Tom Hardy's "Peaky Blinders" character has been through a lot over the course of the series' six seasons. Most notably, in the fourth season finale his character Alfie Solomons got shot in the face by on-and-off ally Tommy (Cillian Murphy), only to apparently live to reconcile with the show's antihero another day. Hardy returned in the fifth season, one eye blinded and his face scarred by the injury, yet still walking and talking and ready to knock some skulls as needed.
Except, what ever happened to the cancer that Alfie told Tommy he had just before he got shot? And what about his unexplained skin condition, which gets progressively worse throughout the series before being mostly replaced by his gunshot scars in season 5? Was his coarse and discolored skin a hint at the cancer diagnosis, or something else entirely? Surprisingly, the answer might tie in to the key "Peaky Blinders" character's ultimate fate.

The “Peaky Blinders” film spin-off will begin production in the next 18 months, according to screenwriter Steven Knight. During an interview with U.K. radio station Heart FM, Knight confirmed that he’s “nearly done” writing the script.
“We’re going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth, and on location in Digbeth in Birmingham,” he said. “Digbeth and Small Heath [are] where the Peaky Blinders actually roamed, so it’s like ‘Peaky’s’ coming home.”
As for whether fan favorites will return for the film, Knight teased: “There’s going to be some familiar faces and new faces that will hopefully be quite surprising.”

Warning: contains plot spoilers for Peaky Blinders season six 1-6.
Peaky Blinders is a designer’s dream, says Nicole Northridge. The gangster drama’s visual style, mythological swagger and love of symbolism mean that when it comes to designing its sets, “you can absolutely go to town. You can make it abstract, almost like a graphic novel.” The period backdrops and locations aren’t only laboriously researched by production designer Northridge and her art team in collaboration with director Anthony Byrne, but also woven with symbolic story references. Gold, black, white horses, rising suns, images foreshadowing death and evoking the rot of fascism… season six’s backdrops are studded with thematic visual detail, adding extra layers of meaning if you know where to look.
Gold = Money = Death
Visually, season six is dripping with gold, a symbol of the material wealth Tommy Shelby has amassed over more than a decade of gangsterism.

Exclusive: Spoiler Alert: This post contains details about the series finale of Peaky Blinders…: Peaky Blinders, the award-winning, fan-adored period gangster epic created by Steven Knight drew to a close in its TV series form on Sunday night in the UK (it debuts in the U.S. and elsewhere via Netflix on June 10). The finale, which has been unanimously praised, also leans in to the much touted movie to come, which Knight, in our discussion below, says will take place during World War II. Here’s our post-mortem on Peaky, and a look forward.
Deadline: So, let me just start with this: Thank you for not killing Tommy
Steven Knight: You can’t kill Tommy! It’s good the fact that it’s the last episode cause people think he might actually die, whereas if there’s another series… you know what I mean? So you do have that on your side.

Warning: this Peaky Blinders review contains spoilers.
Tommy escaped. He escaped it all – the fascists and the fake diagnosis and his family and himself. He rode out of Peaky Blinders just as he rode into it, only this time (this drama loves symbolism) on a white and not a black horse. Season six had sent him to hell where he’d reckoned with his sins. Then a plot by his enemies presented him with a rare opportunity to ride for the hills and leave it all behind. And as we know, Tommy’s never one to miss an opportunity. When Arthur and Curly and Charlie rake the ashes of Tommy’s wagon for silver and gold, they’ll find his wedding ring and watch and think him gone. He’s free.

The finale of “Peaky Blinders” will be a feature-length episode that builds expectations for an upcoming franchise film, director Anthony Byrne says.
Byrne told RadioTimes.com the Season 6 send-off has a run time of 81 minutes.
“It’s such a Peaky thing to do for the last hurrah. It’s the 10:22 news for one night only,” Byrne said. “It feels very, very different to the rest of the season. Episode One: Black Day Charlie Chaplin, William Blake, and The Shining
– The Romani gypsy words spoken by Ruby in her fevered state appear to be “Tikno mora o beng o beng”. In this English/Romani dictionary, ‘tikno’ means child or small, ‘mora’ or ‘maura’ means to slay or kill, and ‘o beng’ means ‘the devil’. Tommy takes those words extremely seriously and instructs Lizzie to keep Ruby away from horses and water, and to have Johnny Dogs’ eldest wife Esmeralda put a Black Madonna pendant around Ruby’s neck for protection from curses.

BBC One has set the premiere date for the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders with the award-winning period gangster saga set to return on February 27 at 9pm in the UK. The date was made official this morning in Birmingham, home to the fictional Shelby clan, via a 42-foot high mural looming over Digbeth’s Old Crown (see it in full below).
The season will run for six episodes on BBC One on Sundays. Netflix airs the hit series outside the UK, though a start date has not been confirmed. Typically, the show begins on Netflix following the original UK run.
Cillian Murphy is back as Tommy Shelby, who we saw in the trailer released last month to be seeking a means for the titular clan to finally rest. Returning as well are Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sophie Rundle, among others. Stephen Graham also appears.

