadracer, as an Amsterdam-based importer of U.S. metal albums to be repackaged for a European audience. Over the course of the two and a half decades that would follow, Roadrunner would evolve into one of the most respected outlets for metal and hard rock on a Global scale.

After launching the careers of bands such as Sepultura, Deicide, Slipknot, Mercyful Fate, Obituary, and Fear Factory, horror fans would soon feel the direct effect of the label. Long providing tracks for numerous films over the years, Roadrunner entered the Soundtrack realm...
