Netflix's New 'Reacher' Replacement Became an Instant Streaming Hit in America
Image
Less than 48 hours after debuting on a new streaming home, this Monica Raymund-led crime drama immediately found success, ranking among the top titles. From Starz to Netflix, Hightown is one of those shows that just can’t be missed thanks to its electric storyline. The series follows Raymund’s character, Jackie Quiñones, a National Marine Fisheries Service Agent in Provincetown, Massachusetts, who suffers from addiction and obsessive behavior. She finds her life turned upside down when she’s pulled into criminal investigations in her community, clashing with a disgraced narcotics sergeant as both struggle with mounting personal and professional turmoil.

About a year after Hightown was unexpectedly removed from Starz, it found a home on Netflix, where it debuted all three seasons on July 23. Now two days later, FlixPatrol reports that the series is #5 on Netflix in the U.S., a spot it has held since yesterday. Other titles...

Netflix Revives 80% Rated Crime Drama That You Can Binge After Eric Bana’s Untamed
Image
FandomWire’s Untamed review places Eric Bana’s wilderness thriller as a must-watch on Netflix. If crime thrillers like this chart-topping series are your go-to, we’ve got some good news for you. Netflix just dropped three whole seasons of Hightown, a critically acclaimed crime show that originally aired on Starz (via The Mirror).

With multiple episodes packed with similar mystery-fueled, gritty themes as Untamed, Hightown is being touted as the perfect follow-up to the latest crime drama. The shows share a central theme of troubled protagonists navigating complex investigations.

While Bana’s Kyle Turner stumbles upon a dead body as a National Park Service Isb Agent, Hightown follows Jackie Quiñones, where she discovers a dead body as a National Marine Fisheries Service Agent. As we hopefully await an announcement for an unlikely Untamed Season 2, let’s explore why the three-season crime drama can be the perfect fill-in.

July Will Be a Fantastic Month for Fans of Starz’s Critically Acclaimed Crime Drama
Image
2020 will always be that year for fans of this acclaimed Starz drama that has unfortunately been unavailable on streaming for a while. Debuting on the network on May 17, 2020, Hightown concluded its three-season run on March 8, 2024, and has failed to appear on any subscription service ever since it was abruptly removed from Starz. That’s about to change, as What's on Netflix reports that the crime series has now found a new streaming home on Netflix, where it will be available to watch in the U.S. starting next month.

On Wednesday, July 23, Netflix will add seasons of Hightown, which stars Monica Raymund as Jackie Quiñones, a National Marine Fisheries Service Agent in Provincetown, Massachusetts, who is the primary focus of the series. The character, who suffers from alcoholism, drug addiction, and obsessive behavior, finds her life upended when she’s pulled into criminal investigations in her beach community, clashing with...

Hightown finally gets second life on Netflix this summer after Starz removal
Image
If you’re missing Hightown on Starz, there’s excellent news for where you can now find the underrated crime drama!

One of the biggest annoyances of streaming channels is the tendency they have to remove shows, often with little to no warning. It’s complex due to rights issues, licensing fees, and other factors, which is why places from Netflix to Tubi can often have shows vanish and later return or move to another streamer.

It’s easy to think that a show made for a specific channel would always stay on that channel/streamer. That’s not the case, as some streamers and cable channels have taken to dropping shows so they won’t have to pay off licensing rights. That means channels like HBO Max or Disney+ can drop several of their original series and leave them in limbo for watchers.

Such a case has been Starz.

'Hightown' Creator's New Show Finds a New Home After Leaving Starz
Image
After Hightown ended abruptly on Starz, its creator, Rebecca Cutter, was set to continue her relationship with the network with a new show, The Hunting Wives. It has been in development since 2023, but after production wrapped up, there was no news. Deadline reports that The Hunting Wives is now moving from Starz to Netflix and will premiere in the US on July 21. The decision was informed by Starz's ongoing decoupling process from Lionsgate Television, with whom they had partnered as their production studio. Starz has been on a quest to become profitable, like many other networks, and part of that process includes creating its own shows instead of licensing them from a production company. Lionsgate Television believed that The Hunting Wives would run longer if it were on another streaming platform, contrary to what Starz had initially planned.