Warning: contains Peaky Blinders Series 5 spoilers.
Since Peaky Blinders broke through on Netflix in the US, its creators have dropped hints about the Hollywood superstars lobbying for roles in the Birmingham-based gangster drama. Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Snoop Dogg, Samuel L. Jackson and more are all fans of the show, and apparently keen to come aboard. Those names don’t appear among the series six cast announced below (though who knows about the planned follow-up feature film), but it’s obvious that Peaky Blinders has no trouble attracting serious talent. Series six welcomes acclaimed This is England, Boardwalk Empire, The Virtues and Line of Duty‘s Stephen Graham, and welcomes back Tom Hardy once again as the apparently unkillable Alfie Solomons. Both will appear in Peaky Blinders’ final TV series, alongside one of the finest British regular casts around. We’ll update this list as more details are confirmed.

Peaky Blinders lost one of the family last week with the death of “Aunt Pol” Helen McCrory, but the hit BBC drama series forged on with filming on Monday while paying tribute to its former cast member.
“Forever part of the Peaky Blinders family,” the show posted across its social media accounts, alongside a clapperboard illustrated with McCrory in character and the words: “Rest in peace Helen.” The image was taken by director Anthony Byrne.

Peaky Blinders has been lensing since January, but there is no word yet on how the show will move forward without McCrory. It is unclear whether she shot any episodes, but her untimely death will likely change the final arc of her character.
Peaky Blinders co-star Cillian Murphy was among the many who remembered McCrory last week. “I am broken-hearted to lose such a dear friend.

The Shelby family is hanging it up, to a degree.
BAFTA-winning period gangster saga Peaky Blinders is due to conclude after the upcoming sixth season, which has begun filming, producers said today. The news that Season 6 will be the last for the Birmingham clan is likely to be met with dismay by the rabid global fanbase, especially after Season 5 drew record numbers for BBC One. Still, after a long production delay due to Covid, there is solace that the team is back.
Created by Steven Knight and starring Cillian Murphy, the beloved drama first aired on BBC Two eight years ago before making the move to BBC One in 2019 with audiences of over 7M. Outside the UK, it airs on Netflix.
Knight says, “Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher.

“Peaky Blinders” will conclude with the British period crime drama’s upcoming sixth season, which has just begun production in the U.K., the BBC announced Monday.
“‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang,” creator and writer Steven Knight said in a statement Monday. “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”
Representatives for BBC did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on what other “form” Knight was referring to.
Set in Birmingham, England, “Peaky Blinders” takes place after World War I and stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, a powerful member of the Shelby crime family.

Hit BBC drama “Peaky Blinders” will end after its sixth and final season, but creator and writer Steven Knight has promised the story will “continue in another form.”
Hugely popular overseas, the series follows the story of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his notorious family’s rise to power against the backdrop of working class, post-wwi Birmingham. BBC confirmed the show’s terminus on Monday, when announcing that it had resumed production in the U.K. under strict Covid guidelines.
The season 6 ending is something of a surprise given Knight previously told Entertainment Weekly in 2019 that “Peaky Blinders” would live to see season 7. However, a year’s delay in production due to the pandemic is likely to have accelerated plans to wrap with season 6, which will likely air in late 2021 or possibly even early 2022 depending on how quickly production can complete filming amid the U.K.’s ongoing virus crisis.

In the wave of disruption, cancellations and postponements caused by the global spread of Covid-19, the production companies behind Peaky Blinders and Line Of Duty, both currently in production on their sixth series, have halted filming.
As reported by The Guardian, a BBC spokesperson confirmed that Peaky Blinders’ Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions had suspended filming on the new series, as had World Productions for Line Of Duty. The decisions were taken “both in consultation with and supported by the BBC” in light of the spread of Covid-19.
“We will continue to review all productions on a case-by-case basis and will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the Foreign Office, World Health Organization and Public Health England,” assured the corporation, in a statement subsequently reported by Variety and Deadline.

Exclusive: Coming off of its highest-rated run so far, the Steven Knight-created period gangster saga Peaky Blinders will begin shooting its 6th season in March. That’s after a move to BBC One last year and a first BAFTA for Outstanding Drama in 2018. Executive Producer Caryn Mandabach is the proud owner of the series that stars Cillian Murphy, and her Caryn Mandabach Productions has managed to remain independent amid a shifting television landscape and flurry of consolidation.
When we spoke recently, Mandabach felt it was important to talk about rights. In discussions with her fellow producers who have seen success, ownership is a main topic. “Everyone is feeling the heat,” she says. “No one who has already achieved success wants to go work as a producer for hire… The meaning of rights over time is if you’re careful and you own it, you are going to do right by it.

