Michael Winslow (‘Police Academy’) on why he’s auditioning for ‘America’s Got Talent’: ‘I still have something to offer’ [Watch]
Image
Michael Winslow rose to fame in the 1980s thanks to his role as Larvell Jones, the quirky officer who made sound effects, in the “Police Academy” movies. He later appeared in films like “Gremlins” and “Spaceballs” before retiring from the biz to help raise his kids after his wife died. Now, the 62-year-old voicetramentalist is hoping to return to the entertainment industry and he’s using “America’s Got Talent” as the stepping stone for how to get there. Above, watch the “AGT” sneak peek video before the episode airs Tuesday, July 13 on NBC.

“I used to be the man of 10,000 sound effects, but we’re into the hundreds of thousands now,” Winslow explains backstage. When host Terry Crews asks him how it all started, Winslow responds, “I always did this and this is just a part of me.

Baby-faced comedian Cam Bertrand (‘America’s Got Talent’) wins over Heidi Klum with jokes about buying wine [Watch]
Image
Heidi Klum is notoriously the harshest critic when it comes to judging stand-up comedians on “America’s Got Talent.” However, she completely fell in love with 27-year-old Cam Bertrand and his jokes about the struggles of buying wine with a baby face. The Tampa, Florida resident has gone through life appearing as a teenager — “I look 17 at best,” he noted — which tends to cause him problems at the liquor store. All four panelists easily voted “yes” to send Cam through to the next round, which means we’ll see him again in the Judge Cuts round. Watch the “AGT” video above.

“I got Heidi? That’s a win in itself!” Cam shouted from the stage, as Heidi got up from her seat and danced around in a tight circle. Simon Cowell then asked Cam how much experience he has doing gigs, and the young man responded, “I get on stage almost every night of the week.

America's Got Talent Premiere: Who Got the First Golden Buzzer of Season 16?
Image
In a rare occurrence for America’s Got Talent, the NBC competition returned on Tuesday with the exact same line-up of judges that it left us with last season.

Fortunately, the Season 16 premiere still mixed things up by opening the show with an insanely meta dog act. Not only did The Canine Stars give us dog versions of each judge (including Bow-wowie Mandel and Simon Howl), but the group also managed to unlock one of my more disturbing childhood memories of those creepy Sesame Street sketches — you know, the ones where the dogs had human bodies and did people stuff?

300 Producer is Reviving Hopalong Cassidy
According to the trades, Producer Mark Canton (300) is teaming with Pterodactyl Productions for a pair of big screen projects that include a film about iconic cowboy character and B-movie Western staple Bill “Hopalong" Cassidy. Created in 1904 by writer Clarence E. Mulford, the Cassidy character appeared as a rough-talking galoot in a series of popular stories and novels before segueing to the screen in 1935 as a clean-cut hero. William Boyd played the character in 66 films throughout the 1930s, '40s and '50s. Known by millions as "Hoppy," the character also spawned comic books, radio serials and the first network TV Western series. Cassidy also became the first image to be featured on a lunchbox. The other project Canton and Pterodactyl are developing is Honor for Sale, based on a book by Gerald Kelly about a heroin heist perpetrated by a group of NYPD narcotics detectives. It will revolve around the...

Mark Canton To Produce Honor For Sale
Busy day for Mark Canton. Not only did the producer of 300 (amongst other films) sign a deal with Pterodactyl Prods to bring Hopalong Cassidy to the big screen after decades away, he also picked up the rights to a story so invigorating that it’s already spawned three great movies.Canton has picked up Honor For Sale, a book by Gerald Kelly about a gang of New York narcotics cops in the 1970s who actually ran the biggest heroin distribution ring at that time. This involved pulling off a massive heroin heist that inspired elements of both French Connection movies and Ridley Scott’s American Gangster. So much for New York's Finest, huh? Still, should make for a hell of a story. The script for the movie was adapted by the late John Bishop, and Canton will produce – as he will on Hopalong Cassidy – with Pterodactyl’s Aaron Peters and Ivan Cohen.
