How the Skyview from ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Found Its Sweet Spot in the ‘Silent Take’
Image
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for ‘Final Destination Bloodlines.’]

The secret to directing the Skyview from “Final Destination Bloodlines” hides in plain sight. But for Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, striking the right tone was as much about the big picture horror as it was the funny little details. The pair met while making Steven Spielberg’s “On the Lot,” a reality competition show from 2007. Now, they’re on-track to deliver the highest-grossing chapter in a treasured 2000s franchise.

“What make the guys so successful is casting that wide net and seeing what they get,” said editor and frequent collaborator Sabrina Pitre. Fresh off another victory with Eli Craig’s “Clown in a Cornfield,” she’s already hard at work cutting Lipovsky and Stein’s next film, “Freaks 2.”

Pitre says the directors’ knack for truly valuing talent is what helped capture so many moments that make “Bloodlines” feel special. Warner Bros. and New Line’s triumphant sequel is a...

Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)
Final Destination: Bloodlines red carpet interviews with cast members, franchise producer, and more!
Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)
Last year, Final Destination 6, which ended up going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines, finally, after years of development and a long gap between sequels, made its way through production. Now, in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Final Destination, the new sequel has made its way into theatres – and it had a very successful opening weekend, proving that audiences are still eager to see more from this franchise. We’ve previously shared interviews with the film’s directors and cast and today we have a new batch of interviews to share, as JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was able to attend the red carpet premiere of the film in Los Angeles, where he talked with cast members Anna Lore, Richard Harmon, Rya Kihlstedt, and Alex Zahara, as well as franchise producer Craig Perry, original Final Destination writer Jeffrey Reddick, and editor Sabrina Pitre. Topics covered the filming of the movie,...

Dissecting Death’s Design in Final Destination Bloodlines Interviews with Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Producer Craig Perry, and Composer Tim Wynn
Image
It's hard to believe that it's been 14 years since the last Final Destination film was released in theaters (and the franchise feels more popular now than ever before—just try looking at a log truck on the road and not thinking about that killer opening in Final Destination 2), but the latest installment is well worth the wait. Paying homage to the franchise's past installments while carving its own gory trail in the creatively macabre image of Death's design, Final Destinations Bloodlines is the perfect balance of blood-soaked horror, gallows humor, and heart-wrenching moments, especially because this latest film follows an entire family who have cheated Death by their very existence, and who find themselves in the shadow of the Grim Reaper's scythe now that Death has finally caught up to them decades later...

Suffice to say that I'm dying for Daily Dead readers to see Final Destination...

Death Runs In The Family In Intense First Final Destination Bloodlines Trailer
Image
Believe it or not, it was 2011 when the last Final Destination movie was released. However, the franchise returns this summer with Final Destination Bloodlines, a movie we've previously heard will be part prequel, part sequel.

According to Warner Bros. and New Line, this sixth instalment "takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death's twisted sense of justice." In today's newly released teaser trailer (via FearHQ.com), we find a tattoo artist surrounded by a series of chain reactions, all of which culminate with his grisly demise. That involves fire, a ceiling fan, and a pretty horrific use of his piercings.

While this is more like an extended clip than a traditional trailer, it promises the sort of death and gore fans of these movies have loved since the series launched in 2000 (feel old yet?).

Whether Final Destination Bloodlines can successfully relaunch the long-running horror property remains to be seen,...

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai (May 23, Max)

As reviewed by Ava Pener-Bushard, 9, Daughter of Degen Pener, THR Deputy Editor

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai

I have never seen the Gremlins movie, but I know that gremlins smell bad and want to eat us. Just watching five minutes of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, I think it is already a really good TV show.

The show is 25 percent happy, 25 percent sad, 25 percent funny, and 25 percent disgusting. The disgusting parts are when fingers come off. It’s about a kid, Sam (Izaac Wang), who says, “I have no faith in myself. I can’t do it.” He has to hide this gremlin named Gizmo, who is so cute, and return it to its home. He finds this girl, Elle (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green), and they go on a big adventure to find its home. He’s kind of like a goody-two-shoes and the...

How Lego Ninjago: Dragons Rising Fits Into The Ninjago Timeline
Image
Due to Lego's vast universe, where the new Lego Ninjago: Dragons Rising television show fits into the timeline of the Ninjago microcosm has been called into question. The Lego Ninjago theme is vast unto itself, featuring a long-running series, titular Lego play sets, video games and merch, and even its own fictional language. Coming into play June 2023, an additional component to the Ninjago theme, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, will continue to expand the Ninjago world with never-before-seen characters and storylines.

Ninjago has been fruitful for the Lego universe; originally intended to have a short shelf life, the Ninjago series, formerly Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, blossomed into a 15-season sensation with its own Lego box office film alongside boundless Ninjago accessories. The animated fantasy-adventure series centers on the crusades of a ninja team trained to use the fictional martial arts of "Spinjitzu" to save the world of Ninjago - the premise...
