It is said that political power often grows out of the barrel of a gun. The story in this Max Isaacson movie is about the small eponymous town of Paradise, where everyone knows everyone else’s business. The sheriff, Ella’s own father, gets gunned down. The question arises: who is responsible? Could it be the same gang led by Lee Page, who previously took the lives of Ella’s mother and brother? Or perhaps there is another conspiracy going around? As we delve into the heart of Paradise, we seek to uncover the truth – Is this...

Is this your first year attending Fantastic Fest? Are you lost in a sea of options? Do you have no clue where to turn because all your friends and family are watching the latest Kardashian escapade instead of attending the most epic film festival in existence?
Don’t worry you’re safe here. For your ultimate guidebook, I’ve polled a seasoned group of experts known as The Fantastic Fest Fiends. Below are the top five things you need to know for Fantastic Fest.
#5 – Tip the Alamo staff and be nice to volunteers.
I hear if you even sniffle a rude comment to a member of the staff, Krampus will take a break from promoting his new self-titled, holiday film to come eat your soul.
But seriously, these people are working ridiculously long shifts, and slaving away to pull off an amazing festival that goes practically around the clock for two weeks straight.

Recently, his short film Sex Boss premiered at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. Additionally, he's beaten Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 for Nintendo without the aid of Game Genie or cheat codes. As we told you a couple of weeks ago, Collider is teaming up with a little something called Fun Size Horror, a collective of talented filmmakers who love the genre. It isn’t easy getting independent films off the ground, so Zeke Pinheiro figured, he knows a whole bunch of folks eager to make movies, so why not pool all their resources and make them together? That idea resulted in the completion of 31 short horror films. But even then, there’s the issue of distribution and that’s where Collider, DreadCentral, BloodyDisgusting, ShockTillYouDrop and HitFix come in. Beginning October 27th, each outlet will unveil a new Fun Size Horror short. That short will be available for 24 hours and then after that period, a new short film will take its place. Hit the jump for more on the initiative and to check out the Fun Size Horror poster as well. There...

The features that make their premiere at Fantastic Fest tend to get much of the attention, but don’t forget that you’re likely to see some great short films at the event as well. Fantastic Fest is known for their extensive short film selection and this year is no different:
“Fantastic Fest is excited to announce the short film lineup for the ninth edition of Fantastic Fest, happening September 19th- 26th in Austin, Texas at Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline. Short films provide an outlet for filmmakers to showcase their genre talents in a format with fewer restraints, making them a Fantastic Fest favorite. Fantastic Fest is wildly excited that longtime festival comrade Kier-la Janisse is now our lead shorts programmer. Kier-la created the notorious CineMuerte Film Festival in Canada, and was the first full-time film programmer for the Alamo back in the “wild west” days. She has since gone on...
