Exclusive: Two-time Canadian Olympic medallist Elvis Stojko is to guest star in CBC’s comedy One More Time.
We’ve got a first look at the popular figure skater, who will appear in the seventh episode of the Counterfeit Pictures series. The ep, titled ‘Lazer Blade,’ will air on Tuesday February 20 and also on streamer CBC Gem.
Stojko will play himself opposite star D.J. Demers (The Tonight Show) in the workplace comedy, in which hard-of-hearing second-hand sporting goods store manager Demers leads a team of ‘enthusiastic’ employees.
The figure skater won back-to-back Olympic silver medals at Lillehammer in 1994 and Nagano 1998 along with three world titles and seven national titles. He was inducted to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2011.

Production is underway in Toronto on comedy series “One More Time,” from stand-up comedian D.J. Demers and showrunner Jessie Gabe (“Workin’ Moms”), and a cast has been revealed.
The 13 x 30′ series is a workplace comedy about D.J. (Demers), the hard-of-hearing manager of a second-hand sporting goods store, and the team of “enthusiastic” employees he leads. D.J.’s optimistic, community-oriented outlook on life is challenged at every turn, as he and his team struggle to keep the small independent shop alive.
Joining Demers in the cast are actor and comedian Geri Hall (“Astrid and Lilly Save the World”), Daniel Beirne (“Fargo”), Elise Bauman (“Workin’ Moms”), emerging actor Seran Sathiyaseelan and Dayton Sinkia (“Letterkenny”).

Exclusive: Shelved producer Counterfeit Pictures has hired long-serving Just For Laughs comedy expert Zoe Rabnett.
She takes on the post of Director of Talent and Comedy Development, effective immediately, at the Toronto-based producer.
Rabnett recently exited her post as Just For Laughs’ Director of Canadian and International Programming, having spent 14 years at the Montreal-based comedy house.
Well-known on the Canadian comedy circuit, Rabnett also worked at Diamondfield Entertainment, where she produced and booked the Rivoli’s famed caberet-style ALTdot COMedy Lounge show for 10 years.
While at Just For Laughs, she was responsible for finding and booking comedy talent from Canada and around the world for the festival, as well as for the organization’s tours and TV specials. In that capacity, she first collaborated with Counterfeit, acting as a producer on co-productions such as CTV Comedy programs Roast Battle Canada and The Stand Up Show and several stand-up specials for Crave.

YouTube has given a pilot order to drama Dark Cargo, from Entertainment One and Canada’s Counterfeit Pictures and SEVEN24 Films. The project, which will be in consideration for YouTube Premium, is written by Adam and Max Reid (Sneaky Pete) and will be executive produced by Ben Stiller and Nicky Weinstock via their Red Hour Productions banner. eOne serves as the studio.
Dark Cargo is described as a high-octane, cliffhanger-driven, neo-noir thriller set in the big rig cab of Joe Dobbs as he traverses the darkest nights of his life. What begins as a random encounter with a disturbed stranger turns into a race against time, the police, and even more malevolent forces. All the while, Joe just wants to get back to his family.
