In 2013, Adult Swim unleashed a behemoth of adult animated sitcoms onto the world. "Rick and Morty" was a profane exploration of nihilism and absurdity, filtered through the guise of Rick Sanchez taking his grandson Morty on ridiculous adventures through the multiverse. Whereas other pop culture staples use the multiverse as an excuse for Easter eggs and cameos, "Rick and Morty" uses it to show just how meaningless life can be -- provided you subscribe to Rick's mindset.
There was a period where "Rick and Morty" was inescapable. A single joke caused McDonald's to bring back its "Mulan" Szechuan sauce, and fans raged when there wasn't enough. "Pickle Rick" ascended to instant meme glory. But those events were a relatively long time ago. The show may not make headlines as often as it used to, but maybe that's for the best. It's gone from a hip new upstart to a cartoon legacy show,...

Fox Entertainment Global (Feg) has hired Fifth Season’s Liz Tang to run UK content and acquisitions, less than a year after her former boss Prentiss Fraser made the jump to Feg.
In the newly-created role based in London, Tang will oversee content management for the distribution division of Fox Entertainment in the UK along with acquiring shows from producers to add to Feg’s global distribution slate. Fox runs Gordon Ramsay’s Studio Ramsay Global out of the UK and sells the indie’s Next Level Chef, Next Level Baker and Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service. Also out of the UK, Feg sells the upcoming Best Medicine, which is based on hit UK series Doc Martin, and biblical drama The Faithful.
Tang has spent the past five years at Severance studio Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor), leading a global team that acquired and financed scripted and unscripted projects for the TV distribution business.

Season 3 of Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis is just around the corner, premiering on 28th September, and it has the potential to become crazier than Rick and Morty. If you enjoy the humor style of Morty and Rick’s lives but want to see it in a different setting, Harmon’s series might be exactly what you are looking for. It follows a similar dynamic to shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons, but the series takes the concept of family sitcoms and flips it on its head.
Instead of having the traditional sitcom surrounding an odd family, it takes things a step further, creating some of the most bizarre situations one could imagine in mythical Ancient Greece. In a rare moment for television, Fox renewed the series for two more seasons as soon as the first was released, showcasing just how confident the network was in its performance. Netflix seems to have found its Coach Lasso in Nathan, a character from the upcoming adult animated series Haunted Hotel, who gives off strong Ted Lasso vibes in the recently dropped trailer on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The most striking part is perhaps that Nathan is rocking the same thick, mid-brown mustache that has become Coach Lasso’s defining feature over the years.
Not to mention the side-swept hair and the laid-back styling with the cozy sweater and simple, white collared shirt. It feels like the animators of the show ripped it straight from a Jason Sudeikis reference board.
Netflix is opening the doors to Haunted Hotel, a series that features a family with members from both the human and the supernatural worlds, in September. One of these members is the ghost named Nathan, who helps his alive sister, Katherine, run the hotel he haunts. Will Forte voices the character.

Netflix’s Haunted Hotel is not a part of Mike Flanagan’s horror-filled universe. Ever since the show has been announced, several theories have made their way on the internet. But Flanagan has no credits in the show, and his name has been brought up likely because of the haunted house title. Also, this show is not connected to any of his other projects, namely, The Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, The Midnight Club, and Usher.
This is an adult animated comedy from Rick and Morty writer Matt Roller, with Community creator Dan Harmon as executive producer. Releasing on September 19, 2025, the 10-episode series follows Katherine (Eliza Coupe), a single mother who inherits the spooky Undervale Hotel after her brother Nathan (Will Forte) dies – and returns as a ghost.
With her children and a demon trapped in the body of an 18th-century child, she faces the challenge of running a business filled with supernatural trouble.

The running joke in Community is that it’ll get six seasons and a movie.
The show fulfilled that six-season prophecy during its run on NBC from 2009 until 2015.
Fans were very excited to hear that the Community movie was officially announced in 2022, with production expected to start in 2024.
(Vivian Zink/NBC)
But over the past few years, the timeline has become increasingly delayed, and there’s only been sporadic news that creator Dan Harmon and the cast have shared.
At this point, I think it’s time to face the cold, hard truth: it might be time to accept that the Community movie is never happening.

