The Shudder streaming series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs is currently deep into its seventh season – and now, for the first time, the show is set to receive a physical media release! Fans recently started noticing listings for The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs Blu-rays and DVDs showing up on sites like Amazon and Target – but there wasn’t accurate artwork, so it was a mystery what this 4 hour and 55 minute release would be. Now, the proper artwork has been unveiled, revealing that this is a double feature of the Joe Lynch-directed films Suitable Flesh and Mayhem! This double feature is set to be released on October 14th… and it appears to be limited quantity, because Amazon is currently sold out of the Blu-ray edition. Hopefully they’ll be restocking soon.

He's mean, he's green, and in just under two months, he's coming to the big screen. Nearly two years since it made its debut as the opening film of Fantastic Fest, Macon Blair's hotly anticipated The Toxic Avenger remake starring Game of Thrones favorite Peter Dinklage is finally almost here, and a new Red Band trailer is celebrating the blood and guts the mop-wielding hero is about to spill. The gory superhero horror comedy based on the 1984 Troma film by Lloyd Kaufman faced an uphill battle to find a distributor because of its over-the-top graphic content, but it's that same level of violence and adherence to the ideas that made the original a cult classic that drew Cineverse to it in the first place. This new look relishes the viscera viewers will soon see in theaters while also teasing the surprisingly heartfelt story of the perpetually unfortunate Winston Gooze.

In 2010, Sang-yeop Yeun, an actor who went professionally as Steven, booked a role on "The Walking Dead," a zombie horror television show based on a long-running comic book series. While this wasn't his first professional credit -- you may have forgotten his cameo on "The Big Bang Theory" -- it was his breakout role, immediately endearing the performer to a wide audience and opening the doors on his career.
Since then, Yeun has played a rich and varied slate of roles in a wide variety of genres and tones while simultaneously seeming like a kind-hearted, self-effacing, and easily funny hang, thanks to a series of viral appearances with Conan O'Brien and a post-fame uncovered Second City sketch. He strikes one as an unpretentious actor who can do it all, and his body of work supports this thesis with aplomb.

Peter Dinklage has a pounding headache, and his only hope of getting the help he needs is to appeal to the big boss — Kevin Bacon. A chaotic new teaser for Macon Blair's upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger was just released by Nerdist and introduces the Footloose star's soulless CEO, Bob Garbinger, who has precisely no care for his longtime employee, Winston Gooze. The new spin on the gory Lloyd Kaufman Troma classic follows the down-on-his-luck janitor as he discovers he has a terminal illness and hatches a scheme to rob the company he works for to pay for the treatment and provide for his son. However, his plan also eventually leads to the accident that turns him into the violent, superpowered, mop-wielding vigilante, and the new footage teases how his diagnosis sends him down that path.

A hero is coming to clean up our streets this summer, and it's not Superman. The grimy world of Troma Entertainment will be back on the big screen with The Toxic Avenger, the much-anticipated remake of Lloyd Kaufman's comedy horror cult classic, written and directed by Macon Blair. In place of Mitch Cohen/Mark Torgl as the titular Toxie, Game of Thrones Emmy winner Peter Dinklagehas stepped in to wield the mop and see if the bad guys "have any guts," playing a more sympathetic version of the iconic character who's going through hard times. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event for the upcoming slate of movies this year, we can offer an exclusive new image of the former Lannister transformed into a radioactive savior of the downtrodden.

There's a school of screenwriting thought that holds you should always know your ending. If you know where you're headed narratively, you should be spared a lot of guesswork and time spent wandering in the forest looking for a way out. That's the rationale, at least.
Many times, however, you discover over the course of your writing that your characters want different things than you expected, which throws your perfect ending into doubt. Suddenly, you realize your story would be way more interesting and dramatically satisfying if they either didn't succeed or succeeded in a completely different manner than you'd initially planned. And sometimes it just makes more sense to leave things unresolved.
The "New Hollywood" cinema of the 1970s was famous for ambiguous endings (because everyone was bummed out by the Vietnam War and Nixon's corruption), but the triumphal finales of blockbusters like "Jaws," "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope...

A few years ago, the idea of a woman being prosecuted for having a miscarriage or stillbirth sounded like something out of a dystopian horror movie. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, this scenario has become a horrifying reality. Filmmaker Izzy Lee’s debut horror feature film, House of Ashes, cleverly utilizes the powerful combination of grief, loss of bodily autonomy, and toxic masculinity to tell a story that is contemporary and remarkably effective, led by a powerhouse performance from Fayna Sanchez.
House of Ashes was written by Izzy Lee and Steve Johanson (Meat Friend) and directed by Lee. Producers include C. Robert Cargill, Jenn Wexler, and Kyle Edward Ball (Skinamarink), and filmmaker Joe Lynch even has a cameo.
The film follows a woman named Mia (Fayna Sanchez), who is living in a nightmare she can’t wake up from. Mia and her husband Adam (Mason Conrad) run a...

A successful horror sequel should build on the set-up of the original and up the stakes to provide something new within the established world. It sounds simple enough, but often sequels can struggle to surpass the legacy of the original and just end up falling flat. That is not the case with Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, which takes a relatively standard cannibal slasher in Wrong Turn and injects even more gore, as well as crafting a much more compelling story. With Joe Lynch in the director's chair, known for Mayhem and Suitable Flesh, the sequel ended up becoming a genuinely fun slasher flick that also offers a surprisingly relevant commentary on reality TV.

