- Actor Richard Steven Haskins was born in Sherman, Texas to Catherine "Cathy" Glover and Richard H. Haskins. He grew up in Denison and Denton, Texas. Haskins' maternal side of his family have been musicians, artists, writers, educators, and served with distinction in the military for many generations. He is the great-great-great-grandson of Alphonso "Alfonso" Steele who served the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence at Washington-on-the-Brazos, marched toward the Alamo in its defense, and after it fell before he could reach it, served as the youngest and longest-living Texan soldier to have served on the San Jacinto battlefield, where the Republic of Texas won its independence from Mexico. (Steele's lifelong friend, William P. Zuber, who guarded the supplies at Harrisburg, was the last living Texas soldier.) Haskins' mother owns the property granted to Steele by the Republic of Texas for Steele's service at San Jacinto.
Haskins formed his first band with his sister and cousin at 12 and began playing professionally as a solo artist in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas, at 14. At 15, he formed his band, The Wee-Beasties. Haskins has performed as a solo artist and with his bands, The Wee-Beasties and Unmarked Graves. He has performed at the 35 Conferette and on the Warped Tour. The Dallas Observer recognized Haskins and his band as one of North Texas' 10 Best Live Acts. He and his band have toured often throughout the U.S. In 2024, one of Haskins' and his band's recordings is featured on Whataburger's and KXT's Homegrown Bites vinyl album. Along with acting, Haskins is a voice artist; musician; composer; arranger; performance artist; recording producer; music event and tour producer; and artist.- IMDb mini biography by: Catherine Glover Giles