In Season Seven of Rick and Morty, Rick Sanchez finally got what he wanted — or what he thought he wanted — when he murdered his wife’s killer, Rick Prime. The story of Rick (our Rick) seeking revenge against Rick Prime began before the events of Season One, Episode One and lasted for seven seasons. So, heading into this year’s Season Eight, many fans wondered exactly what Rick was wondering: What now?
While still having plenty of connective tissue to Rick and Morty’s grand mythos, Season Eight didn’t have the big, canon-heavy episodes that usually pop up a few times a season. Instead, it seemed to have more of a theme than an arc, with Rick figuring out who he is without revenge to motivate him and maybe even allowing himself to move on from his dead wife and explore a new relationship. It’s what showrunner Scott Marder...

At the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, attendees heard a surprise announcement during the Rick and Morty panel: The insult-spewing, turkey-transforming commander-in-chief from the show is getting his own spin-off on Adult Swim.
Called Presidential Curtis, the series will follow the commander-in-chief and his staff as they “tackle the kind of crises that Rick Sanchez could never be bothered with — from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and unexplained phenomena.” The show will also be executive produced by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano and will feature Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash in yet-to-be-named supporting roles.
The series lead, of course, will be golden-voiced actor Keith David, who has played President Curtis since his first appearance in Season Two of Rick and Morty. He joined me earlier today for an exclusive interview to talk about the new show and whether or not...

As we may have mentioned once or twice in the past, working on Community wasn’t always the easiest job, thanks in large part to Caddyshack star/toilet fortune heir Chevy Chase.
The former Saturday Night Live cast member famously antagonized his co-stars, lobbing racist insults at Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover — sometimes involving the N-word — and straight-up physically fighting Joel McHale. Meaning that the only way Chase’s going to be in the Community movie is if a fan edits him in using clips from old National Lampoon movies.
Also contentious was the relationship between Chase and creator Dan Harmon, who isn't exactly known for being the chillest personality to deal with either. Famously, Harmon “publicly reprimanded Chase in front of his family and colleagues” during a wrap party, allowing frustrated crew members to collectively, cathartically shout, “Fuck you, Chevy!”
This prompted Chase to leave Harmon an expletive-filled voicemail,...

Rick and Mortyco-creator Dan Harmon has offered an update on the series ahead of the series' Season 8 finale. He also shared some of his favorite moments from the show.
"I'm really bad at keeping track these days because we're so on schedule that we're ahead of schedule," Harmon told The Hollywood Reporter when the question came up during San Diego Comic-Con 2025. "I was told last night that at Comic-Con, we will be doing a table read of the two Beths episode [Season 8, Episode 6, "The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button"]. My response was very sincerely, 'Maybe I should punch that script up.' And [executive producer] Steve Levy said, 'It already aired on television.' I've become my own Chevy Chase now."
Harmon also hinted at the future of Rick and Morty. Recording of voice work for Season 9 is already underway with writing for some episodes of Season 10 complete. "Definitely very new, very alien," he said about being ahead of schedule.

FandomWire’s Rick and Morty Season 8 review defines the season as full of “wacky adventures”. Wacky and emotionally sound, this installment saw Rick mending his relationship with his daughter Beth. However, in Episode 10, titled “Hot Rick”, which was released on July 27, 2025, we witness Memory Rick trying to fulfill his agenda of reviving Beth’s mother, Diane.
Memory Rick infiltrates Jerry and Beth’s minds and reshapes their memories of Rick by presenting himself as an ideal father. This essentially fills Beth’s emotional void.
This move comes as one of the most selfish plotlines featured in 8 seasons of the show. So much so that it makes even Evil Morty look good, despite his many flaws. For context: Rick had discarded his last memory of Diane, so he could move on with BugAnne (via Bleeding Cool). This alarmed Memory Rick, who did not want to let go of ‘his’ wife, Diane.

