Kal Penn has trouble seeing through the cycle of online hate these days.

“When you’re scrolling through Twitter and Instagram, it just seems like everything’s vitriolic and you’re not really sure how to trust people,” the Kal Penn Approves This Message host lamented. “I would imagine there’s a fair amount of performance and everything that many of us do.”

Penn has seen a lot of political action in the years since his breakthrough role in Harold and Kumar. In 2009, he joined the Obama administration as an associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. Just last year, he spoke at the Global Citizen Festival.

Penn says his new late-night talk show on Freeform is a different take on the political variety show formula. His focus is on a younger demographic — Gen Z and Millennials — without a partisan position.

Kal Penn is set to a host an informative comedy series at Freeform exploring issues relevant to young voters, the network said Tuesday.

The untitled project is described as “a smart, irreverent unscripted comedy series that explores issues and topics relevant to Millennial and Gen Z voters.” It was created by Penn and Romen Borsellino, who will also executive produce alongside Dan Spilo and Embassy Row’s Michael Davies and Julia Cassidy.

A veteran of “House” and the “Harold and Kumar” film series, Penn also served as an associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement under the Obama administration from 2009 to 2011, in addition to working on both of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns.

The actor and comedian is set to host an unscripted series at Freeform that looks to explore issues and topics relevant to Millennial and GenZ voters, Variety has confirmed. The Disney-owned network has issued a series order for the untitled comedy project. Precisely what kind of format the series will take is as yet unclear.

Penn created the series alongside Romen Borsellino, and the duo serve as executive producers with Dan Spilo. Michael Davies and Julia Cassidy are also on board to exec produce for Embassy Row.

The “Harold and Kumar” star has prior experience in the electoral politics domain, having worked in the Obama administration, specifically on President Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012.

The untitled project, from Michael Davies’ Embassy Row (Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?), is described as a smart, irreverent unscripted comedy series that explores issues and topics relevant to Millennial and GenZ voters.

The series was created by Penn and Romen Borsellino who also serve as executive producers with Dan Spilo as well as Michael Davie and Julia Cassidy of Embassy Row.

Penn and Borsellino met in 2007 when Penn visited Borsellino’s Roosevelt High School in Des Moines for a campaign event on behalf of Young Americans for Obama. Amazon Studios today announced it has officially ordered a third season of its hit series The Boys, co-produced with Sony Pictures Television, ahead of its highly anticipated second season debut on September 4.

The announcement was made today during The Boys Comic-Con@Home Panel.

Additionally, it was revealed that Emmy Award-winning host Aisha Tyler will serve as host and executive producer of the official The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys.

In each episode of Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, members of the cast, creative team and other special guests will join Tyler as they dissect the events that unfold in each episode.

“Amazon, in a bold and historic push to expand their ‘weirdo’ demographic, has greenlit Season 3 of The Boys! The writers and I are hard at work in the (virtual) writer’s room and we’re sad to say, the world has given us way too much material.

“The Boys” will be back once again — Amazon Prime Video has renewed the superhero and vigilante drama for a third season, the streamer announced Thursday.

Additionally, the second season will deliver an after-show entitled “Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys,” hosted and executive produced by Aisha Tyler. The Boys are coming back for a third season at Amazon and the streamer has added an aftershow series ahead of the launch of season two.

The news was revealed during The Boys panel at Comic-Con@Home. The superhero satire series will launch its second season on September 4 (see clip below).

Friends star and former co-host of CBS’ The Talk Aisha Tyler will host and exec produce The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, featuring members of the cast, creative team and other special guests.

The second season of the show will see The Boys – Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) – on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought.

Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control.

Before “The Boys” is even back in town for Season 2, Amazon Prime Video has already renewed the twisted superhero series for a third season. The aftershow will debut August 28 on Prime Video with a “look back” at the first season of “The Boys” ahead of Sept. 4 Season 2 premiere. Since the second season will launch with three episodes at first and then drop weekly after that, Amazon says the aftershow will “dive into each episode” as they roll out through the Oct. 9 season finale.