Back in 1987, legendary drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs gathered a bunch of his reviews and newspaper columns and released them in a book called Joe Bob Goes to the Drive-In. I walked through the door and was greeted by a maniac with a chainsaw warning me not to lose my head. Turning the corner, I came face-to-face with two massive creatures, eyes glowing, faces looking like they’re made of chewed-up bubble gum, grins stretching wide enough that you can practically hear the corners of their mouth creaking. Or was it the mechanisms making them move? The walls around you are lined with countless images of monsters, slashers, and other nightmares. You’d typically expect what I encountered to be the start of a haunted house and not an art gallery, but that’s not the type of experience you get when you step into the twisted and vibrant world of Alex Pardee. No, in Alex’s world, the snooty expectations of strolling a gallery are ripped away in bloody, ghoulish delight because in his work, it’s all about the horror.

Barbara Crampton managed to be a horror darling in the 80s with films like Re-Animator and From Beyond. Then she had a major career resurgence in the 2010s with films like You’re Next and Jacob’s Wife. This has led to her producing and being a beloved name in the horror genre. She’s become a voice and champion of underheard creatives and is always a big cheerleader for Independent Horror. So to see Crampton’s name attached to any project is enough to build intrigue, as it carries a lot of weight. Hell, Suitable Flesh was one of last year’s best movies and this year’s Last Stop In Yuma County has a similar privilege. She knows how to pick great roles.

Corporate interests will always get in the way of artists trying to tell a good story, and that’s partly why I think comic-books are so damn magical. Even in a medium that’s mostly controlled by a handful of giant companies with strict rules about their intellectual property, you can still see miraculous bursts of creativity even in the most unabashedly cynical products.
For example, there’s the fan-favorite Venom. Think of how many people were involved in the process of turning an alternate costume for Spider-Man (the result of a contest meant to make the character appeal to a broader audience) into a monstrous supervillain, only to then re-imagine the character as a reformed hero once the marketing folks realized that he was nearly as popular as Spidey himself. No single person planned for it to turn out this way, but each artist tried to nudge the idea in a fun direction,...

Beetlejuice characters get transformed in a creepy 3D animation style. Michael Keaton's sleazy bio-exorcist, Betelgeuse, was introduced in Tim Burton's 1988 film and, 36 years later, returned in the recently-released sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Other than the return of Keaton's titular character, the sequel introduces Wednesday's Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz, the teenage daughter of Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz.

There’s nothing better than finding horror in unexpected places—like late-night Reddit threads that leave you clutching your phone, haunted by stories that might be fiction… but feel all too real. Now, Tales From The Void, a new horror anthology series premiering on Screambox Oct 13, is bringing these online nightmares to life, adapting fan-favorite tales from Reddit’s notorious NoSleep subreddit into bite-sized, scream-inducing episodes.
For those unfamiliar, r/NoSleep is a community where users post fictional horror stories, written as though they’re real-life experiences. The vibe? Think campfire ghost stories for the internet age, where the scariest part is how often you find yourself checking behind your shoulder.
But Tales From The Void isn’t just another anthology cashing in on spooky internet stories. The series, created by Francesco Loschiavo (who also served as co-showrunner with John Thomas Kelley), dives deep into the eerie possibilities of NoSleep,...

At this year’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, we were lucky enough to catch up with directors Sarah Appleton and Phillip Escott about their new horror documentary, Generation Terror, which had its world premiere at the event.
Immediately after the screening, the pair granted us the following interview about the documentary, and fans of their work will definitely be interested in hearing what they have to say. Appleton and Escott are already an established duo, as they previously co-directed another horror documentary called The Found Footage Phenomenon, which examines the found footage subgenre. While Escott individually helmed a documentary about the popular Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise called The Legacy of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Appleton individually helmed a documentary about filmmaker David Hamilton Grant called Damaged. She also previously co-directed a feature length documentary about Japanese horror called The J-Horror Virus alongside Jasper Sharp.

It's been nearly a year since The Toxic Avenger was reborn, yet general audiences still haven't had a chance to see Peter Dinklage's iteration of the trashy Troma superhero. The reboot, written and directed by Macon Blair, earned a warm reception following its debut at Fantastic Fest last September with a strong 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and plenty of positive reactions from Collider's Perri Nemiroff and John Aljets to Suitable Flesh director Joe Lynch. Promising the feel of a Troma cult classic mixed with modern sensibilities, it appeared to have something for newcomers and veteran fans of Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz's work. For anyone who's been eagerly awaiting Toxie's grand return, however, the wait might be a bit longer.

New Line is co-financing and distributing the feature, which will have Kirill Sokolov in the director’s chair when shooting gets underway in mid-September.
Zazie Beetz is toplining They Will Kill You, which is described as a horror feature laced with black humor. It tells the story of a woman (Beetz) who answers a help wanted ad to be a housekeeper in a mysterious New York City high-rise, not realizing she is entering a community that has seen a number of disappearances over the years. The project has been described as being a tonal mix of Ready or Not and The Raid.

"Candyman" was first concocted by horror maestro Clive Barker in the form of a short story called "The Forbidden." Released as part of the fifth volume of his "Books of Blood" series, the story was eventually transformed into what would become Bernard Rose's 1992 hit slasher and remains one of the best horror movies ever made. The figure of Candyman, played famously by Tony Todd, has transcended into the realm of iconic — and spawned a franchise featuring three direct sequels throughout the '90s and Nia DaCosta's criminally underrated "Candyman" from 2021. The importance and impact of the original "Candyman" cannot be overstated, and Bernard Rose's keen eye and unique grasp of presenting the horrors of an urban legend come to life has been sparking nightmares for over three decades.