It's not so surprising anymore when a successful adult animated series ends up with a spin-off or two. Whether it was The Cleveland Show, which spun off from Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force from Space Ghost Coast to Coast, or Human Resources from Big Mouth, there are usually popular characters that warrant their own stories. However, Rick & Morty has decided to go in a surprising direction with its new spin-off, centering the show around an unexpected character: President Curits. The announcement came along with a surprise appearance from returning actor Keith David at San Diego Comic-Con, to help generate excitement for the upcoming show.
Adult Swim announced on Friday that they had green-lit the project, titled President Curtis, a Rick & Morty Spinoff Show, with Keith David in the starring role. To celebrate the announcement, David surprised fans with a special appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. The television network also...

As revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, an actor from Rick & Mortyseason 2 is returning for the upcoming spinoff in a new role. The long-running animated sci-fi comedy is going strong, having debuted Rick & Morty season 8 in May. But alongside the adventures of the titular duo, the franchise recently confirmed a new spinoff.

The Rick and Morty Season Eight finale, “Hot Rick,” capped off a year of spectacular guest stars by bringing in a core Lord of the Rings cast member to play… Rick’s sort-of-girlfriend’s dad?

Securing a recurring role on a TV series can be a dream come true for a lot of actors. So often, the Hollywood life consists of going from one audition to the next, taking time out of your day when you could make money elsewhere, hoping that something will stick. Even if you land a commercial gig, the job may only last for a few days or maybe a week until you have to get back at it again. But a TV role offers security and the knowledge your face will really get out there and make it easier landing jobs in the future.
Of course, sometimes the dream of being a TV fixture turns into a nightmare. Whether it's being uncomfortable with a show's material or not getting along with co-workers, these actors ended up hating their most popular shows.

After six seasons and movie, two Community characters might finally seal the deal if Alison Brie has her way.
The 2x Golden Globe nominee recently revealed her hopes for her character Annie Edison in the long-awaited feature adaptation of the NBC/Yahoo series, while sharing an update on the production schedule.
“There’s no update,” she told husband and Together co-star Dave Franco in a sit-down for Entertainment Tonight. “I would say it’s paused due to a number of factors. The entire cast is still enthusiastically on board to do the movie.”
Brie added, “Something I would love to see for Annie is full sex with Jeff Winger. You know, I think an X-rated Community movie would consummate that ‘will they, won’t they.'”

If Rick’s battles with the President are your favorite part of “Rick and Morty,” you’re in for a treat. Adult Swim is moving forward with “President Curtis,” a new show set in the original show’s universe that will see Keith David reprise his role as the titular world leader. The announcement was made during Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con.
President Curtis has long been a beloved recurring character on “Rick and Morty.” A sarcastic man who both hates and begrudgingly respects Rick, he often battles and competes with the smartest man in the galaxy, using the U.S. government’s arsenal of top-secret inventions and military secrets. “President Curtis” will follow the Commander-in-Chief and his eccentric staff as they handle all the crises that Rick thinks are beneath him, a long list that includes everything from interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations.

It’s been over a decade since Community first graced our screens, and honestly, we’re still not over it. Dan Harmon‘s meta-textual masterpiece about a ragtag study group at Greendale Community College didn’t just break the fourth wall; it completely demolished it, creating something that was equal parts sitcom, cultural commentary, and love letter to everything we geek out about.
While streaming platforms keep introducing new fans to Jeff Winger’s crew, those of us who lived through the original run can’t help but get nostalgic for what made this show absolutely magical.

Let’s be real, nothing could have prepared us for “Modern Warfare.” One minute we’re watching a typical community college sitcom, and the next we’re in the middle of a full-blown action movie parody that somehow managed to have genuine emotional stakes.

Actor Alison Brie, who rose to fame playing Annie Edison on the groundbreaking sitcom Community, provided a long-awaited but disappointing update about Community: The Movie. Die-hard fans of the series have waited years for the members of Greendale Community College's wacky study group to reassemble for a sequel film and to deliver on the promise based on the show's iconic catchphrase, "six seasons and a movie."

