Margot Robbie has become one of the biggest A-list stars in Hollywood. A great deal of that is owed to the blockbuster success of "Barbie," but she's been on the rise for years now. One of her biggest moments came in 2019 when she played the late Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Robbie's portrayal of Tate was even praised by the late actress' family. Tate's family also helped Robbie get into character in a pretty special way.
Tarantino teamed up with author Jay Glennie who will write books for three of his films beginning with "The Making of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Exclusive: Quentin Tarantino has teamed with journalist-author Jay Glennie to write books for three of his films beginning with The Making of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood. The coffee table-sized book will be released November 11 by Insight Editions. That publisher took over an initial deal made with Little Brown, and it grew to encompass all 10 of Tarantino’s films, the last of which he’s yet to make.
The Story Factory’s Shane Salerno made a three-book deal with Insight CEO Raoul Goff and publisher Vanessa Lopez. After Once Upon a Time, the next two will cover Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. Those will release in 2026 and 2027, as Tarantino and Glennie continue to wade through the director’s movies with full access to casts.

Shazam! Star Commits “Career Suicide” — Or Does He?
When Zachary Levi stood onstage at a Sept. 28 rally in Michigan and endorsed Donald Trump, he declared it an act of “career suicide” that would end his chances of working again in “very, very liberal” Hollywood. The crowd ate it up, applauding the 44-year-old Shazam! star for his sacrifice to the Maga cause. But in L.A., there was more than a little head-scratching. Not because Levi was endorsing a convicted felon and adjudicated sex offender — the anti-vaxxer actor has done weirder things than that, like supporting Robert Kennedy Jr. for president — but because lots of folks here had assumed Levi’s mainstream career already was all but dead. His latest big-screen venture, Harold and the Purple Crayon, was one of the year’s biggest box office duds, and his 2023 superhero movie, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, had one of the worst...

The sister of Sharon Tate spoke about the prison release of Manson Family member Leslie Van Houten for the first time.
Speaking to ABC News just days after Van Houten’s release to a “transitional living facility” after 53 years in prison, Debra Tate said, “Is she a nice girl? No. Is she an animal? I think she was then, and I fear that she still is.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is also not happy with Quentin Tarantino's portrayal of Bruce Lee in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino has been standing up for the way Lee comes off in his movie, but Shannon Lee, the late martial artist's daughter, doesn't want to have anything to do with the situation and wishes the director would just "shut up" about it now. NBA legend and friend of Lee, Abdul-Jabbar is now weighing in on the subject.
First and foremost, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a fan of Quentin Tarantino's work and knows Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the director's take on these historic events from 1969. However, when a movie involves real-life people, things can easily end up going bad, which seems to be the case here, according to Shannon Lee and Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar argues that these portrayals creep into our "shared cultural conscience as impressions of those real people.

Debra Tate has nothing but glowing things to say about Margot Robbie's performance as her late sister, Sharon Tate, in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Quentin Tarantino-directed film, which follows a washed-up actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) as they try to make their Hollywood comeback, is set in 1969, the same year that Sharon Tate was murdered by the Manson family. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Debra Tate gave the project her seal of approval while expressing her interest in a Sharon Tate biopic written and directed by Tarantino.
"When I read the whole script, I knew that the real meat of the story was going to be Leo and Brad Pitt's characters," she said. "I mean, I really wish that Quentin Tarantino would do the Sharon Tate story, and I would love to see Margot play [that] . . . But that was not the movie that Quentin had written,...

Debra Tate, sister to actress Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was very involved in the process of helping Robbie become the iconic actress. She loaned Robbie her sister’s jewelry and perfume, and was very supportive of Robbie’s portrayal.
Tarantino even invited Debra to the set on the day they filmed a scene in which Tate goes to the movies to see the most recent film she acted in, The Wrecking Crew. In the scene, she arrives at the theater and explains that she’s in the movie. The theater owner invites her in to watch, and the girl at the ticket booth asks to first take her picture in front of the movie poster. Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood made Debra Tate cry. Tate was taken by Margot Robbie's portrayal of her sister, Sharon Tate, and wished Tarantino would've made a whole movie dedicated to her. For Debra, the road to the movie didn't start on a positive note. She originally slammed Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Tarantino for making the movie, which involved her sister, though she hadn't read the story by that point.
Debra Tate has since come around to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and she likes what she read and saw on the big screen. Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate portrayal really effected Debra in a way she apparently wasn't expecting, which speaks to what Quentin Tarantino and Robbie pulled off. Debra Tate had this to say about seeing Robbie as her sister on the big screen for the first time.