Netflix has acquired a one-year license for the US, with Lionsgate TV...

Real Reason Why Hightown on Starz Won’t Return for Season 4
Image
Some shows just get done dirty, and Hightown is one of them. Starz pulled the plug after Season 3, and honestly, it stings. Not because it was a bad show (far from it), but because it still had so much more story left to tell. It was gritty, intense, and full of messy, real people trying to make sense of their lives, whether they were cops or criminals.

And let’s be real, the cast carried the hell out of every episode. But instead of letting it ride out with one last season, Starz hit us with the classic “this is the end” routine and called Season 3 a wrap. The problem? That finale wasn’t an ending, it was a setup. A juicy one. So if you’re sitting there wondering why Hightown won’t be back for Season 4, you’re not alone. Let’s break down what happened and why...

Good Luck Charlie: Shane Harper Cheating on Bridgit Mendler With Her Friend Both in Real Life and On Screen Has to be the Darkest Coincidence in Hollywood
Image
Before she retired from acting to build the company Space, Bridgit Mendler played Teddy Duncan on the Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie. During her time on the series, Mendler fell for her co-star Shane Harper, who played Spencer Walsh. In the series, Mendler’s Teddy and Harper’s Spencer are dating from the first season, despite Spencer’s huge red flags.

Both the reel and real-life partnerships ended badly for the two. Coincidentally, there was a darker story behind how Mendler and Harper’s story ended, just like in the series. Mendler went on to tie the knot with Griffin Cleverly, who also became her business partner.

I'm Worried About Power Book IV: Force's Ending After New Spinoff Announcement
Image
Power Book V: Origins may lead to Tommy's death in Force's final season, causing worry and concern. Tommy's potential death would ruin his perfect Power ending and leave a massive hole in the franchise. Keeping Tommy alive for Origins could be more interesting and leave the door open for a future return.

After the announcement of a new Power spinoff, Power Book IV: Force is officially coming to an end, and I'm worried about its conclusion. Starz revealed a new spinoff titled Power Book V: Origins is in the works which will focus on Ghost and Tommy's backstory before the main series. Although some of their history was touched on in the main series and the prequel show, Raising Kanan, the franchise clearly feels there is more to tell with this story, and while I am excited about this new spinoff, Power Book IV: Force's cancelation has me worried about its ending.

Power Book IV: Force's Cancellation Reminds Me Of Another Starz Underrated Drama's Demise
Image
Power Book IV: Force's cancellation is part of the Starz cost-cutting effort, hinting at concerns about the franchise's future. Power Book IV: Force's cancellation is reminiscent of Starz ending Hightown after season 3. Despite the cancellation, there's still hope for closure with Power Book IV: Force season 3.

The untimely cancellation of Power Book IV: Force reminds me of the demise of another underrated Starz drama. Given the success of the Power franchise overall, I'm shocked such a well-watched show is ending. However, the decision to end Power Book IV: Force is part of a cost-cutting effort across Starz. With fellow spinoff Power Book II: Ghost season 4 also serving as the end of a franchise chapter, I'm concerned about what this means for the Power brand.

Given that the original Power universe kicked off almost a decade ago, I knew it was inevitable there would be a point at which some unpleasant...

Why Power Book IV: Force Killed Off One Of Its Biggest Villains & What It Means For Season 3
Image
Killing off Walter Flynn in Power Book IV: Force was the right decision, as it allowed other antagonists to become more crucial to the plot and amplified their presence. Walter's death enabled Vic and Claudia Flynn to have better stories, allowing them to become more independent and follow individual paths. Power Book IV: Force has evolved beyond the Flynn family, with other storylines taking precedence in season 2 and little room left for their involvement in future seasons.

The Power universe has had multiple spinoffs and its most successful one, Power Book IV: Force, killed off one of its biggest villains in season 2. Often, shows can collapse after getting rid of key antagonists, but in Force's case, it proved to be the right decision and sets up season 3 to be even more exciting. Power Book IV: Force focuses on Tommy Egan trying to take over the drug game in Chicago after...