Season five of Peaky Blinders - which hit Netflix in the Us on Oct. 4 - is a wild ride, and the good news for fans is that season six of the show is definitely happening. Peaky Blinders fans in the U.S. still have to wait until Netflix drops Season 5 of the epic gangster drama on October 4, but in the UK last night, the season drew to a close on BBC One with a series high 3.8M overnight viewers. The figures edged the record previously set by this season’s episode 3, and come with a higher share at 22.6% of the audience. Overall, the Cillian Murphy-starrer has been blowing away numbers from Seasons 1-4 which aired on BBC Two. The first four episodes of this season have averaged 5.9M in 7-day consolidated viewing across all screens.
When the season debuted in late August, Peaky blazed back onto UK television with its best-ever launch at an average 3.7M viewers in the overnights (6.2M consolidated). Before the move to BBC One this year, Peaky’s highest overnight was the Season 4 finale at 2.4M. The Steven Knight-created...

Netflix is bringing back Peaky Blinders for a fifth season and we’ve got a fantastic new trailer to share with you for it that is sure to get the fans pumped up for what this next season will entail. Cinematographer Si Bell was thrilled to learn he and director Anthony Byrne had been tapped to shoot the fifth season of BBC’s “Peaky Blinders,” but surprised to find out how free a hand executive producers Caryn Mandabach and Jamie Glazebrook were giving them to determine the scheme of their six-episode run.
“I expected to meet the execs and talk about the set look and all the rules and how they liked things done, but it wasn’t like that at all,” Bell says.
The series stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, head of the Shelby organized crime family in 1920s Birmingham, England. Loosely based on a real-life urban youth gang that was active in the nation from the 1890s into the early 20th century, the series jumps forward several years each season from the previous one to deliver a fresh narrative. For U.S. viewers, Season 5 drops Oct. 4 on Netflix.

If you've still not immersed yourself in the dark but beautiful world of the Peaky Blinders, it's about time you did. The British show, which follows the lives of a gangster family in Birmingham, England, after WWI, is available to Us fans via Netflix, and it didn't take long for it to develop a strong following. Season 5 will premiere on Oct. 4, and here's everything we know to expect.

Cillian Murphy will continue to lead the cast as the charismatic Tommy Shelby, along with the return of key characters like Aunt Pol (Helen McCrory) and Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), too. Peaky Blinders blazed back onto UK television on Sunday night, scoring its best-ever debut with an average 3.7M viewers in the overnights. The Cillian Murphy-led series, now airing on BBC One, comfortably won the 9Pm slot with a 22.8 share, and peaked at 4M viewers.
The six-episode 5th season marks a move to Sundays and to BBC One from Peaky’s previous home on BBC Two, after it took the Best TV Drama BAFTA for Season 4. That run was Peaky’s most-watched, and the show the top drama of 2017 on BBC Two at a consolidated 3.3M viewers.
Because the Steven Knight-created series shifted networks this year, comparisons are not apples-to-apples. However, the 5th season premiere blasted past previous overnight launches which were led by Season 1 (2.4M average viewers), Season 4 (2.3M), Season 3 (2M) and Season 2 (1.7M).

Netflix has revealed the release date for the fifth season of “Peaky Blinders,” announcing that the Shelby family’s crime saga will launch Oct. 4 on the streaming service. This is after the BBC One drama first airs across the pond, of course.
Here’s the official description for the Steven Knight-created series’ fifth season:
An epic, gangster family series set in the lawless streets of Birmingham, UK and beyond, Peaky Blinders follows the evolution of leader Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) from backstreet crime lord to legitimate businessman and member of parliament. It explores the notions that violence destroys lives, empires rise and fall over time, and class divisions are corrosive. Anticipation for S5 has been ramping up as the global fanbase eagerly awaits Peaky’s return, nearly two years after Season 4 which was its highest-rated yet — the trailer for the upcoming run has garnered more than 3.5M views since its unveiling at the end of July. The Steven Knight-created series is also coming back after it scored its first Best TV Drama BAFTA, for Season 4, in 2018 — a rarity for a show that many years along.

Few shows get the opportunity for its characters to invoke the series’ title in serious, hushed tones. Then again, few shows are “Peaky Blinders.”
The BBC released the first look at the historical drama’s Season 5, complete with plenty of the trademark simmering violence that’s powered the show to date. For this upcoming batch of episodes, that rage seems to be spilling over, as the fieriness within the show’s central group begins to bubble over into an ever-shifting early 20th century England.
Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), fresh off a surprise win at the end of the previous season, now faces the opportunity to shape things from inside Parliament as opposed to the streets of Birmingham. It’s the late 1920s and the rest of the Shelbys still seem pretty content to do whatever it takes to assert themselves and their family in the face of an uncertain world.
