Kevin Campbell(1970-2024)

IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Kevin Campbell is an English footballer. Record holder for most Premier League goals scored by an English non-national player (76). Campbell began his career as a youth team player for Arsenal F.C., joining the club as a schoolboy in 1985. He became a prolific goalscorer at Arsenal's academy, scoring 59 goals in a season. Campbell also won the 1988 FA Youth Cup. Made his first team debut against Everton F.C. on 7 May 1988. Campbell first came to prominence during a loan spell at Leyton Orient F.C. in 1989, scoring nine goals in 16 games. Campbell helped the club reach the play-off stage this season. In the summer of 1995, Campbell was sold to Nottingham Forest F.C., where he spent three seasons. He was part of the team that was relegated in 1997, but his 23 goals the following season helped the Reds win the 1998 Football League Championship. Despite a successful season at Nottingham Forest, Campbell left the club to join Turkish side Trabzonspor. Seven months after his arrival in Trabzon, Campbell left the team. Everton, who were battling relegation from the Premier League, signed Campbell on loan in March 1999. Thanks to his successful performance, he became Everton's top scorer that season. Thus, Campbell almost single-handedly saved the club from relegation from the Premier League. In the 1999-2000 season, he scored Everton's winning goal in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool F.C. at Anfield, Everton's last win at Anfield until 2021. He finished the season as the club's top scorer with a total of 12 goals. In the 2001-02 season, Campbell was named Everton captain and again became the Toffees' top scorer that season. In January 2005, Campbell joined West Bromwich Albion F.C. as a free agent and helped the club avoid relegation from the Premier League. In May 2006, after West Brom were eventually relegated to the Championship, Campbell joined Cardiff City F.C. on a free transfer. At the end of the season he retired as a player.