Debra Tate, sister of Sharon Tate, reveals Margot Robbie brought her to tears in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Ever since Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, there has been a media scrutiny about whether the film did right by Sharon Tate, and the actor portraying her, Margot Robbie, given her relatively small amount of dialogue. One person who loves the film’s depiction of Sharon, however, is her sister Debra Tate. Sony opens Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” on July 26, close to the 50th anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate and four others. A front-page Variety story on Aug. 11, 1969, two days after the killings, said police described the scene as “a ritualistic mass murder.” Showbiz has since then offered many tasteless depictions of the killings via low-budget exploitation films and TV offerings. Even with a “classy” production like the 1976 “Helter Skelter,” Variety reported that Lorimar intended to “spice up” the four-hour miniseries for overseas by adding more violence and sex.
In November 2018, Debra Tate (Sharon’s sister) wrote a piece for Variety’s special issue on criminal justice reform, American (In)Justice. A victims’ rights activist, she lamented Hollywood’s glamorizing of the Manson family and urged no parole for its remaining members in prison. Margot Robbie channeled late actress Sharon Tate at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, wearing her hair in an identical braided style to the one Tate wore when she attended the festival in 1968.
The similarity was first noticed in a tweet from writer Evan Ross Katz on Thursday.
Robbie, 28, wore her hair in a middle part and styled the front few strands into small braids. Along with the ’60s-inspired hairstyle, she wore a white off-the-shoulder Chanel dress with tulle and lace details paired with silver heels.

Quentin Tarantino‘s hugely anticipated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will transport Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio back to the 60s. Specifically, the year 1969, and though we don’t know a whole lot about it just yet, the recent trailer at least gave us an idea of its premise.
From what we saw, the film will focus on aging Western TV star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his friend and stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), who embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry. However, this being 1969, their story unfolds around the time of the Manson Family murders, with Margot Robbie showing up as Sharon Tate. Despite that, though, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood certainly isn’t a Manson movie.

For almost as long as we’ve been hearing about “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Quentin Tarantino and Sony Pictures, which will release the film, have tried to dispel the notion that it will be all about the Manson murders.
They couldn’t have made their point better than they did with the teaser trailer released Wednesday. Tarantino signals with the teaser that that the film won’t just be a portrait of one horrible night in 1969, but rather of an entire era, sweeping across at least three years prior to the Manson murders.
Because he’s Quentin Tarantino, he doled out those clues via obscure Bruce Lee knowledge, old TV and movie marquees. Let’s look at all the signs, literal and figurative, that “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” won’t surrender its story to Manson.

This August will mark 50 years since the murder of 26-year-old Sharon Tate at the hands of the Manson Family, and to coincide with this somber anniversary, several projects depicting the late actress are currently on the horizon. The one you may have heard the most about is Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which features Margot Robbie in the role of Tate, but before that much-hyped crime drama reaches cinemas, Daniel Farrands’ The Haunting of Sharon Tate will see Hilary Duff offer her take on the title character.

The Haunting of Sharon Tate may wind up being one of the most controversial movies of 2019. It arrives on the anniversary of the gruesome Manson murders, with Hilary Duff starring as the ill-fated actress. Today, we get a look at the first footage, which doesn't appear to portray the crime in accurate fashion, instead selling itself as a re-imagining of events.
The Haunting of Sharon Tate is currently in post-production. The thriller based on true-life events does not yet have an official release date, but it will be in theaters, and more than likely available simultaneously on VOD sometime in early 2019. An official synopsis about the Sharon Tate movie says this.

In what’s surely one of the most morbid and controversy-baiting trends of 2019, Sharon Tate will be depicted in several upcoming films with release dates that fall close to the fiftieth anniversary of her murder at the hands of the Manson Family. While Margot Robbie assumes the part in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Kate Bosworth is set to play the actress in Tate, perhaps the most dubious of the three is The Haunting of Sharon Tate, which sees Hilary Duff in the title role.

