Stephán O'Shea

IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Stephán O'Shea is a Haitian-American actor, producer, screenwriter, and director. He grew up as the only boy among three sisters in Pasadena, California. From 1995 to 2001, he worked as a child actor in several commercials (Kraft, McDonalds, Oscar Meyer), television series (Seinfeld, Beverly hills 90210, Bay Watch), and movies (Enemy of the State, The Kid, Dude Where's My Car). See resume for more.

When the millennium arrived, his parents shifted gears and focused him to complete his high school diploma and, soon after, his bachelor's degree in Drama with an emphasis in performance from San Francisco State University (SFSU). Despite taking a long break from the film industry, Stephán continued to pursue his creative interests through theater, where he was cast in high school musicals as characters Moonface Martin in Anything Goes (2007) and Schroeder in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (2008).

During his college years, he put his multi-talented abilities to the test by producing the first all-black leading cast musical at SFSU, "That Jones Gal," an adaptation of the musical film "Carmen Jones." This was his directorial and composing debut, and it led to roles for students of color in future stage plays produced by the University.

Stephán returned to the film industry after graduating with his B.A in 2013, but it was not as easy as it seemed in the 1990s. He had to start from scratch, but in the meantime, he began fulfilling a discovered purpose as an educator by assisting first-generation and low-income students in getting into college through a program called TRIO Upward Bound. His high school advisor encouraged him to return as an alum and help students like him get into college. This became a goal he was so passionate about that he earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University to help pay the bills while continuing to write and produce his own work. Preference (2020), a web series he co-wrote, directed, and starred in, debuted during the pandemic, when everyone was quarantined at home and glued to their screens. Stephán decided to begin writing season 2 immediately after the 5-part series received a lot of attention and feedback. Recently, he was asked to co-create and write on other projects that are being pitched to various productions and networks. In addition, he will appear in a horror film written and directed by Shihan Van Clief, in which Rosario Dawson and Dante Basco will make cameo appearances.
