The Thing (1982)
‘The Thing: Remastered’ Gameplay Trailer Puts You In Restored Outpost #31
The Thing (1982)
Nightdive Studios has been hard at work on the remaster of Computer Artworks’ cult classic The Thing video game for PC, Xbox and the PlayStation 2. At publisher DreadXP’s annual Indie Horror Showcase, developer Nightdive Studios presented a brand-new gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated remaster title.

The new trailer below presents an in-depth look at the bloodied and mangled happenings inside of Outpost #31 and the desperation the crew faces in their rescue-turned-escape mission from a gruesome, body-invading alien threat.

The Thing: Remastered is being touted as a faithful restoration of the 2002 third-person survival horror shooter inspired by John Carpenter‘s 1982 classic, The Thing. Nightdive Studios has gone back and upgraded the original game for the modern era via its proprietary Kex Engine, boasting up to a 4K resolution at 120Fps.

In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility.

Deep Dive (2021)
Nightdive Explores ‘The Thing: Remastered’ in New “Deep Dive” Podcast [Video]
Deep Dive (2021)
After blowing fans away last week with the announcement of The Thing: Remastered, Nightdive Studio has taken the opportunity to launch a bi-weekly podcast called “Deep Dive” that delves into the development team and its work on remastering beloved titles. Along with some of Nightdive’s more recent releases, the first episode naturally focuses on The Thing: Remastered.

Hosted by Dimitris Giannakis (aka the Modern Vintage Gamer) with co-hosts Morgan Shaver (Nightdive’s Comms Manager) and Locke Vincent (Nightdive’s Video Producer), the first episode of Deep Dive sees the trio chat with development team working on The Thing: Remastered, and even reaches back even further and chats with Mark Atkinson, one of the original directors and programmers of Computer Artworks’ 2002 The Thing.

The Thing: Remastered is a faithful restoration of the cult-classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter game inspired by Universal Pictures’ genre-defining 1982 film by John Carpenter. Nightdive Studios has...

How ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ Shoots Live Animal Births: ‘They Keep Their Dignity’
Image
“All Creatures Great and Small” is a bucolic balm of a show. The hit British Channel 5 program, which just finished airing its second series on PBS through its Masterpiece anthology, is based on the series of semi-autobiographical novels James Alfred Wight wrote under the pen name James Herriot and follows the daily lives of a veterinary practice in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s. Every episode features a veritable menagerie of adorable animals of different shapes and sizes, from cows and pigs to birds and fish to a pampered Pekingese named Tricki Woo.

All of the veterinarian’s patients come from two animal handling companies: First Choice Animals, which supplies most of the farm animals and the domestic pets, and Atkinson Action Horses, which gives the show all the majestic steeds that populate the farms of Darrowby. Both companies have storied histories working in TV and film, and both...
