Biography

Avignan Bhattacharya (born 8th December, 1992) is a Bengali director, writer and actor who has worked across both popular theatre & independent films. Avignan began his career in 2004 with theatre group Nandikar before moving on as a founder member of 4th Bell theatres. Avignan eventually formed his own group Rosikata in 2014. He wrote, directed and acted in widely acclaimed shows such as Jyanto Hamlet, Pholsi Charar Upakhyan etc. Before his debut film Basanta Prolap (released 2022) he has directed half a dozen short films, many of which won accolades in international competitions. He set up Cut It Entertainments in 2021 to produce his the feature film Basanta Pralap in partnership with an OTT platform. Avignan has acted in famous web series like Tangra Blues, Eken Babu etc besides being active in traditional and folk music. His musical compositions as well as lyrics have been used in dozens of stageplays and films.