The Amityville haunting has been the subject of an endless parade of films dating back to 1979’s The Amityville Horror, but what’s less common to see is a whole movie dedicated to the tragedy that preceded this alleged case of paranormal activity. That’s where The Amityville Murders comes in, with the film set to offer a fictionalized account of the events leading up to the night Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered his family with a high-powered rifle – a crime he later claimed to have committed after hearing voices in the house plotting against him.

On paper, the premise of The Haunting of Sharon Tate suggests an ethically dubious take on the life of the late actress, and coming from the writer of Halloween 4 and The Amityville Murders, we’re not expecting a lot of tact in its execution, either. That being said, we can always hold out hope that Daniel Farrands and his team have the skill and the sensitivity to pull this thing off, and to be fair, this is a perfectly nice photo of Hilary Duff in the title role.
The film is said to offer a “reimagining” of Tate’s final days leading up to her murder at the hands of the Manson Family, taking inspiration from a quote published a year prior in which she recalled having dreams of ghosts haunting her house. Needless to say, to use this alleged premonition of death and the tragedy that followed as the...

With principal photography officially underway on Quentin Tarantino’s ninth full-length feature, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, how, exactly, the filmmaker will be tackling his latest piece of delicate subject matter is finally beginning to take shape.
Surely by now – amid the release date controversy and disapproval of Debra Tate – it should be common knowledge that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set against the backdrop of 1969 Los Angeles, specifically, “during the Helter Skelter reign of terror.” After all, Margot Robbie is portraying none other than Sharon Tate, the murdered, pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski.
What isn’t common knowledge, though, is that Bruce Lee was initially a suspect in the murder of Tate, which, of course, we now know was ultimately carried out by the Manson family. Nonetheless, as a happy result of his open marriage with historical accuracy – evident during the bombastic conclusion of Inglorious...

Author Debra Tate, the sister of late actress and model Sharon Tate, was initially against Quentin Tarantino incorporating Sharon’s murder into “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” TMZ reports that Tarantino arranged a meeting with Debra Tate to discuss her reservations, and she is now feeling better about the project. Part of her newfound optimism is the result of Sony’s decision last week to move up the release date so the film no longer hits theaters on the crime’s 50th’s anniversary.
“This movie is not what people would expect it to be when you combine the Tarantino and Manson names,” Debra Tate told the website. Four years ago, she published “Sharon Tate: Recollection” in her sister’s memory. The forward was written by Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski, who was married to Sharon Tate when — in August 1969 — she and four others were killed in their home by followers of Charles Manson.

Debra Tate is fiercely protective about her sister's legacy and apparently the new Hilary Duff movie The Haunting of Sharon Tate doesn't meet her expectations. Tate calls the movie "classless" and "exploitative" in a new interview. While she doesn't mention Quentin Tarantino by name, she states that all of the movies rushing to get out on the 50th anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate are 'tasteless'. Tarantino is currently casting his new movie set in the year 1969, which has Sharon Tate's story as the backdrop, and is reportedly coming out on the 50th anniversary of Tate's death.
According to Debra Tate, The Haunting of Sharon Tate, which stars Hillary Duff, insinuates that her sister had premonitions about her death. Tate says that the rumors of premonitions are completely false and is publicly speaking out against any of the movies coming out to capitalize on the 50th anniversary of her sister's murder.

The death of Charles Manson brought up a lot of disturbing memories for Bryan Cranston. The 61-year-old actor took to Twitter on Monday to recall an incident that happened when he was around 13 years old.
“Hearing Charles Manson is dead, I shuddered,” he wrote. “I was within his grasp just one year before he committed brutal murder in 1969. Luck was with me when a cousin and I went horseback riding at the Span Ranch, and saw the little man with crazy eyes whom the other hippies called Charlie.”
Manson orchestrated several murders in 1969 after Cranston’s alleged encounter with him, including the killing of the then-pregnant Sharon Tate.
"I said a prayer, shed a tear, stuck a flower under my cross in my bedroom and emailed Roman [Polanski]," Sharon’s sister, Debra Tate, told New York Daily News. Polanski was married to Sharon at the time of her murder.
