After more than a decade of demonic encounters, exorcisms and box office dominance, The Conjuring franchise is preparing to close the case on its most enduring characters. The Conjuring: The Last Rites will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return for one final appearance as Ed and Lorraine Warren, bringing the curtain down on a series that has helped redefine mainstream horror since its debut in 2013.

Directed by Michael Chaves, The Last Rites takes place in 1986, several years after the Warrens’ retirement. When the Smurl family in Pennsylvania finds themselves terrorised by a malevolent presence, Ed and Lorraine are drawn back into the shadows for one last investigation. While previous entries often centred around isolated hauntings, this instalment is being framed as a more introspective reckoning for the couple, delving into their legacy, faith and the emotional cost of a life spent confronting darkness.

The final trailer has dropped for the last Conjuring film, and it sees the Warrens face a familiar demon.

Following the first trailer, which was released in May, Warner Bros. released the new and final trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites on Thursday. The fourth Conjuring film follows Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they take on the Smurl case, which involved a family that was tormented by a demon for more than a decade, inspired by a true story.

But in this trailer, we find out that the demon was one the Warrens previously encountered. “There’s something in the attic. Ed, there’s an evil here. Something I’ve felt before,” Lorraine says.

“This thing in your house is a demon. It’s the first one that we’ve ever encountered,” Lorraine says to the family before later saying to Ed, “We were young. We were scared.

This time, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) are convinced to come out of retirement to look into the infamous Smurl family haunting.

"It is one of the more Googleable ones," producer Peter Safran tells EW. "It really fit the bill for us, being able to lean into something that audiences could go and Google after the movie. 'Oh! Ed and Lorraine Warren have one final case to crack in the iconic “The Conjuring” franchise. The paranormal investigating duo, portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, first appeared onscreen in 2013; now 12 years and a slew of spinoff films later, the original “The Conjuring” will close out with “The Conjuring: The Last Rites.”

Michael Chaves returns to direct “The Last Rites.” In total, the franchise has three “Conjuring” films, three “Annabelle” features, two “Nun” movies, and “The Curse of La Llorona.” Chaves helmed “La Llorona,” “The Nun II,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” A “Conjuring” series is in development at Max as well.

“The Last Rites” is set in the mid-1980s when the Warrens were retired. However, the couple returns for one last case involving the Smurl family. The Warrens most famously investigated the 1976 hauntings in Amityville, New York, which inspired the “Amityville Horror” franchise.

“Discover why this case was their last.” That’s the compelling hook for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final film in the franchise starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson.

Britt has starred in a number of Hallmark films, including: The Groomsmen: First Look, The Groomsmen: Second Chances and The Groomesmen: Last Dance, co-starring with Tyler Hynes and All My Children alum Jonathan Bennett (J.R.). Britt was also named one of People magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive this past November.

Hollingsworth stars on the Netflix series Virgin River and can be seen in the Hallmark films Deck the Halls on Cherry Lane, alongside One Life To Live alum John Brotherton.

When Hallmark+ was announced in summer 2024, it was revealed that Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas movies would not be added to the app.

“‘Countdown to Christmas’ remains a linear experience,” Hallmark Media’s EVP of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly told Variety at the time.

She added, “The content on the app is going to be Holidazed, Mistletoe Murders, our unscripted shows and a couple of movie trilogies coming up that we haven’t announced yet. There’s going to be a bunch of holiday content, but it’s going to be separate and different from what’s on linear.”

Well, Hallmark is giving fans a special gift before Christmas by adding nearly all of this year’s new movies.

15 movies have already been added and there are 24 more movies being added on Friday (December 20).

Hallmark+ is available for $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Subscribers will also get Hallmark Store rewards for having a membership.

Es.TV is set to bring an exciting lineup on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6:30 Am on Talk. The show will feature a star-studded cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role in “Venom: The Last Dance.” His presence promises to bring depth and charisma to the episode.

Anna Kendrick, fresh off her performance in “Woman of the Hour,” will also be part of the show. Her talent and charm are sure to add a lively touch to the morning. Fans of John Brotherton, who recently starred in “Chosen Family,” will be pleased to see him joining the lineup as well.

The episode will also feature the dynamic duo of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, famous for their roles in “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Their chemistry is legendary, and viewers can expect plenty of laughs. Adding to the entertainment will be comic Pedro Hernandez, who is known for his engaging humor.

With Halloween officially over, it’s time for Christmas movies. While the Hallmark+ streaming app has hundreds of holiday movies, some of their favorites from 2023 are not yet on the app but have been added to Netflix.

Hallmark fans are excited about Lacey Chabert’s first Netflix movie, Hot Frosty. This Christmas movie will be premiering on Wednesday, November 13. However, subscribers will be able to see Lacey and other favorite Hallmark stars like Bethany Joy Lenz, and Kristoffer Polaha.

On Tuesday, What’s On Netflix revealed that Netflix will be streaming 10 Hallmark Christmas movies as part of its 2024 holiday season programming. All but one premiered in 2023. Three of these movies star Hallmark Christmas Queen Lacey Chabert.

Heather Graham writes, directs, and stars in the new rom-com Chosen Family, which also stars Julia Stiles, Thomas Lennon, and John Brotherton. She spoke with Will Sayre of MovieWeb about stepping behind the camera, and discussed the planned reboot of Scrubs.

In Chosen Family, yoga teacher Ann cannot escape her manic family, miserable dating life, and inability to say no, leaving her constantly trying to fix everyone else's problems. Things start looking up, however, when her friends set her up with a divorced dad who has an adorable 7-year-old daughter.

We spoke to celebrated actress Julia Stiles leading up to the release of Chosen Family, her new romantic comedy from writer-director and co-star Heather Graham. It's a funny and sweet look at modern-day struggles like finding love while juggling work alongside an overbearing family. Stiles told us how she was inspired by Graham's direction (and sought advice from a surprising action director) for her own upcoming directorial debut, Wish You Were Here, a film adaptation of the novel by Rene Carlino. Stiles told MovieWeb:

We spoke to Heather Graham upon the release of her directorial project Chosen Family, a comedy film she wrote and also stars in. The title lives up to its name, as Graham's lovable lead character navigates modern romance and lasting friendships while struggling to set boundaries against her increasingly needy family. It's the latest in a long line of projects Graham has tackled over the years, on both the big and small screen. TV audiences know her from Twin Peaks, Californication, and, of course, her standout role on the hit sitcom Scrubs and fans have been hoping for a reboot ever since it went off the air. Graham told MovieWeb:
