John Cena Makes Huge Donation To Black Lives Matter
Since the murder of George Floyd, many celebrities have expressed their support for Black Lives Matter. But there’s a big difference between those who simply posted a black square in solidarity and those who’ve reached into their pockets to provide tangible assistance. This has led to a push from K-Pop band Bts to maximize donations to the movement.

Bts began with a $1 million donation to Black Lives matter, urging their #BTSArmy to match it with the #ARMYMatch1m hashtag. Now, they’ve been joined by Fast & Furious 9 star John Cena, who’s contributed $1 million, making for a total of $3 million.

Cena explicitly credited Bts and their fans for inspiring him, saying:

“Very happy to join #Btsarmy in efforts to match @BTS_twt tremendous donation #ARMYMatch1M”

In a further tweet, he expanded on his views on Black Lives Matter and the protests taking place across the nation and around the world,...

Owen Hart’s ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ Episode Is the Highest-Rated Telecast in Vice TV History
Owen Hart
Owen Hart’s “Dark Side of the Ring” episode pinned down 626,000 total viewers, counting three days of DVR viewing, with 390,000 of that total coming from the key adults 18-49 demographic. Both are new ratings records for a Vice TV telecast, according to Nielsen.

Guess what the previous record-holder was? Yeah, the prior week’s “Dark Side of the Ring.”

By this point in the story, you’ve probably figured out that “Dark Side” is Vice’s most successful series in its relatively young history, and that Season 2 has outperformed Season 1.

‘Aew: Double or Nothing 2020’ PPV Review
Image
Welcome to this review of All Elite Wrestling: Double Or Nothing, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we lost Hana Kimura, Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka. Shad and Larry have GoFundMe pages you can donate to here and here. When I was Pam Grier, my sweet, black ass always loved to watch half-naked people grab each other real hard and I’m doing that now as Double Or Nothing begins…now.

Match #1: Best Friends defeated Private Party

My Opinion: 3.4 out of 5 – This was a sparkly match. Sparkly is the word I’m sticking with…sparkly out the ass. While no Steiners/Road Warriors clash of maniacs frenzy, this was an encouraging sign for Aew’s tag division, as Pp did better than they have in the past, while the BFs line-danced their way to the win.

Match #2: Brian Cage defeated Darby Allin, Colt Cabana, Orange Cassidy,...

Friday Night Smackdown – May 22nd 2020: Results & Review
Image
Welcome to this week’s Friday Night SmackDown review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and both Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka have GoFundMe campaigns available here and here. I look like Sinead O’Connor if she got hit by a train and this is CNN.

Match #1: Braun Strowman def. The Miz The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

John Morrison threw The Miz into the hands of The Monster Among Men after the night’s edition of “The Dirt Sheet” went awry with Braun Strowman’s cameo. Mc Miz was in a groove early, but the Universal Champion quickly turned the tables and a Running Powerslam pulled the plug on the match. The outspoken tandem was only silenced for moments as Morrison challenged the Universal Champion to a Handicap Title Match at WWE Backlash that Strowman quickly accepted.

My Opinion: 2.6 out of 5 – Braun and The Miz did a squash match that…...

‘WWE 205 Live’ Review (May 22nd 2020)
Image
Welcome to this week’s 205 Live review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Stardom wrestler Hana Kimura committed suicide, because a bunch of jack-asses went on the internet and told her she was a piece of s— for knocking some guy’s hat of his head for shrinking her wrestling gear in the wash. What a lousy week. Additionally, both Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka (who died this recently) have GoFundMe campaigns available here and here. Internet nerds piss me off when they act like pricks and here comes some cruiserweight wrestling.

Match #1: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. Ever-Rise The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch were motivated to keep the momentum going from their Nxt win, and that determination was evident from the opening bell against Ever-Rise. Chase Parker & Matt Martel had an early advantage, but Lorcan & Burch did what they...

‘All Elite Wrestling: Dark’ Review (May 19th 2020)
Image
Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dark review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and both Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka have GoFundMe campaigns available here and here. Me and my old lady, Countess McScrew, are gonna haul ass to Las Vegas and bet it all on broke. Hiya!

Match #1: Hikaru Shida def. Dani Jordyn

My Opinion: 3.1 out of 5 – I liked the way this cookie crumbled. The chocolate chips melted in many of the right spots and the batter never broke down to sugar soup like when Boo Berry was offed by Monsanto for pissing off the Corn-Holes. Shida and Dani meshed really well and knocked the snot out of each other.

Match #2: Qt Marshall def. Clutch Adams

My Opinion: 2.5 out of 5 – This was alright, but there was no tepee for my bung-hole, so it made me sad.

Match #3: Marko Stunt def. Jason Cade...

WWE Star Shad Gaspard Is Honored at Venice Beach Memorial Service
Shad Gaspard
Just days after WWE star Shad Gaspard passed away, a memorial service was held in Venice Beach for the 39-year-old professional wrestler and actor. Friday's vigil — held by Shad's wife, Siliana Gaspard —drew family, friends and fans to the Los Angeles shore, where the grappler reportedly drowned last week. The beach was filled with flowers, candles and love for the father, who was also involved in the world of video games and graphic novels. Gaspard died after a swimming accident with his 10-year-old son, Aryeh. After the two were pulled to sea by a rip current, only his child survived. On Monday afternoon, Siliana shared that her husband had gone missing from the Marina Del Rey beach...

Victor Cruz Is ‘Fully Aware’ of That Enzo Amore Promo About Their High School Football Face-Off
Victor Cruz
Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, a competitor on the upcoming Season 2 of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Titan Games,” is “fully aware” of that somewhat underground Eric Arndt high school football promo — the one before the pro wrestler went by Enzo Amore in the WWE or by nZo on the independent scene today.

In the YouTube video, which is from Arndt’s pre-nxt days, the then-aspiring professional wrestler plays a clip from his high school football days, in which the future tag team partner of Big Cass tackles Cruz with a suplex-ish maneuver. Arndt then cuts a promo on Cruz right there in front of his own gridiron highlight reel from high school.

“I am fully aware of him, yes, absolutely,” Cruz, 33, like Arndt, told TheWrap ahead of the “Titan Games” season premiere on Memorial Day Monday. “The one time I got tackled in my life had...

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Shad Gaspard and Larry Csonka have died. ‘WWE Nxt’ Review (May 20th 2020)
Image
Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Shad Gaspard did indeed drown when he sacrificed his life for his son during a rip-tide. He may not have been the best wrestler, but he seemed to be one of the good people in wrestling and that is a hell of a lot more important when it matters most. Larry Csonka’s death has cast the same sort of pall over the sport of professional wrestling (“fake” my ass). What a weird week this has been. Well, in honor of two people who seemed to be worth their weight in gold, let’s get to the matches.

Bane Mask Sales Surge as Businesses and Movie Theaters Begin to Reopen
Image
No one cared who you were until you put on the mask. Bane's mask, that is. As lockdown restrictions ease up and people travel outdoors, several local governments, such as in Los Angeles, have made it mandatory for people to wear masks. And as reported by various costume stores, the mask used by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises is proving quite popular among fans.

Christopher Nolan's third film in the Dark Knight trilogy saw Tom Hardy take on the role of the hulking monster Bane, an excommunicated member of The League of Shadows who comes to Gotham to break Batman and lay waste to the city.

Tom Hardy's portrayal of the villain was a marked departure from the comics, eschewing the character's Latin roots and full-face mask that supplies the steroid called venom to his body in favor of a British accent and a partial face mask that...

Gaspard, 39, was swimming with his 10-year-old son when lifeguards began rescuing swimmers from the dangerous waters around 4 p.m., according to TMZ. Gaspard’s son was saved, the outlet added, after the ex-wrestler instructed lifeguards to help the boy first before coming back for him.

Officials also told TMZ that they believe Gaspard “did submerge” in the ocean.

Representatives for the Los Angeles County Fire Department did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Local Fox reporter Mario Ramirez tweeted on Monday that divers have resumed their search for Gaspard.

La County Sheriff’s divers just resumed the search for 10-year-old boy’s father who was caught in strong rip currents yesterday.

10 Great Workers WWE Paid Not To Wrestle
WWE.com

Every WWE fan has had a similar complaint about the company over the years, even if only occasionally – it’s that, for the biggest professional wrestling promotion in the world, they often forget that they’re a professional wrestling promotion at all.

Wasting television time on putting over non-wrestling divas making a reality show… interminable opening segments featuring the main eventers talking to one another for half an hour… cringeworthy backstage comedy skits… celebrity guest star spots… it’s a miracle we actually get ten minutes of wrestling a week.

Let’s not even mention the lower card wrestlers who can’t find a spot on TV in amongst all this dross, and who suddenly find themselves taking a phone call informing them that ‘creative has nothing for them’ and that they’re being ‘future endeavoured’.

But even lower card is better than no card, or playing second...

Scoop: 3 More Names On Fox & WB's Radar For Upcoming Superhero Flicks
The other day we reported that Fox and WB are apparently trying to get a leg up on Marvel by looking at lots of unknown - or not very well known - young actors to fill some of the roles in their slate of upcoming comic book movies. I've tried my best to find out exactly which roles, but had no luck (the Sunfire thumbnail is just teasing one possibility) because it turns out even they don't know! My source tells me that they are coming in for readings but only being given scripts from old or unmade projects to work from. Anyway, we may not be able to tell you which CBMs are next on the list, but we can reveal three more names that may just be starring in them. Along with Todd Lasance, Shalim Ortiz, Omar Sy, Shad Gaspard, Godfrey Gao and Joe Taslim, we have: Aldis Hodge...
