One of the biggest annoyances of streaming channels is the tendency they have to remove shows, often with little to no warning. It’s complex due to rights issues, licensing fees, and other factors, which is why places from Netflix to Tubi can often have shows vanish and later return or move to another streamer.

It’s easy to think that a show made for a specific channel would always stay on that channel/streamer. That’s not the case, as some streamers and cable channels have taken to dropping shows so they won’t have to pay off licensing rights. That means channels like HBO Max or Disney+ can drop several of their original series and leave them in limbo for watchers.

Such a case has been Starz.

After Hightown ended abruptly on Starz, its creator, Rebecca Cutter, was set to continue her relationship with the network with a new show, The Hunting Wives. It has been in development since 2023, but after production wrapped up, there was no news. Deadline reports that The Hunting Wives is now moving from Starz to Netflix and will premiere in the US on July 21. The decision was informed by Starz's ongoing decoupling process from Lionsgate Television, with whom they had partnered as their production studio. Starz has been on a quest to become profitable, like many other networks, and part of that process includes creating its own shows instead of licensing them from a production company. After the announcement of a new Power spinoff, Power Book IV: Force is officially coming to an end, and I'm worried about its conclusion. Starz revealed a new spinoff titled Power Book V: Origins is in the works which will focus on Ghost and Tommy's backstory before the main series. Although some of their history was touched on in the main series and the prequel show, Raising Kanan, the franchise clearly feels there is more to tell with this story, and while I am excited about this new spinoff, Power Book IV: Force's cancelation has me worried about its ending.

Power Book IV: Force's cancellation is reminiscent of Starz ending Hightown after season 3. Despite the cancellation, there's still hope for closure with Power Book IV: Force season 3.

Given the success of the Power franchise overall, I'm shocked such a well-watched show is ending. However, the decision to end Power Book IV: Force is part of a cost-cutting effort across Starz. Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) will produce its eighth fundraising telecast on Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. Et to raise money for cancer research and treatments. The one hour special, titled “How It Started, How It’s Going,” will acknowledge how SU2C has impacted cancer research over the past 15 years. Founded in 2008, the program was initiated by a group of women aiming to motivate the entertainment community to raise awareness and funding for cancer research.

The next chapter of Tommy Egan's story touches down on Starz in a little over a month.

That's right, folks. Power Book IV: Force Season 2 debuts Friday, September 1.

In what the streaming service describes as a "Christmas in July" gift to fans, photos of the fresh episodes have been released.

The decision is a nod to Tommy canceling Christmas for those who cross him.

The photos tease the conflicts on the menu for the latest season of the Power spinoff, showcasing the talented ensemble.

After much anticipation, "Power Book IV: Force" is finally returning for season two this fall, and according to series star Joseph Sikora, it'll be a real treat for "Power" fans who've been following the franchise since the very beginning. "We're going back to the roots of 'Power,'" he reveals to Popsugar. "We're hitting the streets hard, we're figuring out where things exist in Chicago in real time. I think that the audience is going to have a fun time discovering places."

In addition to more explosive action, Sikora teases that season two "feels very organic," crediting showrunner Gary Lennon (who served as an executive producer on "Power") for a "tremendous job of expanding our world and relating how real Chicago, specifically how Latino culture here in Chicago, would be; how it presents it very truthfully and expands our South Side and North Side gangs."

Actress and performer Laura Marano has been selected to receive the Cameron Boyce Pioneering Spirit Award at the 13th annual Thirst Gala and 2nd annual Legacy Ball on Oct. 15.

The event marks the second year in a row that the Thirst Project and Legacy Youth Leadership organizations have teamed to host a fundraiser, following last year’s online event that raised a collective 300,000.