Joel McHale chalks up the hilarity of Community to the relentlessness of creator Dan Harmon and directors Joe and Anthony Russo. “I’m so fortunate that that was the spearhead that was fighting for this comedy,” McHale recently told Collider. “I look at comedy now, or when I do it now, I remember Joe and Anthony would always go, ‘Cut. Do it faster. Cut. Do it faster. Cut. Do it faster.’”
“There were so many good jokes,” McHale said. “There were so many jokes flying that it was great, because it taught me to throw away jokes. ‘Don’t be too married to a joke or two.’ But it taught me to say them and say them fast.”
The dark side of the “million takes” that Community’s creators demanded? It made for awfully long work days, and not everyone was thrilled about the extra time commitment. “The hours were bananas,...

The cult classic comedy show Communitygave a lot to fans. We had Troy and Abed in the Morning, that Glee-inspired episode, and Donald Glover crying over LeVar Burton. And that's just to name a few of the show's iconic moments. One less cheery aspect of the series, however, was Chevy Chase being a little too much like the curmudgeonly character he was playing and causing trouble behind the scenes. Chase, who had a reputation for being difficult on set, left the show in Season 4. Do you want to hear about the Gear Wars?
Of course not, nobody does. Yet Rick’s most boring friend on Rick and Morty can’t help but talk about them. Whereas Rick’s stoic pal Birdperson is always ready for an adventure and Mr. Poopybutthole’s trainwreck of a life never ceases to be interesting, Gearhead’s presence is usually a drag, and that’s precisely what the Rick and Morty fanbase loves about him.
Nonetheless, I recently caught up with his voice actor, Scott Chernoff, to talk about all things Gearhead — yes, even the Gear Wars. Despite Gearhead’s reputation, I promise that our conversation was far from boring.
How did you end up playing Gearhead?
I worked a lot with Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland in the past. They met at Channel 101, this video festival that we all used to do, and we just started working together.

As characters, Rick and Morty are total opposites. Rick is a super genius who often appears responsible for the fate of the universe, while his grandson Morty is a largely expendable moron. However, there is a distinct similarity in the kind of women they’re into — or at least how those women sound.

“Continuing our long tradition of being on the green at Sdcc, last year we introduced a pirate ship motif because we’ve always viewed ourselves as media pirates,” said Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen. “We’ve also always used cats in our iconography… so this year, it’s cats and pirates. Expect owls next year.”

Hulu is all set to stream the classic sitcom Community. With an IMDb rating of 8.5 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, the show deserved a better fate, and you can’t fight me on this. Given the kind of viewer and critical acclaim the show had earned, it was surprising to see that it ended only after six seasons, surreally, a joke on the show itself.
Thanks to the recent acquisition of the show by Hulu, all six seasons will now be streaming on the platform, offering a new binge-worthy watch for viewers. Who knows, it could even spark a revival dream!
Why Were There 6 Seasons and A Movie Rumors About Community?
Right from its debut in the year 2009, Community stood out for its innovative style of storytelling. They had meta-narratives, a single camera set-up, pop-culture humour, and movie parodies, everything fresh and new back in the day.

The most recent episode of Rick and Morty featured appearances from none other than Zack Snyder and James Gunn, with both filmmakers lending their voices to… themselves.
“They were good sports,“ Rick and Morty executive producer Scott Marder told Variety. “Both of those guys sort of implied that this is the show they watch when they have downtime. So they were thrilled to get to be a part of the world, and there was no pushback or bristling. If anything, they laughed at anything we threw at them. There were probably, frankly, even more digs and more silly things we could have used. All they did was laugh it off.“
The episode, Ricker Than Fiction, follows Rick and Morty as they express their displeasure with the creative direction of the Maximum Velocitree movie franchise. They head to the Warner Bros. lot and confront James Gunn. A later scene finds Snyder...
