Dog Soldiers and The Descent director Neil Marshall has worked with actress/co-writer Charlotte Kirk on his three most recent films, The Reckoning, The Lair, and Duchess, and they’re continuing their collaboration on the upcoming psychological thriller Compulsion. Deadline reports that Saban Films has secured the domestic distribution rights to the film – and while a release date has not yet been announced, a first look image has been unveiled. It remains to be seen if Neil Marshall will ever get the chance to direct the Dog Soldiers sequel or the Predator movie he wants to make – but he’s not just waiting around to be given those opportunities. His latest film is the action thriller Duchess, which Saban Films will be giving a digital and VOD release on August 9th… and with that date just one month away, a trailer for the film has arrived online. It’s no surprise to hear that Charlotte Kirk will be starring in director Neil Marshall‘s psychological thriller Compulsion, as she has starred in his last three films: The Reckoning, The Lair, and Duchess (which hasn’t been released yet). She has even co-written the screenplays for all three of those movies with Marshall. So it was almost a given that she would star in Compulsion as well, but Deadline reports that she’s being joined in the cast by Anna-Maria Sieklucka, who starred in the massive hit 365 Days for the Netflix streaming service.

Variety has been given exclusive access to the first-look images from Neil Marshall’s action crime thriller “Duchess,” starring British actor Charlotte Kirk, who was linked to the downfall of two Hollywood moguls. Principal photography is in its third week on the movie, which is shooting in Tenerife.
The film is co-written by Marshall and Kirk, the creative duo behind “The Lair,” which opens London’s horror and fantasy film festival Frightfest next month.
Marshall’s credits include “Game of Thrones,” for which he received an Emmy nomination, “The Descent,” for which he won best director at the British Independent Film Awards, and, most recently, 2019’s “Hellboy” and 2020’s “The Reckoning,” which also starred and was co-written by Kirk.
Kirk became front-page news in Hollywood after her extramarital affairs with Kevin Tsujihara, at that time CEO of Warner Bros., and Ron Meyer, the then vice chairman of NBCUniversal, led to their dismissals.

Niall Johnson is directing the New Zealand-set period adventure film.
Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Jack Davenport (Pirates Of The Carribean) will star in Niall Johnson’s adventure film The Stolen, which will shoot in New Zealand in May.
Set during the country’s gold rush of the 1860s, Eve will play an upper class British woman searching for her kidnapped child in a perilous wilderness inhabited by ex-cons, with Davenport playing her romantic charge.

New action series concept, The Fight Room has made the official selection of the prestigious New York Television Festival. Featuring martial arts champion and action actress Zara Phythian (The Hike) and action directed by Christian Howard (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist), the series is written by Gillian MacGregor and Emily Corcoran, directed by Niall Johnson and executive produced by Graeme Fry for Cork Films Ltd and Stanley Road Productions.

The cross-media market and conference event, unfolding June 19-20 in a former warehouse on the outskirts of Paris, marks its fifth edition this year.
Founder Bruno Smajda is expecting it to be the biggest edition to date.
“It’s taken off in terms of the quality of the projects and the attendance of commissioners, one feeds into another,” he says.
“Today producers and broadcasters have to conceive projects in a transmedia way, taking into account convergence and what’s happening digitally — not least due to the realities of the market and the way in which people consume content,” says Smadja.

When I first watched the 2008 rendition of Mamma Mia (starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, etc.) my mind was sent into immediate hiding when the film opened with incredibly loud female shrieks on a dock. The shrieks split sky and eardrum alike and instantly put my brain into a stupor – Sisterhood repeats the assault, but over and over again. However, unlike Mamma Mia, the screams in Sisterhood are meant to elicit laughter (not just migraines), because that’s the caliber of comedy it has to offer. The film may deserve some credit for performing admirably well considering it’s a barebones independent feature created on a shoestring budget, but there are some parts which just can’t be redeemed.
