Born and raised, but not conceived in New York City, David J. Green is a 25-year-old writer-director who loves making audiences laugh. Green's feature directorial debut, Slaughter at Camp Swinelake, a zombie horror-comedy about body image and self-acceptance, was produced by Lloyd Kaufman, distributed by Troma Entertainment, and features indie horror favorite Zelda Adams (Hellbender, Mother of Flies). For his documentary short Eugene Gregan: Born Dead, Green interviewed the titular painter as well as legendary actor and Gregan admirer Judd Hirsch. Green's offbeat, raunchy rom-com short, Gen. Sex (11 mins), starring Jared Gilman (Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom) screened at Kevin Smith's SModcastle Film Festival, The Iron Mule Short Comedy Film Festival, and New York Short Film Festival as well as being listed as a semi-finalist to screen at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. In 2023, Green's quirky horror-comedy short, Where Did The Day Go? (12 mins), which he wrote, directed, and starred in, won the award for Best Horror-Comedy at the Houston Comedy Film Festival. In 2021, Green's political rom-com, Elephants & Donkeys (7 mins), which he also wrote, directed, and starred in, took home the prize for Best Romantic-Comedy at the same festival. Green has had the honor of working on productions such as Comedy Central's Awkwafina is Nora From Queens and the Richard Kind-starring horror-comedy short Thin Skinned. From coming-of-age and horror to romance and action, Green has written five feature-length screenplays and is developing countless more. Regardless of the genre, Green's work has the dynamic visuals of an Edgar Wright flick, the wild humor of a Seth Rogen comedy, and the emotional sincerity of a John Hughes movie.
